What our customers say about their holidays

      Where does one start?

Port View is one of three apartments on different floors (number 5), above us was the quiet number 6, but on the top (number 7) was a different kettle of fish. Our first night was ruined by the noisy sounds of a music rave which lasted until the early hours of Saturday. We had an inkling something was wrong when around 4pm on the Friday afternoon, when a number of people entered the complex (our apartment is right by the front door) shouting on the stairs etc, and our concerns grew when loud music began to play. The volume increased during the evening and at that point we were thinking of going home. We went out for a meal hoping on our return everything would have quieted down. No such luck, in fact on our return we saw for ourselves one young man shouting from a top window, the entry code to the complex to his mates below on the road. Consequently more people entered the building and we began to feel nervous of what could happen to us. Next day we informed Sykes and to their credit got things sorted out with a promise we would not be disturbed again. (Port View is the only apartment under Sykes’ control) The rest of the week was quiet, but it did leave us on edge waiting for something else to kick off. Another problem about Port View is where it is. We read the owners instructions on how to find the apartment which were wholly inadequate and poorly written, in fact it needed a phone call to the very helpful manager (Sue) prior to going, to sort out how to approach the building. Another hassle was the parking of the car in the allotted parking space. Our car is a Mini but we still found it tight. One morning we entered the garage to find another car parked right by us which would have prevented us from accessing the car (by luck we hadn’t planned using it), if we had it would have required one of us to open the car window and squeeze through head first!! Overall it was a hard holiday, unable to really feel relaxed, with concerns over apartment 7, and issues with the parking. This leads to the question of Port View’s suitability as a holiday let, and should it really be included in Sykes’ portfolio? Can I end stating once again that the company did a great job in handling our problems and concerns, we had no complaints about the comfort of Port View either, but needless to say , we will not be coming back.

Sat 07 Sept 24 - Thurs 12th Sept 24 We are very disappointed in our stay at this apartment as primarily our reason for choosing it and what we paid for fell short in the following areas.

Firstly I’d like to address what was advertised in the description which we simply didn’t have. (I have screenshots of the apartment description if u need to see them) A Smart TV. There was no tv in this property whatsoever and we wouldn’t have booked if we knew this. We have a small child with us and on rainy days we could have used a smart tv to watch a movie, also it would have been nice to have the morning news on everyday. A Microwave, there was no microwave which made it very difficult to warm our babies milk in the morning and night and also warm up baby food throughout the day. The large extractor fan above the kitchen island doesn’t work and created lots of smoke when cooking. The extractor on the wall isn’t fit for purpose and is the opposite side of the kitchen. The garden is half finished. Not very nice to look at, and should feature in the photos as we were under the impression we’d have a recently refurbished garden as advertised. There wasn’t enough warm water for 4 people to have a quick shower each morning. This meant our son had a cold shower most mornings and there was no warm water throughout the day until 2pm. This again wasn’t advertised. The WiFi is incredibly slow as well. This combined with no tv meant we couldn’t even stream movies on our phones very well. I look forward to seeing what compensation u can offer based on the simple fact that what was advertised and paid for wasn’t provided. As a business owner myself, if I advertise a product and don’t deliver on what I advertised, I cannot in good faith charge for something that is essentially false advertisement. Kind Regards, Tony

Two couples staying in Feb 2023 and were lucky with the weather.

The apartment looks exactly like the photos only with more space. The views are amazing, the location is steps away from bars, restaurants, shops and of course the beach. We were mesmerised every morning watching the waves crashing on the beach from the bedrooms or the comfy Lshaped sofa. We loved the high/low tide clock. The mini welcome packs in the kitchen and bathroom (dishwasher tablets, w-up liquid, shampoo, body wash, biscuits, tea, coffee) were a nice touch. The water pressure in the shower was good and the bath towels huge and great quality. The kitchen had every utensil you needed but of course you'll need your own condiments and extra kitchen roll etc. The building itself is very well maintained (corridors we're being painted whilst we were there) and secure with key code entry and there is also a key safe so you don't have to take the key out with you to the beach. There is also a lift but as the apartment is on ground level we found it easier to use the slope from the car park, especially whist unloading/loading the car. Despite being February most of the town was open for business. We didn't venture far by car but we did walk the coastal path to St Agnes to take in more of the amazing sea views. There is also a bus to bring you back! Thank you for an amazing stay we can't recommend Chapel Rock View enough.

We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful week staying at Chapel Rock.

The booking process was simple and the owner James sent lots of really helpful information so we knew exactly how to access the property and how to use things such as the heating. I was still a pain and asked questions such as the beach gate access code which James had already given me, but he kindly gave it to me again. Once we arrived at the property we were thrilled with the wonderful view from both bedrooms and the lounge across the fantastic beach out to the sea. The property was spotless and very spacious and provided with everything that we needed, the towels are massive and soft which was much appreciated, we played monopoly which is in the apartment with our daughter a couple of nights. Having Netflix really helped to keep our 3 year entertained whilst we got ready to head out the door and down the steps to the wonderful beach.
