What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Fiona Sherwood - Verified booking

Lovely apartment to stay in; we all enjoyed it very much. Light & airy, spacious, clean & with all the mod cons’; very high spec apartment! Just a couple of things to note: •The accuracy of the off street parking. We were unsure where it was. We tried the first gate/entrance and couldn’t get in. Tried the code we’d been given many times but obviously it didnt work as it wasn’t the correct entrance! Wasted time and was stressful as we didn’t know what to do. Until, after a while, we then realised the was another entrance. Also code for building was different too to the one you gave us. •My parent’s shower in their bedroom didn’t work at all during our stay. We tried to work why on a few occasions but then they had to use our bathroom, as the water was going from burning hot to freezing cold; which was a real shame as it was a bit of a treat for them as they don’t have one at home. So that was a bit of a let down. •On the first morning of our stay I was enjoying the beautiful view and was then sprayed by the window cleaner who didn’t call a warning to say he/she was cleaning the balcony windows. I was soaked and it went into my eye. Very glad that the water didn’t have cleaning fluid in it otherwise it would have been a trip to A&E for me! Might be an idea for them to do it earlier in the morning or when there isn't anyone staying there! •Just so you’re aware - one of the screws has come out of the railings overlooking the beach so is quite loose. •A suggestion for more instructions about how to use things would be great also. The flat became very warm at times and we tried to lower the heating or even try and put air con on to no avail so we ended up just turning it off (once we knew how!) so would be good to have instructions for that plus the oven/microwave/hob! If it was just my parents staying there they wouldn’t have had a clue how to use anything! The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils crockery cutlery etc and we enjoyed some lovely meals together at the dining table. The view was absolutely fantastic and we had the best weather all week. I would come back for that view alone! Just one more thing to add, when I opened the oven door for the first time something ‘fell out’ of underneath the door, almost as if it had been balanced in there. No idea what it is/was but we put it back there. Thanks Fi Sherwood

Sat 07 Sept 24 - Thurs 12th Sept 24 We are very disappointed in our stay at this apartment as primarily our reason for choosing it and what we paid for fell short in the following areas.

Firstly I’d like to address what was advertised in the description which we simply didn’t have. (I have screenshots of the apartment description if u need to see them) A Smart TV. There was no tv in this property whatsoever and we wouldn’t have booked if we knew this. We have a small child with us and on rainy days we could have used a smart tv to watch a movie, also it would have been nice to have the morning news on everyday. A Microwave, there was no microwave which made it very difficult to warm our babies milk in the morning and night and also warm up baby food throughout the day. The large extractor fan above the kitchen island doesn’t work and created lots of smoke when cooking. The extractor on the wall isn’t fit for purpose and is the opposite side of the kitchen. The garden is half finished. Not very nice to look at, and should feature in the photos as we were under the impression we’d have a recently refurbished garden as advertised. There wasn’t enough warm water for 4 people to have a quick shower each morning. This meant our son had a cold shower most mornings and there was no warm water throughout the day until 2pm. This again wasn’t advertised. The WiFi is incredibly slow as well. This combined with no tv meant we couldn’t even stream movies on our phones very well. I look forward to seeing what compensation u can offer based on the simple fact that what was advertised and paid for wasn’t provided. As a business owner myself, if I advertise a product and don’t deliver on what I advertised, I cannot in good faith charge for something that is essentially false advertisement. Kind Regards, Tony

We have stayed at Heron four times.

The location is lovely and the parking is a bonus. However this year we were disappointed with how dirty the apartment was. We had to clean the fridge before we could use it. The oven is in desperate need of a clean. We used it once but the smell of old burnt food was overwhelming. There is a desperate lack of kitchen utensils, no decent frying pan for example, which along with the dirty oven made self catering a challenge. The bathroom is mouldy ( a point picked up in previous reviews) and has gotten worse over time. The furniture is also tired and the sofa was quite uncomfortable. The curtains are ripped ( as they were last year ). The rug is a trip hazard. As I said, a parking space is a bonus but this year the signs were all broken and it was unclear where to park . We returned one day to find no space which was really frustrating. I reported all these issues to the holiday company and in fairness they offered to redo the cleaning but we declined. I also reported the main issues again when we returned home, but no response hence this review. Heron has been our ‘go to’ place in St Ives and has represented good value for money but we shan’t return until there are improvements, but if you value location and lovely views across the harbour above all else this is probably the place for you.

A charming flat which overlooked st Ives in possibly the best location you could ask for and only a few mins walk into the village / Town.

The apartment was well equipped for our stay. Including bedding and fluffy towels etc. Parking was a short 10 min walk from the property. Their are a few things that need to be addressed in the property for improvement: - the bed, the mattress is awful :( the bed is a small double (I believe) so we both ended up sleeping on our sides. - the WiFi (it only work in the communal corridor) the problem is the signal strength does not cater for the property and needs its own connection to a modem. The WiFi boosters simply do not offer any form of WiFi to the apartment. - final night of our stay the battery to the smoke alarm was going off ALL night - intermittent beeping (battery went). - bathroom mould on the ceiling, bathroom could do with a lick of paint. We do understand there is no window hence the reason for this happening. But requires addressing as a “luxury” apartment / flat. Overall a pleasant stay ( apart from the last night with the smoke alarm). “What 3 word” location ///cobbles.liberated.able for anyone who finds the property hard to find as couldn’t find on Google.

      The flat itself was lovely.

It was clean, spacious and appeared well maintained. Unfortunately the promised welcome pack wasn’t there on our arrival but the owner kindly sorted this out by the following morning which was really welcome! Sadly, our stay at this flat was ruined by the noise from the restaurant below. Yes, the fact the flat is above a restaurant is mentioned in the details but the reality of this situation was very upsetting for us. There is clearly no soundproofing between the restaurant and the flat and you can feel vibrations from the music and conversations through the bedroom floors which went on until very late in the night, keeping us all awake and upsetting the children greatly. Sleep and rest while on holiday is vital but this situation resulted in only getting minimal sleep each night and coming home feeling horribly tired and disappointed. It’s such a shame the restaurant noise has spoilt such a lovely flat and a potentially relaxing holiday. We sadly would not recommend this particular place, sorry.
