What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jason - Verified booking

      Lovely apartment and great location.

We enjoyed exploring Barnard Castle and nice hikes in the surrounding area. Apartment was very clean & comfortable and had good facilities (pans, tea towels, etc.). In particular, nice river view and we enjoyed listening to the sound of the river. Didn't really notice the road noise that other reviewers mentioned. The view down to the cellar from the lounge is cool (you can get down there too)! The main issue was the poor internet. Smart TV and the Alexa device were effectively non-functional as a result. Don't come here if you want to be able to watch your favourite series or a movie in the evening, or come prepared with them pre-downloaded. We resorted to using our own mobile data to download things, but some networks won't have signal at the apartment (EE did but Vodafone didn't). Would not come here if expecting to do any remote working. If the owner upgrades the broadband then we could happily recommend others staying here.

      Pepper Cottage is incredible.

Abby has done a beautiful job making the house comfortable, homely, fun and practical with so many fantastic touches that make it a real pleasure to stay there. The house is designed and styled tastefully and artistically and she really has thought about what people want from a family holiday. The kitchen is brand new and airy while reception rooms are warm and cosy, stocked with everything you need including great games. The bedrooms are restful and comfortable. There is even a room for the dog and the garden is particularly beautiful. The egg chairs are fantastic! We were made extremely welcome with lovely, generous food/wine/coffee welcome pack. Wolsingham itself is great with so many walks, a fantastic pub with a Monday live music evening (Bay Horse), nice cafe, and Durham just up the road. I didn’t want to leave and I hope to be back at some point soon. Thank you for one of the best holidays we’ve had.

Pepper Cottage is a lovely, cosy and well- equipped cottage.

The cottage is in the very sleepy and quaint village of Wolsingham and offers lots of fantastic dog walks nearby. The cottage was super dog friendly. There was a utility / dog room set up with lots of well thought out touches for the doggy family member. The cottage was clean, cosy and well designed. The log burner was delightful after a day out walking & sightseeing. The bedrooms were very peaceful at night with the blackout blinds and curtains. Lovely touches by Abby owner for our arrival with bread, milk, cheese and wine, etc. Abby also went extra mile to check we had enough logs for log burner during a windy night. Highly recommend Pepper Cottage for R & R for an idyllic break, particularly if you have dogs as the cottage & location is so dog friendly!!

What a fantastic stay we had at Pepper Cottage.

So grateful that we were given such a lovely cosy holiday home that would allow our 4 dogs. Abby was only a text away providing any advice / recommendations needed throughout our stay. The cottage was soooo well equipped and was lovely and clean. The only issue we had was a lot of places nearby were either closed or weren’t serving food as it was out of season, so if you were to go at this time of year I would suggest properly researching places to visit / eat before hand. Very ideal dog walking field situated at the end of the street, and long walks mapped out through the “AllTrails” app that literally begin when you step out of the gate. We would definitely stay here again and are glad to know we have a holiday in mind for our pooches in the future :)

      A cosy and comfortable cottage.

Had four very pleasant nights in Barn2. The property was most welcoming - clean, warm and very peaceful. The beds and the sofas were most comfortable and the shower was such a delight I could have had three or four showers a day ! As a former teacher of history I was fascinated by the Roman remains in the garden and the wealth of industrial heritage in the locality. The village itself was a delight - friendly people, a great village store and excellent bus services. Thanks to Chris and Lynne for making our short stay so memorable - their friendly welcome and the lovely accommodation. Best of luck with the museum venture. Hope to be back again. John, Susan and Lyndsay Stanton
