Our stay was pretty perfect on the whole.
The property was immaculately clean and the facilities were great. The welcome mince pies and milk in the fridge were a lovely touch. Marie was quick to message about some rugs that hasn't been placed properly in one of the rooms. It was no big deal, but nice to know the owner was making sure everything was perfect. The bed was comfy the sofa was comfy, it had a very cozy feel, very comfortable. The only negative of the stay however, was that every weekday afternoon, someone was cutting up timber with a chainsaw for hours at a time right outside the accommodation. Meaning relaxing after a long morning walk was impossible. There was also some obvious staining on one of the bath towels, which is pretty minor as there were others to use. Also a dirty tray and foil was left in the oven from the previous visitor, again, minor but something worth mentioning. These are the only reasons I didn't give 5 stars. I'd also like to suggest the information folder has a bit of tlc.

Located close to Keswick without being in the middle of town.
A 15 -20 minute footpath walk in to town. However, when walking back at night, there is very little street lighting and non-existent at the roundabout on the A66. Advise to take a torch. There was some road noise, but it didnât really spoil our stay, as we were out most of the time. If you wanted to sit out on a warm evening it might not be as peaceful as you would like. Property very well equipped. A cosy property and just right for the pair of us and two large dogs. Only downside for us was if the dogs needed to relieve themselves (even at 3am), it meant getting dressed, grabbing the torch and taking them up the lane, as there was no secure garden. When they did come back wet and muddy, we had the Mud Daddy with us and could hose them down outside before putting their drying towels on and giving them a good towel down on the decking, which was gated.

We've stayed at Glaramara twice before and have always been very happy with the lodge and the location.
Unfortunately this time 2 weeks after we completed our holiday I am still waiting for a refund of the housing bond. We left the lodge immaculate and even offered to pay for the plastic fish slice which snapped. It was already very worn and we only used it once before it broke. I waited on the telephone last week for some time before I was told the refund would be in my account mon/tues. Yet again I waited 10 minutes on the phone earlier and gave up when nobody answered. Due to us enthusing about the property 2 sets of friends have booked Glaramara and we have another week booked in September. If I am going to have to beg for my refund each time I go there I will certainly not be booking any holidays there in the future and shall inform friends about the difficulty in getting our money back.

Absolutely loved my stay here at Derwent lodge.
Lots of storage, comfortable beds, clean and a well equipped kitchen. The lodge is so close to wonderful walks and a fantastic pub, which Iâd highly recommend but book as it gets busy - The pheasant inn. A walk quick walk through Fitz park takes you to the centre of Keswick. My only criticism is I booked the week were road works at night were happening, on the roundabout but other than that, the noise from the traffic wasnât an issue. I left music on at night to drown out the noise and this seemed to work. A lovely lady who stays at the lodges two times a year assured me this was unfortunate and never normally happens. Roadworks canât be helped and it didnât ruin our trip, as previously mentioned the lodge is great.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at Glaramara.
The lodge is in a lovely position with views from the rear decking and although site is close to the main busy A66 and roundabout you donât really notice or hear the traffic. Few minutes walk into town and well worth it as street parking was a problem as busy. The lodge is very well equipped with everything you could need and comfortable and warm. Our only criticism would be to replace the tube bedroom and bathroom lighting to white light rather than yellow as a little dark to see. Also, I couldnât find a comfortable pillow as they were all a little flat and lumpy. I would probably take my own for our future visit. Other than that lovely holiday accommodation. Many Thanks!
