Covering 954 km Dartmoor is a gem of the South West. Home to stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife and a rich history, this National Park is an exciting place to spend a cottage holiday. Whether you're looking to relax or get active, Dartmoor won't disappoint.

On a trip to Dartmoor, you'll be greeted by vast moorland and burbling rivers. The impressive landscapes make an ideal adventureland for exploring with your four-legged friend; there are plenty of paths to meander along. Dogs are very welcome here but there are certain times of year they are required to remain on a lead, when near livestock. Even just a picnic takes on a magical air here with the stunning view and rich history which permeates the landscape

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Richard - Verified booking

We booked Medland for a family holiday, five adults, two teenagers and a dog.

The property is ideally situated for exploring South Devon with lots to see and do. Chudleigh offers a selection of pubs, small shops and a Co-op, shame the fish and chip shop was closed when we were there. The sitting room was comfortable, though doesn't really cater for eight people, only offering a two seater and three seater sofa, plus a bean bag. The dining room was spacious, with a table and chairs for eight people. Unfortunately the sofa in the dining room isn't "a nice spot to unwind whilst waiting for those delightful meals to warm up" it's extremely uncomfortable and desperately needs throwing away. The front bedroom is very noisy early in the morning as it faces the road and the traffic noise "booms" between the buildings. We all found the beds uncomfortable, it's a shame the owners haven't taken on board the previous comments and at least replaced the mattresses. Two of our party went home early due to the lack of a good nights sleep. The kitchen had adequate utensils and pans, the dishwasher door didn't seem to close properly and a two slice toaster doesn't work very well for eight people. Parking is a challenge, but with a bit of persistence I managed with my Honda CR-V. I'm leaving this review hoping that the owners will make the effort to invest in the property, to improve the decoration, replace the tired bed linen and crockery, to name but a few things. The saving light was Becky who was extremely helpful, especially when the rain came in through the kitchen ceiling! If your a family looking for a holiday in Devon I would seriously look for better value elsewhere.

      Fantastic!!!

Just spent an amazing week at Teign View with my mother and her small dog! We searched for:- 1) A well maintained house with an enclosed garden for Alfie the Shih tzu 2) Walk in shower for my elderly mother 3) Quiet peaceful location in a rural setting, not too far from the coast 4) Pub within walking distance Well, we hit the jackpot, although the house is lovely and very comfortable, we had wonderful weather and therefore, spent most of the time outside in the garden or visiting local villages or coastal towns all within a 30 minute drive. We found the property to be exactly as described, however the photos on the website really don't do it justice. The beautiful garden is totally enclosed and Alfie had a wonderful time playing freely and we relaxed enjoying the sun and sounds of nature! Most evenings were spent at the local pub (The Manor Inn) literally 4 minutes walk from the property - with friendly staff and wonderful food! Also, (almost forgot) there was nice surprise awaiting our arrival - Devon Cream Tea, fresh milk, a bottle of wine and treats for the dog! On the downside - no dishwasher and (for those who can't survive without a mobile), there is no mobile/internet signal in the valley! The WIFI works perfectly inside the house but not in the garden and so there is a landline at the property for emergencies. Yes, We would definitely return !!!

Lovely, comfortable, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location.

The owners were very welcoming and friendly, the complimentary bottle of wine and the delicious cream teas were very welcome after a long drive and much appreciated. The garden was lovely and well looked after, the patio was a proper sun trap for a glass of wine at the end of the day. The food at the local pub was delicious and only 3 minutes walk away, with friendly helpful staff and great service. Lots to do in the area within easy driving distance, or enjoy the peace and quiet of the cottage. We have never stayed in a cottage which was so well equipped, there was nothing that we could criticise and we would highly recommend Teign View for a lovely holiday. Thank you so much Joan and Colin for a lovely place to stay.

Contacted by owners prior to arrival & met by Joan who showed us around & explained things.

The clean, well maintained cottage was trimmed up for Christmas which was a nice touch, plus the 'goodies' were very well rec'd, thank you! Kitchen was large & well stocked with all the utensils etc required. Massive secure garden for dogs to sniff around in, plus large variety of wildlife visiting the bird feeders. Able to relax in the cosy sitting room with comfortable sofas. Noticed loads of games & books etc Double bed in main bedroom was very comfortable, lovely crisp bedding. Bathroom shower was hot & powerful with plenty of hot water. Very well placed cottage, was able to visit all around. All in all, a very nice and relaxing stay, would happily recommend Teign View.

Teign View is a lovely spacious, warm and comfortable bungalow with everything needed for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.

We were met by Joan, the owner who showed us around and gave us the rundown on everything. She left us with a stack of goodies and treats for the dogs, all of which was very much appreciated after a long journey. Our two dogs enjoyed the freedom of the garden and the river walk down the road, and it was useful to have a back entrance and an area to clean and dry them. The pub across the road do excellent meals and everybody we met in Lower Ashton, and elsewhere, were very friendly. Although the place is quiet and peaceful there is lots to see and without going too far. All in all a lovely holiday with superb weather. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back again.
