What our customers say about their holidays

    • Tracey - Verified booking

We had a wonderful stay at The Lodge, from arrival it felt like a home from home.

The layout of the ground floor is excellent and we made the most of the amazing views from both the conservatory to the front, and orangery to the rear. We were fortunate to have had a sunny and hot week, so the bifold windows in the orangery were always open in an evening. Just the sounds of sheep and birds it was bliss. The property is extremely comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. A couple of niggles which let it down slightly - on arrival the kitchen (orangery) floor had not been swept, and there were crumbs over the worktops. It didn't take long for us to rectify this, but it would have been nice not to have needed to. Also, the front garden was in some need of maintenance, the grass desperately needed cutting and the flowers were struggling through the weeds. Elsdon is a great spot for exploring and The Lodge is ideally situated. We can't wait to visit again next year.

Thank you for a lovely stay! The welcome hamper was a really nice gesture and the scones were so yummy. Rooms were really comfortable and we had everything that we could need. Such a great base for exploring the coast and what a great view! I’d recommend both Lord Crew & Castle Inn for afternoon tea – dog friendly too! Great walk to Seahouses along the beach and interesting to visit Bamburgh Castle. Holy Island well worth a visit but Lindisfarne currently being renovated and has nothing in it which was a bit disappointing. Alnwick Gardens were fabulous and i can imagine the grounds would be beautiful in the summer. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit the castle – but we will definitely be back with Coquet Cottages soon too experience it then! We will definitely be back.

A really cosy and welcoming cottage, cleverly and sympathetically converted from the original barn, but still totally in harmony with it's fabulously remote location, The hosts were lovely and we really appreciated the trouble they took to makes us feel at home, to the extent of having lit the wood burning stove for our arrival. The cottage décor and furnishings were just right for the location and property style, but the view out the window was so stunning the rest paled into insignificance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was a wonderful relaxing base from which to explore Northumberland for the first time. Hopefully we'll get back again soon.

The Lodge is a very spacious, immaculate detached cottage.

For two people, it is one of the largest we have stayed in, plenty of room, utility, parking space etc. Everything you think you will need, is there!! It is warm, cosy and very very pleasant, with wonderful views from both the rear orangery and the front conservatory! A wonderful, wonderful holiday cottage, ideal for just getting away from it all. The stunning Northumberland is an added bonus! Great walking country. John is a brilliant host and am sure nothing would be too much trouble for him to ensure you had a lovely holiday in his lovely property.

We have had such a lovely time staying at The Hermitage – love, love, love the view from the bedroom and the lounge! The cottage is so well equipped, clean and comfortable. Thank you for the welcome basket – that was a lovely touch (yummy cheese scones!). We have had great walks along the beach, climbing over rocks and playing in the sand. We had a gorgeous meal at The Potted Lobster and a yummy Sunday lunch at the Victoria Hotel. We are a family of 6 and have all had a totally fantastic time. I’m sure we will be back! Thank you.
