St. Austell features a mainline train station that provides quick and easy access to Truro and further south to Penzance, as well as a wide variety of pubs and restaurants and delicious local cuisine. Getting to Newquay from the surrounding area by train requires a simple transfer at the close-by station of Par. Plan interesting day trips to The Eden Project or the nearby historical port of Charlestown to view artefacts discovered from local ship wrecks at the Shipwreck Treasure Museum. Visit Porthpean Beach for a relaxing stroll along the sands or to paddle a kayak through the quiet, clear seas, then treat yourself at The Clearing Spa or play a round of golf at the St. Austell Golf Club. On your way back to your holiday rental from a day out and about, stop at the local supermarket and pick up some fresh ingredients to prepare a delicious meal and a bottle of wine for a relaxing evening in. Like the description says though, the bedroom on the ground floor is right on the main road and - window closed, or not - you hear the traffic all night and day. Also - while super convenient, if you forgot to buy bread - there is a constant flow of traffic in and out of the Tesco's opposite. Unfortunately in the (ground floor) bedroom you can also hear the people in the other apartment upstairs walking around, which gets annoying, if you are on holiday and hoping to sleep in a bit. The downstairs (sublevel) bathroom is a tricky place, as it is basically a shower stall with toilet. There are no walls or curtains to separate the shower, so everything gets very wet. Over all nevertheless, it is a very nice property, fit for up to 4 adults and - if need be - a toddler as there is a child seat, and close enough to town and station etc. to walk there.

The property itself is easy to fin and the rooms all a good size and very comfortable - the kitchen with its large table was a favourite meeting/talking spot and the lounge very comfortable. The bedrooms were a good size and beds comfortable, although clothes storage is quite limited for anything other than a short break and the lower ground bedroom has quite a low ceiling for those that are tall. The bathrooms are as described although it would be beneficial to have some form of shower in there as a bath alone isn't hugely practical (but does look good), as it means you really need to share the downstairs wet room if you just shower. The wet room itself is slightly problematic as it gets and stays very wet, as does everything inside it, including things like toilet rolls - especially when four people are using it. Whilst it wasn't a huge problem and didn't detract from our stay it doesn't make for the best experience. Overall the place is really nice and in a convenient location for things in the area, and road noise wasn't an issue (not even the band in the social club directly opposite - unless you are a very light sleeper. As long as you are happy sharing a bathroom the convenience and comfort make this property worth considering.
