This was a lovely place to stay for a long weekend with my dog.

The property was very clean, comfortable, warm and had everything you could need for a short stay. I loved how quiet the area is, there are only a few properties close by and it is set back from the road. I really enjoyed watching the wildlife in the garden and of course my morning visit from the chickens! Just some considerations for any future visitors: There is no mobile phone reception at all in this location and this wasn’t a big deal once I as settled as there is wifi, but I arrived in the dark (not planned) and couldn’t see where the property was as there is no artificial lighting in the area at all. I used the postcode for the satnav, which to be fair took me pretty much to the right location…..so to help, if you enter the track through the gap in the wall, the property is up to the right which you can access either end of a track that runs parallel on a slope on the right of the one through the gap in the wall (hope that makes sense!). As I had no phone reception I was unable to call for directions or use “what three words”. However, John saw I was a damsel in distress and came to my rescue (shows how close I was!), which I am grateful for; and he set the property up for me when I arrived. In daylight everything was very obvious! I say all of this with absolutely no criticism to this lovely accommodation, more to help anyone else who arrives in the dark. Even with my confusion on arrival, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who is visiting the area. Me and my dog enjoyed some really lovely walks in the local area and relaxing evenings. Thank you for being lovely hosts.

Lovely holiday for a week , great base to explore surrounding areas.

Parking was a little difficult as it involved 3 point turns up a grass hill in order to turn round and to get in to the allocated spot which on rainy days didn’t feel the best as your car has go to do this. We found the blinds in the cottage frustrating as they weren’t working properly which meant we had a few days where one of the main lookout blinds was completely down ruining the view during the day. We did find the towels didn’t dry very well in the cottage as the radiator in the bathroom wasn’t big enough for all the towels and as there is no bathroom window, we did find things were smelling damp in there which wasn’t the best but we couldn’t dry things outside as it was a particularly wet week. Vacuum cleaner also seemed impossible to use with no suction when we tried to clean up at the end of our stay. Other than that the property was clean , comfortable and had everything we needed. We missed not having a washing machine and dishwasher but in such a small property you can’t expect this and I feel that the price reflected the fact that the cottage didn’t include those things which made for a cheap week away. Overall a lovely stay and would stay here again if we were to revisit the area but would bare the above factors in mind :)

We arrived by Trikes, to explore the area, as such luggage space was limited.

To arrive and find a bottle of milk in the fridge and tea/coffee making basics already there was an absolute boon, as there was no urgency to unpack and run back out for supplies; the welcome muffins were a lovely extra. One of the reasons we selected the property was the off-road parking for our two precious vehicles; something we could not find in town. However the walk to the nearest pub, and into town was easy, although an uphill return. The cottage is absolutely delightful, and has everything a couple could need. It’s a very peaceful and beautiful location, and we both slept very well indeed. One thing of note was how lovely the bedding and towels felt and smelled, to the extent I texted the key holder to ask what they used. My husband also made note of the towel brand, and I am sure will be tracking some down in the near future. All in all, a wonderful place to stay, and one we will return to in future to explore this glorious location further.

      We had a lovely stay.

It's in a beautiful village very quiet..... when we arrived the cottage was very chilly no hamper which I thought was unusual with it been a New Year stay .. the fridge/freezer was very small we had to leave our drink for our 4 nt stay outside luckily it was cold with been 4mile from shops I did take food with me but did struggle to fit what needed to go in the freezer compartment .. I read on the reviews that the couch was very low and I agree there was a lot of throws covering it and got very messy forever straightening them up and floor was lifting in many areas ... bedrooms and bathrooms were very tastefully done and the view of the castle from the 2nd bedroom was spectacular .... it may sound very negative but there was many positives it was a cosy cottage once we got the burner going .. the kitchen and bathrooms where very clean and beds very comfortable overall it was a lovely stay with my in laws making memories.

Leadmill Piggery is a little gem .

Deceptively spacious inside, well equipped and comfortably furnished. Floor to ceiling windows in the main living area give great views of Woodland and Wildlife, with walks in the woods from the door- Dog Heaven ! An excellent base to explore Teeside, with more places of interest to visit than time available. Not the easiest place to find, but with extra help from the owners finally got there !. Enjoyed the challenges posed by the minor roads in the area which provided interesting driving experiences. Amanda and John were extremely helpful and quickly resolved any minor problems, as well as providing some thoughtful "Welcome "items. This is an excellent holiday property . Dotty and Harvey.
