What our customers say about their holidays

Stayed at the Stackyard at Witton Hall Farm.

Unbelievable! The most amazing place we have stayed so far. The lodge is beautifully laid out and decorated with gorgeous views of the countryside. Arrived to a welcome pack of prosecco, chocolates, milk and fresh farm eggs which was a lovely touch and the eggs were beautiful! The lodge is really well equipped with everything you could possibly need in particular the kitchen area including BBQ utensils. The owner Chris and the rest of the team at site are fantastic and have been on hand any time we needed them. We had a minor issue with the hot tub not working correctly and within 15 minutes of notifying the owners, they were there to fix it. This is a suberb holiday rental with high quality living and sleeping areas, Beds very comfortable, great kitchen/dining area and all very high spec with quality amenities. There were 5 of us staying and all felt the space was brilliant with plenty of different areas to sit and not be on top of each other. Loved seeing the Alpacas and horses every day and feeding them apples and carrots. Outdoor space is spectacular to take in the beautiful views with a corner unit lounge by the outdoor BBQ and a seperate table and chairs with a built in fire pit. Plus the hot tub is fantastic with outdoor lighting and fairy lights over the tub. Amazing location, highly recommend. Plus the owners/managers really go ouy of their way to make you feel welcome. Amazing holiday had by all, thank you. We will book again specifically for here and highly recommend!x

Overall, we had a lovely time at Orchard Cottage, thank you Peter for checking in on us just after we arrived.

Overall, the cottage suited our holiday plans and size of group. The indoor facilities were generally excellent. Some minor points which may be worth considering, or instructions amended: there is only one standard sized cupboard for dry food storage in the kitchen; the refuse bin was not collected as per instructions left; there is not an extraction fan in the upstairs bathroom, shower door opened onto the sink so access was somewhat limited into the shower, on our day of arrival, there was very limited hot water available for evening bath/showers (for a group of six); rooms were spacious but dusty; the hoover is fairly ineffective on carpet; the dishwasher needed rinse aid and salt on our day of arrival; the freezer needs defrosting. The outdoor facilities were generally excellent. Some minor points which may be worth considering, or instructions amended: the hot tub is kept at temperature constantly - this must be energy hungry?; the perimeter fencing is not consistently secure; another neighbour’s dog was repeatedly in the garden which impacted on us letting our dog outdoors, we also had to pick up dog waste not originating from our dog; the sheep were moved mid-week to the paddock adjacent to the garden, it would have helped our planning (ref our dog) to know in advance that was going to happen; the washing line would benefit from additional pegs.

We had a wonderful Christmas break at The Stackyard.

The property was warm and comfortable and decorated for Christmas which was a thoughtful touch. It’s the perfect house for entertaining and has the bonus of a hot tub. The property sleeps six and we are just two with a small dog, but the living space and layout was great for welcoming friends and family. Secure garden for the dog is a must for us and all of the properties on site have this feature. The nearby local dog walking is great too. Overall an excellent property that we would highly recommend. Our second stay at Witton Hall Farm, our first at The Stackyard. We intend visiting again and trying another of the fabulous properties on offer. A special thanks to Chris (one of the owners) who came almost immediately when I raised a small problem we were having with the heating. Fixed in no time. A truly lovely stay.

I booked this one for my dad's 60th and could not have been happier with my choice.

The cottage is surprisingly big and easily accommodates up to 8 people, it has a lovely riverside walk that starts right next to the cottage and a hot tub. What more could you want? Also you're only a short drive from Duhram, which is definitely worth a visit or three. The only issue we had was solved in the first few hours we were there by the owner (Peter) who notified me that there was an issue with the hot tub pump and that he was already on the way to pick up the new part (on a bank holiday, what a legend) safe to say it wasn't a problem for long. Also, throughout the day you're likely to get visited by the friendliest dogs ever who just want your love and definitely not that pizza crust you have left over. Highly recommend.

Lovely cottage in superb location with amazing walks and hot tub.

A few things need to be addressed: The fridge is woefully too small for 8 adults and 2 infants over the period of a week, we had to throw some food and milk away as it had gone off. The dustbin is a standard domestic wheelie bin and one only and was almost full on arrival though emptied on the following Tuesday after our arrival the previous Friday and only the standard kerb side box for bottles. The cleaning of the premises wasn’t great either I could write my name on the bedside lamps bases on arrival and the bathroom cabinet was very dirty inside. None of this detracted from our wonderful stay celebrating my sixtieth birthday and generally the cottage is beautiful and I would not hesitate to return and recommend.
