What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Elizabeth Trout - Verified booking

This a very comfortable, spacious and well maintained property which exceeded our expectations. It has everything you need for self-catering. We enjoyed our stay and the village is well served by two butchers, a bakery (over the bridge) and several delis. There are two supermarkets - the Spar shop has a very good supply of local fruit and veg. We can recommend an evening's good entertainment at the Playhouse on Church Street. Pateley Bridge is an ideal location to explore Nidderdale and Wharfedale or further afield. Just a warning that the steep hills from the village centre to the property and the 14 steps up to the front door may be a challenge for people with mobility problems. Parking is nearby in the museum car park which is convenient but means several trips to unload/load.

Spacious, comfortable cottage. It has a smart tv, lot of books, games and puzzles to keep you occupied on those rainy days. The kitchen is well equipped with lots of essentials provided. These include, coffee, tea, coffee mate, sugar, herbs and spices, gravy granules, salt, pepper, vinegar, cooking oil and dilute juice. Cleaning products, washing up liquid, hand wash and laundry pods are, also provided. Add to that, a welcome pack of wine and chocolates. The only issue we had was the smell of damp but we kept it well aired so it eventually cleared. It's a very quiet area but close enough to the high street, with the oldest sweet shop and an award winning butcher. I've been to pately bridge a few times and it's a great spot to further explore North yorkshire.

There are lots of things to recommend Humbug Lodge. A spacious, yet comfy property with a super spot outside for catching any sunshine. A lovely quiet and peaceful location with tantalising views of the distant moors, but also just a very quick walk from the bustling High Street shops and river area. Lots of places to eat or grab a take away from mean that if, like us, you want a rest from cooking and washing up, there's a good variety to choose from. So many beautiful walks to do straight from the Lodge meant we were able to explore the idyllic countryside and make good use of the local hostelries for well earned refreshment. We loved it and had a very relaxing week's holiday.

The cottage is ideally suited in an excellent peaceful position next to a very old church and only a ten minute walk to local shops and pubs. Very warm, comfortable and spacious with a well equipped kitchen. The free car parking provided in view of the Lodge was very helpful. The surrounding areas are ideal for walkers with or without dogs. Ripon, Skipton, Knaresborough, Harrogate and the smaller villages are worthy of visiting and within a 30 minute drive from Pateley Bridge. I would have no hesitation in recommending the lodge to others and would like to visit again in the future.

    • Mr Hicks - Verified booking

Humbug Lodge is in a great location for all that Pateley Bridge has to offer. As stated on the website, it is not suitable for anyone who has access issues as there are a number of tricky stairs to negotiate (and a front door that takes a bit of strength to open). The door issue really does need addressing. In general it is a lovely property. It does require a degree of modernisation and although this is the second time we have stayed there, we would be tempted to look elsewhere next time we visit Pateley Bridge, which we certainly will do.
