What our customers say about their holidays

    • Bernard - Verified booking

The cottage was very clean and beautifully furnished and the position was peaceful and rural.

The owners were very friendly. The lemon drizzle cake was fab. The only issue we had (which we discussed with the owner) was that the fridge/freezer mentioned in the listing was not a fridge/freezer but a small fridge with an icebox. We tend to shop for the week on our way to a cottage and always choose a venue with a freezer so it was disappointing to arrive and find just an icebox. The owner did offer to put stuff in her freezer, but this would have been very inconvenient for all parties. Nobody else seems to have mentioned this in their feedback, so perhaps we are the only people who truly self-cater and like a freezer to store bread and rolls so that we don't have to shop more than once. Apart from this one issue, The Croft is a perfect place for a holiday.

We had a lovely time in the Peak District.

The croft was just perfect, out in the countryside, (lovely views across fields), it's own private patio garden too, but close to so much of the area for visiting and walking. We were greeted on arrival by Julie, who just happened to be near the cottage. So she took us in and showed us around and told us about heating etc. The most delicious lemon drizzle cake was left for us, along with some milk, tea, coffee etc. Several NT properties aren't too far away, and beautiful Chatsworth House a little bit further afield. Dovedale and Ilam is not far and we enjoyed a lovely walk there, although the car park, though it's large can be very busy. Weather was a bit up and down, but this was September and only to be expected. Thank you for your hospitality

      Super hosts!

The cottage was fabulous. I loved all the little touches like the key fob (I bought a similar one from the lovely craft summerhouse!), the lemon drizzle cake left for us, the beautiful fresh flowers in the kitchen window and the super special big dog blanket. Loved the hare picture too. Outside the view was lovely. Laying on the sun lounges amongst the lovely garden flowers listening to just the bird songs was so nice and great to meet Jordan the resident chicken! Restful, peaceful luxury with a feeling of warmth and friendliness - fantastic. Nice pub a short, sheep enhanced, dog walk away. It was just what we hoped it would be and just as shown on the internet if not better. Thank you xx

Instant reaction when entering The Croft was a big WOW!

bedroom Big Wow! this accomodation is perfect in every way. The welcome gestures were lovely, Family are very friendly and helpful, We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and this one came out Top for us. The location is great, in a quiet secluded spot yet well situated for lots of villages and several lovely pubs which did great meals. There are lots of places to visit, some disappointing due to the covid rules (most little studio shops and cafes were closed - only doing take aways) but that was understandable and did not spoil our holiday. We loved the area and plan to be back to The Croft next year all being well.

We loved the isolation of this property to enjoy complete peace and quiet.

Couldn't fault the cottage with everything we needed to cook our home made meals and really comfortable. Owners were very generous with provisions and home made cake was perfection! Would be good to have one of the beds as proper double (2 singles together in both rooms so you do end up in the gap in middle). Walks from doorstep although finding way back to farm wasn't easy for us (from Rushley Bridge make sure you go past farm buildings before taking left signpost off road). We did 2 day walks from house but some of the other well known Peaks walks were about an hour's drive away. Ilam Park very close by was beautiful.
