A fantastic stay in a beautiful, homely cottage⦠We loved our 5-night stay at The Bottling Shed and would highly recommended for your next mini break.
Perfectly located, in peaceful surroundings, around 5 minutes from Matlock and Matlock Bath. The countryside views were wonderful and the welcome treats were much appreciated. The inside of the cottage was open plan and very cosy complete with log burner and central heating. The seasonal Christmas decorations were a lovely touch. The private walled courtyard, complete with hot tub and patio area was a great place to relax. By car, we visited Bakewell and Haddon Hall which were under 20 minutes away. The beautiful Monsal trail with Chee Dale stepping stones are only 25 minutes away. We saw Ashbourne, Milldale village and Dovedale which were around 30 minutes away. Further afield, we got to Hope Valley within 40 minutes which includes Bamford Edge, Ladybower reservoir and Derwent Dam. There are two supermarkets only 5 minutes away by car (M&S and Sainsburyâs). We had some great food in the Peak District. Weâd highly recommend Lovage in Bakewell, The Duncombe Arms in Ashbourne, The Bulls Head in Holymoorside and The Bluebell in South Wingfield. Matlock Bath has several fish and chip shops and The Seafood Cave & Grill. We also ate at The Fishpond while there. For brunch/lunch and a sweet treat, Butter Fingers in Matlock was amazing! Thanks so much for a lovely mini-break.

I donât often write reviews but after our recent stay I felt I needed too.
Karen and Richard couldnât have been nicer and left a wonderful welcome basket x The barn is immaculate and whoever cleans the barn needs acknowledging . The appliances and kitchen equipment are of the highest standard and there is nothing that is missed. The boot room is heaven , with every thought on how to look after a muddy dog after the wonderful walks, from doggy shampoo to drying coats. We have never stayed in such a well appointed and well thought out cottage. From the games available, books, log supply for fire, amazing bath and shower, throws for furniture if your dog is one for settees , to the picture history of the transformation of the barn, there is nothing that has been missed. Great local walks, lovely friendly village. Barley Mow pie night on Wednesdays is recommended ( but donât eat for the whole day in preparation) , The Kings Head is very friendly and reasonable pub prices. What a find! Thank you so much Karen and Richard for a most relaxing and comfortable break and congratulations - your hard work has definitely paid off ! Amanda , Paul and Maisie

The property has recently been renovated from a barn originally from the eighteen hundreds and the specification is really high.
It's well thought out and has little extras that are not always a consideration in a holiday let. Spacious with a large bathroom with standing bath and jacuzzi shower. The Kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, airfryer (never had one of these in a holiday let before) microwave, oven, kettle, toaster and coffee making machine. A comfortable declining sofa, large screened TV and a log fire. Its in the derbyshire village of Bonsall whichi is super quaint and quiet but big enough to enjoy a walk around and many roads lead to public walking paths so alot to do. Two country pubs we went for a drink at the Kings Head which was old and traditional and friendly. Our hosts Richard & Karen were welcoming and on hand if we needed anything which we didn't. Worth evening penny and we will definately go back to this one. It is dog friendly and although we don't have pets ourselves we noticed the facilities on hand for your pouches which were all stored in a separate room on the ground floor. Highly recommend, best one we have been to on Sykes yet.

This place is a real home from home.
I love how truly pet friendly it is, with enclosed garden, and all things dog considered (throws for bed/sofa, spare towels and dog coats and shampoo). The Barn is so cosy and has been fitted out to the highest standard. It is beautiful. It has everything you could need for some time away. The kitchen is fully kitted out for cooking. There wasnât a single thing I could have needed that they hadnât already considered. The owners live just across the road. But it remains very private. As a solo traveller this did put me at ease. They even offered to assist me with unloading my car, which was very kind. There is a pub only a 5 minute walk or so down the road. I didnât visit but I did notice it had very good reviews! Itâs close to a lot of good walks such as Carsington Water and the High Peak Trail, and walks straight from the doorstep. Absolutely loved me time here with my pup and will definitely look to come back soon. Highly recommend!

Had a lovely Christmas break at this delightful little cottage.
There was a decorated Xmas tree to greet us on our arrival, also delicious Victoria sponge cake and Prosecco. Very much appreciated Julie, thank you! The cottage was extremely clean and comfortable and the log fire was an added bonus. The kitchen was well equipped, with everything needed to cook a Christmas dinner. Lovely walks right on the doorstep if you donât wish to venture far. Our German Shepherd Rane absolutely loved it, she was particularly interested in the sheep that roam around having never encountered one before. I would highly recommend this cottage, the owners are so friendly and helpful. The only problem for us was access into the property. My husband is disabled and struggled with getting in and out , partly my fault as I should have done a bit more research before booking.
