What our customers say about their holidays

    • Julie - Verified booking

This property is in an outstanding location.

Stunning views and accessible to so many towns and villages and lovely walks. The sofas were comfy as was the main bedroom bed. Cows arrived every evening at the lounge window and were lovely. The property is down a steep track which would be a challenge for older people or pushchairs. The property could do with a bit of tlc we felt .. peeling paint outside, and dirty windows gave it a bit of a tired feel. The pots and pans needed a good wash before we used them and there were dog hairs in the oven. We spent a while cleaning cobwebs from every room. We noticed that this had been commented on previously. Bedroom two and three .. beds .. one had broken slats and one squeaked badly. With a bit of care and attention to details this could be a really stunning place.

We love this Cottage and have stayed in it many times and will defenitly return.

The Barn itself, the location, the views and being able to bring a dog are our main reasons for coming back so often. The communications with the owners are very very good. We had an issue with a smell in the kitchen and they send a handyman in record time. When we returned in the afternoon of the same day the smell was gone. However in our opinion the house starts to need a bit of attention in some places for example the bathrooms and the worn out sofa in the lounge. And please more/better lighting along the path and especially down the steps to the courtyard would be useful. But all in all still a beautiful place to visit the Peak District.!

      Beautiful barn conversion.

Steep walk down from parking area. This path was well lit in parts but the had no lighting in the middle section of the path, where there is a very big step. This needs attended to as soon as possible. Luckily we had a torch on us and would not have been able to manage in the dark without one. We received a fantastic welcome pack in the cottage and the owner sent us an email informing us of local amenities in the area. Could do with more coat hangers in the wardrobes. The kitchen was well stocked apart from dishwashing tablets. Second time we have stayed here and would love to go back preferably in the summer or when the nights are lighter.

We had a lovely week at Broadwood Barn (helped by being lucky with the weather) It was perfect for our dog having a fully enclosed yard she loved it .

The walk and steps up & down to the barn are a challenge but we embraced it . The view’s are amazing and we loved watching the cows and sheep. There is everything at the barn you need, plenty of kitchen equipment and the little hamper and milk in the fridge was very much appreciated. Beds are comfy and we all slept very well. Tracey the house keeper was very happy to help with the small issue we had when first arrived and the owners sent me emails with lots of information on (very helpful) and welcoming us to the Barn as well which was nice. We have no hesitation in returning and look forward to doing so .

Property was larger than expected given the photos and we had a very comfortable stay.

We had 2 members in their 80s and they struggled with the steep slope to the property. The listing did say not suitable for people with mobility issues so this was our fault. The barn is down the hill with its own courtyard and has stunning views on 2 sides so the privacy was total. Hathersage is a gem, and if you want to swim every day in a heated lido, the barn is walking distance if you’re mobile. The barn was warm, comfortable, with good TV and Wi-Fi, and the kitchen was very usable. If wet, you’d want more drying facilities but there is an airer under the stairs.
