What our customers say about their holidays

    • Maria - Verified booking

I booked this cottage very spontaneous and was so happy to have the special deal at the time!

Thankyou, Goslings is set in a beautiful rural setting on the boarders of Devon and Cornwall! It was stunning as shown in the photos cosy homely clean and everything you need for a break away! I travelled with my teenage son, 2small dogs and elderly 80+ parents one with a wheelchair but still abled to walk around freely this was ideal as all on a ground level just 2 steps to the entrance! My father has early dementia so the surroundings are pretty safe as there is nowhere for him to roam especially at night as it is pitch black no street lighting. I would probably recommend a lantern or torch for late last min outside toileting for pets. WiFi is pretty good and good tv selection and fantastic selection of board games and cards!! On arrival the cream-tea and homemade scones were very welcoming! The rain had been poring heavily on our arrival. I never thought to pack my walking boots. So it was very wet and muddy down the lanes, so just be prepared for that matter! Thankfully cleared and rest of week was perfect. I didn’t really have the time before setting off or have much room space in car to bring basic sundries! As it was late the nearest food shop was Waitrose we were limited to time, it closed at 9 so a quick shop became a bit pricey really! Nevertheless the Nearest supermarket is bude 30 mins away, Lidl you can stock up there. Or if your really stuck for time and just need a few bits there is a BP garage about 5 mins away open until 11pm hope that helps. The cottage I have to say was very cosy great power shower a nice bath for a soak. Lovely welcome basket for dogs with towels and bowls doggy treats etc! The beds were extremely comfy we all slept like logs! Lol nice garden at the back to chill have a glass of wine and listen to the birds and be at touch with nature! Sally and Charlie owners live on the farm next door. Friendly and helpful. They were there if you needed them, but left you to your own devices Thank you once again for your hospitality and our stay at your cottage was a memorable one hope to see you again!

Myself and my husband came to stay with our two daughters at the end of October.

Our stay was wonderful! The cream tea on arrival was absolutely lovely and much needed after a journey and the lit fire was most welcoming on a cold evening. The cottage is lovely and cosy and has absolutely everything you will need. We looked forward to returning to it every evening after a day out. And the bed has to be the most comfortable I have ever slept in! I’d have the best night sleeps there and would look forward to getting back into bed every evening! The cottage has a garden too, which unfortunately as it rained for most of our stay, we didn’t get to spend much time in, but it was lovely to look out to and watch all the little birds feeding. Charlie, the owner is so helpful and friendly and is just next door. I would recommend purchasing some of his honey and eggs. They are delicious! We purchased some for ourselves and some to bring back as gifts for relatives. My daughters didn’t want to leave and my eldest said she’d like to move in forever! We would absolutely love to come back to stay here again, we are expecting a little boy in the spring so would love to return later next year and in the meantime, I’ll definitely be recommending The Goslings to others!

      The cottage is quite idyllic.

We were met by the owner, Sally, on arrival who was just so welcoming. The freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream were there. If we had arrived at 4pm, they would have been warm, just out of the oven. This all says so much about the stay. The cottage is ideally suited for exploring Devon and Cornwall. It is so picturesque and the lounge looks out on to a well maintained garden with fields beyond. In addition to the birds you would expect , we were visited by a pheasant. The owner keeps hens and you should take advantage of the eggs on sale; they are delicious. The cottage is a good size. It was absolutely spotless with fresh flowes in the lounge and bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances. The lounge has two good sized, comfortable sofas. There was no need to use the log burner (logs supplied) as the house was so warm. Central heating was excellent. All beds were so comfy; never slept so well in a long time.Bed linen and towels were of good quality. The quality of the cottage is credit to the owners who obviously keep it well maintained and up to date. The service they provide is excellent. A smashing couple. I highly commend this cottage.

Had a lovely, relaxing time in the country.

So laid back we were nearly horizontal. Charly and Sally who owned the properety were lovely people and ensured that we had a great stay. The cottage was clean, comfortable, warm and snug. Lovely and quiet, plus wild birds in the garden thanks to the feeders that were re-filled on a regular basis. The cottage was decorated for Christmas as well. Harley, our Collie cross was well catered for too with covers to put on the sofas, food and drinking bowls supplied along with mats and treats for her too! We also had a Christmas hamper, courteously supplied by Charly and Sally. Lovely walks around Bradford too. Had a super time and will definately recommend Goslings to anyone looking for peace and quiet. A lovely old church within the grounds too, which is left open during the day for reflection and prayer. Although it rained every day, it was not a problem as in the cottage is a nice log burner!!! Lovely and toasty after a cold, fresh walk! A wonderful holiday.

‘Goslings’ is such a good find for us.

It’s away from the crowds but close enough, if you are organised, to a range of shops and supermarkets and it is about 30 minutes to Bude and its surrounding area. This was our second stay at Goslings and everything has to be of high quality for us to return to a holiday property! Sally and Charlie give a really friendly welcome. They are next door if you need them but equally are happy to leave you alone. For us the fact that Goslings is dog friendly is very important. Your 4 legged visitors have bowls, mats, shower hose, towels, poo bags and a bag of treats in their welcome pack and the 2 legged visitors are treated to a wonderful homemade Devon Cream Tea. With regards to Sykescottages.co.uk we have used their services quite a few times now and have been really happy with their communications, reminders etc. The Dozzies from Southampton give 10/10 for both ‘Goslings’ and ‘Sykes’!
