    Self-catering holidays in Padstow

For a holiday that's a wonderful blend of quirky traditions and modern amenities, booking one of our Padstow Cottages should be at the top of your list. On the face of it, Padstow is a working fishing port with old-school charm and rustic character. Dig a little deeper and you'll find that this chocolate-box town has plenty to offer visitors, no matter what your interests might be.

Courtesy of Rick Stein, Padstow has become something of a hotspot for foodies. His restaurant showcases local fishing and farming in delicious dishes served in classy surroundings. Celebrity-run restaurants aside, most of our Padstow Cottages are within easy reach of some lovely pubs and inns and, of course, the ubiquitous chippies. But, if fish isn't your dish, keep an eye out for the local pasties, widely-hailed as the 'best in the west'.

As you're by the sea, you might as well plonk yourself on one of the stunning beaches in the area - Chidley Pumps, Trevone and Harlyn beaches are all worth a visit. Sporting types might like to try their hand at surfing and there are plenty of surf schools in the area. Booking one of our holiday cottages in Padstow puts you within easy reach of all this and much more.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Grimshaw - Verified booking

Both pros and cons to this cottage! One of the twin mattresses was awful and needs replacing immediately, it creaks and groans and you can feel every spring. It was really uncomfortable & noisy! Under the twin beds hadn’t been dusted or mopped. Pans are no longer non stick & should be replaced. Bed runners (twin) were dirty and hadn’t been cleaned between guests. Pills (twin) are flat & need replacing. Double bed was too short for a man of 6’ 2”. However, the cottage is excellently located, a 16-minute walk to Padstow town centre. It was very convenient to have parking spaces as parking in Padstow itself looks a nightmare. We had a delivery from Sainsbury but there is a Tesco up the road. Hob is induction which is far better than the electric you find in most holiday cottages! Plenty of plates & glasses etc although we had to wash them on arrival. Lots to do in Padstow, it’s a really good location for a couples or family holiday. We also did a 5km walk from the town, and walked to St George’s Cove, from the cottage. Just be warned, if you have a child, every stair & upstairs floorboard creaks; it was impossible to ‘creep’ out having got my daughter to sleep without waking her. There is a downstairs single but it’s right next to the lounge area so not great for noise, plus from a safety perspective I don’t like having a child downstairs with adults upstairs. All in all, a decent stay, but could have been so much better with a few small tweaks and a bit more care, especially considering what it cost.

The property had a terrible smell of wee coming from the downstairs bedroom which wafted into the lounge. I slept in that bedroom and it was horrible. It was clearly a child’s room with a very basic mattress but not described as one when booking. The sofas were also very uncomfortable and offered no support at all as they just collapsed when you sat on them. My back was constantly hurting. Lovely kitchen area and the rest of the house was ok except for the cleanliness which lacked a lot. Investing in decent mattresses with protective covers and proper sofas would make all the difference. My Mom who is 89 was going to use that downstairs bedroom and I had to help her upstairs every night proved a big problem for us. I would book again but next time would ask more questions about the property before I booked online!

A great location for a holiday in Padstow, being only 150-200 metres from the harbour. Plenty of restaurants and pubs offering good food and drink. There is a good radiator heating system and hot water is readily available from the combi-boiler. It should be noted that the cottage is situated on the main route away from the quayside. Due to the nature and layout of the town, deliveries of supplies and waste collections from the retail establishments (including Rick Stein's Bistro opposite the property) resulting in a significant number of commercial vehicle movements which commenced at around 6:30am during our stay over Christmas and (I don't know) but may start even earlier during the busy summer months.

The bungalow Polbream was home from home,an amazing place to stay and so spacious. The cleanliness was second to none and everything there that you could wish for.Added extra was the lovely games room and conservatory and plenty of garden furniture to sit and admire the beautiful view. Excellent location for Travone beach and cafe(serving lovely food and drink) just 7minutes walk down a lane, with sea view stood outside the front of the bungalow. We would recommend Polbream to anyone that likes home comforts and give it too star rating. Thank you for making my 70th birthday holiday everything I could of wished for.
