What our customers say about their holidays

    • Sarah - Verified booking

The location is perfect for Keswick and surrounding areas along with the very quiet site.

The lodge is well equipped however it was below standard for cleanliness and maintenance considering the premium price we paid. When we arrived the en-suite bathroom light wasn’t working, the owner quickly resolved this but the following night the main bathroom light stopped working. We didn’t want to have our holiday interrupted a second time so notified the owner prior to leaving so it was fixed for the next arrivals. We also found dirty underwear under the bunkbed, rubbish behind the bedside unit and crumbs under the settees. The main bedroom mattress was too soft for us so we had a terrible weeks sleep and bad backs. The bunkbed mattresses were so worn you could feel the bobbles through the sheets with no mattress protectors on. I informed the owner of these directly as I didn’t really want to leave a bad review on the website, the response was that these would be looked at the next time they visited but I got no apology which is the reason for me now leaving this. Not impressed, won’t be returning and if it was my lodge I’d put the effort in the maintain it and be grateful to people paying towards its use.

Garden Cottage is a little Gem. We selected this property after looking at other Cottage and accommodation sites. It was our choice for location as it is very close to the Park and Ride, the City and to our son's house. The amenities and the layout were completely ideal for us. As well as everything that we have marked "excellent" the added bonus is Sue, the owner. She was welcoming, friendly but not intrusive and made us feel very much at home. The 'welcome pack' she left out for us was most welcome and of excellent quality. We would love to stay here again when we come up from deepest darkest Devon to visit our son. Highly Recommended. Thank you Sue.

Hi.we have booked 4 different lodges at Burnside over the years and they are all really nice, well equipped, comfy and lovely views.

Robins Nest was fine in general, only a couple of tiny gripes such as a low powered shower, loose connection on holder which kept falling forward and no shelf to put your shower gel etc.. on,we used the surface above the unit but bottles kept slipping off so this needs sorting, also the bathroom cabinet above the sink which only held a first aid kit and bottle of sanitiser needs replacing with just a mirror on the wall as everytime i leant forward to rinse my mouth after cleaning my teeth my head banged on the cabinet!! overall the lodge was comfy, warm and enjoyable if a tad cramped but it does state it only sleeps 2 thats not a problem.

      What a superb Log Cabin.

We really did enjoy our stay, in something so comfortable and clean. This contributed brilliantly, to the best two weeks we’ve ever had in The Lakes. It’s nice after seeing landscapes, wildlife, fighter jets, and the aurora, to be able to come back to this wonderful place. I’d like to take this opportunity, to thank the owners, for allowing to stay in such a fantastic property. It’s hugely respected, and appreciated, the time and effort that must go into providing these. A huge thankyou again, for such a great stay at Hayeswater. It was brilliant! Best regards. Daz, Lisa, and Lynn.

      The Lodge was excellent.

better than we imagined. great location and stunning views. Had all the amenities anyone could imagine. Just 2 slight negatives, I tried contacting the owner for advice and to record the Freezer compartment in the fridge has a loose door (non of our making). Got no replies back. Pointless putting their contact details on the letting paperwork. Slightly disappointed that there is no recycling on site. Had to bring home all our recyclable rubbish with us.
