What our customers say about their holidays

    • Iain - Verified booking

I needed a nearby stay whilst my property purchase in Holyhead neared completion, this was my third Sykes Cottages stay on the island.

Overall, really pleased with this property. Just the right size for me, everything I needed for a solo 9-day stay. My only negatives would be: oddly, only 1 wine glass in the cupboard (can't help to think if a couple stayed); the freezer part of the fridge hasn't been defrosted in a year or more, it is compacted ice, so I couldn't use it; as mentioned by previous reviews, the walls are thin, for 3/4 days mid-stay the cottage to the rear (No.7) had some pretty noisy people in moving furniture & dragging boxes around, every drawer opened and closed resonates into No.6. On the estate, I was a little perturbed by a knock on the door late one afternoon, a man peering through the window at me... on opening the door he asked to 'test the smoke detector'. He had no ID when asked. I then noticed that he simply let himself into the next properties he wanted to check... what if I'd have been upstairs in the shower or bed, would he have just let himself in ? One of the comfiest beds I've encountered... I'd certainly stay again.

Very bumpy dirt track down to properties but sea views were amazing.

Property was very tastefully decorated with everything you need.Would stop for supplies on route as there is nowhere close by we could find to pick up milk, butter ect. Robes are available for hot tub but one was very badly stained so didn’t use.Hot tub was across the lane from stable and down some very overgrown steps ,lovely big size but had all bits and sand on seats and floor which was a concern as to if it had been cleaned before our arrival. Lights not working around hot tub area which was a shame as it would have made the pretty little garden area more useable at night. Neither of us had phone signal with Vodafone or Tesco so lucky there was Wi-Fi. Stripped bed on departure and was horrified to find the really comfy bed we had been sleeping on had a very badly stained mattress protector which should be replaced immediately. Stable was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay there but It needs more attention to details to make it perfect.

Lovely shepherd's hut set in a beautiful location, gorgeous views over the hills and the sea and so peaceful and quiet.

There was a kestrel sitting on the hut when we arrived, lovely to see. The actual shepherd's hut was very charming and comfortable, especially the bed. Plenty of room in the shower, though the bathroom is very small and can be hard to move in. There was a Lovely decking area to sit outside and admire the views. Unfortunately the log burner wasn't working but we rarely got cold. There are some amazing clifftop walks nearby, we went to the range and saw a seal on the beach and some breathtaking views. South stack is definitely worth a visit and Trearddur bay has Lovely beaches and walks and the sea shanty is definitely worth a visit. We really enjoyed our holiday and would totally recommend it to everyone. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely Shepherd's hut, we would definitely like to return one day.

A lovely quiet hidey hole to get away from it all.

The little secret garden and hot tub made for a very relaxing break. The accommodation was spotless clean when we arrived and well equipped with a nice little welcome card to greet us. Kitchen had everything you needed but just missed being able to wash towels to keep them fresh, as there was no washing machine. The directions to the cottage were spot on and it was so easy to find. Lovely places to visit included Plas Newydd and Penryn Castle, and finding the little bays located along the coast line was particularly enjoyable. We walked along the coastal path towards Wilfa Power Station, which was quiet and very scenic. In the times of the "pandemic" this was an ideal and safe location to stay. We would highly recommend this as a couples break.

This is an idyllic, cosy, warm, clean, stable for 2 people.

Well equipped, with a bigger than expected bathroom with a shower that lets you choose the settings. I hate the over head showers only!! So that’s a big tick from me. The owner obviously takes a lot of pride in it. It is set in a beautiful part of North Wales. The garden has lots of old quirky ornaments. We had amazing nights sleep as it’s pitch black and silent at night, away from traffic and street lights. The hot tub is a bonus. We are definitely returning as soon as we can get a booking, it’s fully booked up and although I want to leave a good review I really don’t want it becoming too popular or I’ll never be able to return!!! Thank you Tracey. It’s perfect
