What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mark - Verified booking

We visited Glascoed on 17th October 2019 for a week, it’s a very nice end of terrace cottage ideally located for touring the Llyn Peninsula.

There are some pros and cons when it comes to Glascoed and we were a bit concerned about some of the other reviews we had read. It’s true to say that the decor is a bit dated especially the sofa and chairs, the living room carpet also had a large hole cut in it which was covered by a rug. The property was however clean when we arrived. The large enclosed back garden was ideal for our dogs, or so we thought, however there was a break in the fence adjoining the downstairs bathroom filled with deckchairs and garden debris. On our second day we found out why as a massive aggressive Great Dane and Mixed Breed Mastiff tried to break through and attack our dogs (they appeared to be alone guarding the empty property next door and where allowed out periodically). A couple of days in to our trip I also got a very nasty electric shock off the electric storage heater in the living room (not good considering I have a heart condition), Sykes and the owner quickly got an electrician out to rewire and sort out the problem while we where out at one of our trips to the beach. Another issue is the downstairs toilet and bathroom and some very steep stairs, if you need to pee during the night be prepared for a trek! Despite all the negative issues we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Llyn, I wouldn’t return to Glascoed however until it has been updated a little with some new furniture and furnishings.

What a fabulous break, the most relaxed I’ve been in years.

Lovely view from the huge glass window and patio. Surrounded by fields, peaceful and quiet. Lambs in the fields across were an added bonus, what a beautiful sight. The cottage itself is well presented, with a large comfy bed and the log fire is heavenly. We took provisions so we could at least have a cup of tea when we arrived, but there were tea bags, coffee, sugar, a bag of fresh ground coffee, milk, muesli, a loaf of bread, some Welsh cakes and a bottle of wine - what a lovely treat! Peter was about to great us, and kind enough to lend my husband a jacket, as he’d forgotten to take his own, in March. The hosts then made themselves scarce. Larry the dog was a sweetheart too. It was not too far to the beach and we walked there every day, it’s breathtaking. The whole peninsula was an outdoor lovers haven. We’ve recommended the Sail Loft to family and friends. And despite normally being someone who never goes to the same place twice, I’ve book at the Sail Loft later in the year, which I think speaks volumes about how much we loved it.

We loved the location as it was easy to get to all the beautiful places on the Llyn Peninsula.

The property was spacious and light however with just a couple of additions it could be so be so much better for guests mainly the kitchen area. There's absolutely no worktop space to prepare or put anything. Any flat surfaces are taken up with lovely (and expensive) ornaments but there's just way too many and they dont have any use. Coat hooks in the hall would be a nice touch along with a few more knives and forks in order to make and eat a meal. The garden is a large meadow but not enclosed and the patio isnt private which is stated on the description. The patio area is overlooked by the friendly owners and their dog as the accommodation was, up until a few years ago, the garage to their house. The sea views which are mentioned are quite hard to see as you have to look over another neighbours garden but the sunset is a real bonus! If the owners ever decide to make the few changes, particularly with regards to the kitchen, then we would definitely go back!

      Excellent cottage.

Ideal location for exploring the Llyn peninsula and beyond. Brilliant for our dogs, 2 Cavaliers. They were safe in the garden which was shared with next door but that was not a problem, it was secure also the front of the cottage was also enclosed. Only issues we had was the heating never came on. Did report it and Dewi came straight out but it still didn't come on, the cottage next door had the opposite problem their heating never went off so they gave us the logs they bought. The other small issue was you have a washing machine and a line so did some washing but couldn't find any pegs so had to dry the washing on a clothes airer which was under the stairs. No real problem will just take some pegs next time. On the whole very pleased with our stay and would definitely stay there again, if we go to that area.

100% would book The Sail Loft again!

A great little place in a very quiet spot up the hill from the centre of Nefyn. We sadly didn't get good weather so spent more time inside than we'd have liked so a comfy sofa would have been an added bonus. A lovely welcome with a bottle of wine and Barra Brith (my favourite). If you intend on eating in you might want to take a few extra like a bigger frying pan, another saucepan and a good sharp knife. We had lots of things from camping the week previously so managed fine. It's clean, the bed is comfortable and the shower is fabulous. Plenty of very hot water! This a great year round retreat and base for your Welsh trip. Good walking routes on the doorstep, patio for sitting out and a log burning fire for cosy nights. Lovely friendly owners with a gorgeous labrador called Larry. We'll be back!
