What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages With Swimming Pools In Windermere To Rent.

- Mr Williams, May 2018 - verified booking

"We got home yesterday and we had a fantastic week at your cabin at White Cross Bay. It was clean and comfy, our dogs quickly settled in and we certainly had enough living space in the kitchen and lounge. I'm pleased we stayed at Top Lodge on the edge of the camp rather than in the middle of the site where I'm sure it would have been noisier and busier. It was very quiet and peaceful until our final night when we got a rowdy party of five blokes staying at a cabin 10-15 yards away - and they were out drinking and talking loudly till well after 1am. Perhaps the camp owners should impose restrictions on all-male groups renting lodges as well as insisting on a lights out, silence first policy after midnight. We loved the woods behind our cabin, taking our pets up there every day. As for the minuses. The lodge seriously needs more shelf/cupboard/drawer space. We had to keep the food/drinks we'd taken up in bags because there wasn't anywhere to put it. The same applies re our clothes in the bedroom. We could have done with more cupboards for pants, socks, shirts, tops, etc. The bed was just OK and the duvet just about big enough. Easily the biggest bugbear for me was the joke of a basin in the bathroom. I could hardly clean my teeth in it never mind have a shave! I ended up having to shave in the kitchen sink! I just do not see the point of having such a ridiculously impractical basin that was neither use nor ornament as my grandad used to say. I've stayed in all sorts of places all over the world over the last 50 years and never come across a basin so pointless. I also had to call you to get the proper key safe code when we arrived after apparently being sent a new code by email. I should have spotted the new number but it would be a big help if you could banner headline such a change in emails in future to make sure customers don't miss it. But all in all we had a fabulous week and would return, perhaps to try one of your lakeside lodges next."

"I cannot recommend Striding Edge Lodge highly enough. My partner I and our baby have had the best time staying here. The lodge is so lovely, clean, very homely and has such a cosy feel to it. The owners Jan and Rod have really taken care of their guests by providing everything you need to really feel at home. Including a bookshelf packed full of books, DVDs and board games for typical Lake District rainy days. We've loved sitting watching the birds from the living room window on the bird feeder. It's in the heart of the Lakes so has been easy to get to and from various nearby spots such as Ambleside and Windermere where we've had some lovely days out. The site it's based on has some fab facilities such as a swimming pool and bar/ restaurant that does lovely reasonably priced food. Oh and if you fancy a takeaway pizza we got one delivered from the local Sourdough pizza in Ambleside which was delicious! Also recommend Daisy's Cafe in Ambleside Town centre for a really good breakfast. We will definitely be back."

"The Lodge was comfortable, homely, well equipped and well looked after by the owners. With White Cross Bay, location in the Park itself is crucial and Striding Edge is very well located, being high up with the verandah facing away from the road, towards the tops of the trees. We took 2 dogs and it was perfect for them, with an enclosed verandah and woods where we could walk them just across from the lodge. There’s a bird feeder on the verandah that attracts a wide variety of small birds. We filled it up and found it very relaxing just sitting watching the birds either from the verandah or through the lodge windows from the sitting room area. There is ample parking and it is a good base from which to enjoy the Lake District, with many attractions nearby. We would definitely book this lodge again. The booking process through Sykes was easy and everything went very smoothly, so we wouldn’t hesitate to book again with Sykes."

"We stayed at Striding Edge for a week in September. The lodge was perfect, it was well maintained in a lovely, peaceful location. Previously we have found that some self catering accommodation has the bare minimum when it comes to kitchen equipment, this wasn't the case with Striding Edge, the kitchen had everything you could need for a perfect self catering stay, this is especially important with a toddler and baby in tow. The lodge was spacious with good sized rooms. The extra little touches like games, colouring and books meant that our daughter always had something to do. The location was great as a base for exploring the Lake District but with a decent swimming pool, gym and park we weren't short of things to do if we stayed 'home' for the day. All in all we would highly recommend this lodge and hopefully will be visiting again soon."
