What our customers say about their holidays

    • Judy - Verified booking

Car parking was supposed to have been provided.

It turned out that the "allocated space" was over 200 yards from the apartment and it was VERY tight (with a ford fiesta), plus you had to manoeuvre into it from the main road through Boscastle with one side being a blind bend. My husband is very good at parking but having knocked his wing mirror twice, he gave up using the space and used the public car park, which was chargeable from 10 am to 5 pm. To unload our car when we arrived, we were told we could use the double yellows outside the property, but this was taken with another vehicle so we were not able to do so. There was supposed to have been a garden - there wasn't. There was a small courtyard with planters at the front of the property, but this was for access to the whole building. The gate from this courtyard was straight out onto a main road, without pavement, so it was not safe for our daughter. The lounge from the property is partly below the level of the road, so you feel that you are in a basement. Immediately outside the window there was a cafe, so you felt that you needed to have the blind down the whole time to have some privacy. Both bedrooms overlooked the main road so we felt that we had no privacy and had to keep the blinds drawn.

We already fed back regarding extra hooks in the bathroom for long dressing gowns and a grab rail in the shower to avoid slips.

The apartment was modern and well appointed and in a great position for exploring. The car parking was great and everything there we needed. A small bottle of milk would have been appreciated upon arrival. There was plenty of washing up liquid and soap etc but no salt, cooking oil or tea bags so be prepared and bring your own. Village shops expensive as expected. There is a Lidl and Aldi in Wadebridge to get groceries for the week if required. We are two older ladies so the visit to Tintagel Castle on the first day proved exhausting and really too much for us although enjoyable we suffered for the rest of the week with sciatica and aches and pains ... be warned! Local pubs are good but food very expensive so we cooked in the apartment. There are good facilities including a big Wok like pan that was great. We had a week and still didn't explore all the local little shops or even the Arthurian Centre with was only across the road! There is a lot to do round and about and if you are fit and like to walk you will love it. Ideal base for exploring.

I honestly can’t find a single fault with Harbour Light!

We have stayed in a fair few places in Boscastle and my Dad has been visiting for 40 years and this place blew him away. The view of the harbour from the apartment is the best in Boscastle by far, the place was immaculately clean and well furnished. The kitchen and bathroom were top notch and the bedrooms were really comfy. There’s everything in the apartment that you could want and I imagine it is very warm if you visit in winter time. Loading and unloading the car is really easy with plenty of space to pull up right outside the front door, then all you have to do is park at the public car park in the village. If you get a week long ticket with the Just Park app then it works out really cheap daily. At time of writing it cost £15.10 to park for 7 days. Great that you can check in at 3pm, others in the village are much later. The whole thing was very simple. I really couldn’t find a single bad thing to say about our stay, we will be back for sure!

All in all it was just Fab.

.. few little details... would be great to have heated towel rail as hard to get towels dry... spatula for frying pan... less noisy fridge (made some odd noises) and as in same room as bed it was slightly annoying... plus the clock was loud so i took battery out! (I'm extra sensitive and notice even the slightest noise)... The bed would I feel be better round the other way as it was quite dominating in the room although it was very comfortable, or even put a screen to divide... also bed was close to fire surround and stubbed toes several times, ok with cushion on floor... sofa not so comfortable, but we adjusted cushions slightly... would be handy to have a mat for boots by the doors... anyway, these are just me being extra picky, and the artist in me, but feel it would improve the stay even more

The apartment itself was tiny but ok.

But I would not recommend it for 4 people if they are grownups. I booked it via Booking.com where it was described including free parking near the house. After paying the rent and shortly before our holiday started we received an email from the landlord including key collecting and other information. He recommended using the public car park by purchasing a weekly ticket which is about 36£, otherwise there would be a private parking space for a small car after a few houses down the road. When we entered the flat we found an information folder containing it which was mentioned the space would do for a car not bigger than 2 m in width and 1.95 m in height.
