What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lorraine - Verified booking

We stayed at Devine Lodge, Callington in Cornwall after finding a last minute deal.

This was great for us as our motorhome had broken down the week before in Scotland and we didn't want to waste the second week of our holidays. We arrived early and we were advised that we could enter the property by the cleaning team, it had been left very clean and we really liked how all the crockery and cutlery had been put through the dishwasher for us to empty. The lodge had everything we needed and the double room had a comfortable bed. We took our own towels which was just as well as the ones left in the property weren't particularly clean. The property was nicely layed out and the lights on the balcony looked lovely on an evening. The welcome pack was extremely informative although we had to Google how to get the TV working and it kept randomly switching off. The internet was poor quality along with the TV signal however we spent little time at the property and made the most of our visit to Cornwall. Plenty to see and do. Each evening when we returned we were left without a parking space, it is advertised as having two, perhaps it would be a good idea to have this highlighted in the parking area. Our first evening we visited the on site pub which served a good selection of drinks although a little expensive. We decided to stay for a meal where I opted for the halloumi burger which was pleasant enough and my husband had the chicken Kiev which was served to him raw!! We only discovered this once he'd eaten some of it. Fortunately he wasn't ill. They apologized and refunded the money for his meal only. Each evening when we arrived back at the property we noticed a very strong smell of damp, we noticed this got a little better after having the heating on however the double bedroom was particularly bad where we noticed damp patches on the ceiling, we also noticed that the curtain tie backs were loose as was the bath panel. We hoped that these issues were due to it being the end of the summer season. This is a good location however I'd have been extremely disappointed if I'd paid full price and wouldn't recommend this accommodation to family or friends

32 Trevithick is a superbly presented rental cottage, with everything supplied to make your stay thoroughly enjoyable.

General décor is very good and the lighting offers many differing schemes that cover everything you might need. Furniture and beds in 32 are really comfortable, and the under floor heating adds that special touch when you get up in the morning and take a shower, but equally keeps the ambient temperature just right. All of the essentials elements, the hob, the oven, the washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, bathing and showering facilities are like new and kept spotless by the owners and cleaning staff. Lots of wardrobes and drawer space lets you space out your clothes across all three bedrooms. Bathrooms are light, airy and well maintained, with an upstairs bath/toilet, whilst the downstairs bathroom has a really lovely shower room and toilet. Externally, the décor at 32 is kept to a high standard and offers chairs to sit outside at the front, and picnic style benches to the rear. The grassy area's are kept neat and tidy which adds to the overall look and appeal at the complex. The owner/s are attentive to any issues and are really lovely... nothing seems too much trouble. 32 Trevithick was a rare find, and can be summed up as a fantastic place to spend R&R time, whilst exploring Cornwall, or for just chilling and letting the world go by. A BIG Thank You to Gareth and Family!

This is a lovely lodge with everything needed for a family stay.

Plenty of crockery etc, excellent washing machine and the beds are so comfortable. Decor is modern and lodge is well laid out and comfortable. Free passes were also provided for use of the on site pool and, bar and club. Our only issues were, another family had somehow managed to enter the lodge before us then realised they had the wrong lodge, we still do not know how they did this as the keys were locked in the key coded box on our arrival. Thankfully they had realised before using any facilities or beds. we had no Wi-Fi all week until on the last night my son noticed the Wi-Fi box had been unplugged in the rear bedroom. We did not know about the immersion heaters for hot water and had to rummage through a pile of leaflets to find the lodge instruction manual which seems a little out of date and should be made more easily available. The provided clothes airer was broken, we managed with just the lower section but the bars had broken to fully extend it. Overall these were minor issues that did not spoil our holiday and can easily be rectified. We would definitely book again.

This cottage was booked at very short notice due to Covid lockdowns at our planned destination.

Sykes staff were extremely helpful & efficient & we were delighted that our holiday was able to go ahead. Devine cottage was perfect for us to enjoy a relaxing week. The site was quiet & peaceful & central for days out. It’s ideal for families & very dog friendly. It was lovely to sit out on the balcony, weather permitting & listen to the owls in the evening & woodpeckers of a morning. The very helpful reception staff advised us of pool accessibility & my daughter was very pleased that this facility was available to us. The lodge itself was comfortable & clean & the kitchen contained all the utensils we needed. We loved the decor & upside down layout. However, there was no hand soap & the only towels provided were two bath towels for three of us to share! I think this could have been down to the last minute booking though. We’d definitely like to return & are pleased that Covid gave us the opportunity to explore an area that we wouldn’t necessarily have chosen otherwise

Our stay at Rowan was absolutely perfect, there are no other words to describe it.

The lodge was comfortable, well equipped, warm and in the most beautiful surroundings. The fact that we could have our two dogs with us, who loved having the field opposite to play in (alongside the children) was invaluable. The manager of the lodges Michelle made contact prior to our arrival and couldnt have been more helpful to our needs, she even visited us shortly after our arrival to check we had everything we needed. We live locally and rented the lodge whilst we did some work on our newly purchased property, but we felt we would happily stay there again for a holiday as it was so lovely, peaceful and relaxing. We saw deer roaming past the lodge and grazing outside the window, as well as woodpeckers and foxes, which just added to the experience for us. A truly beautiful place to stay.
