What our customers say about their holidays

    • David - Verified booking

      Excellent stay.

Great location (genuine 5 min from Fistral walking), Crantock too (although we drove and used National Trust carpark). Headlands and town all in comfortable walking distance. Apartments is exactly as described, bright and roomy, consider it good value and great as a base to head out and explore. Reasonable places to eat, again within walking distance, loads more if you want to jump back in the car, same with shopping etc. The only niggle being some renovation /cleaning works were being undertaken on some of the other apartments, so on most days quite noisy from 8am onwards, especially when there were pressure washing the building but not a big deal. Possible areas for improvement (despite giving a 5* rating, so these are quite subjective!): Bedroom ventilation: you can’t have the windows open at night and have a dark room. The carpark lights are really bright and shine directly into the windows, when closed the fitted blackout blinds are super effective, but when open, even a little, the mini suns from the carpark do their thing! - split A/C would be ideal but even a fan would help a little. Supplies: strict building rules about black bagging rubbish but no suitable bags provided. Empty washing up liquid and hand soap bottles in the kitchen. Sainsburys close enough so we could easily purchase, but if you need guests to use a certain type of bag, would be nice if it’s supplied.

We paid £787 for 3 nights and expected more for our money.

The shower room was tiny, the sink was too small for my husband to shave in. The extractor fan ran continually which was very noisy and disrupted our sleep. There was visible mould on the walls in the shower room. The room obviously needs an outside window. The bedroom was dark and depressing and we spent as little time in it as possible. The window in the bedroom opened into the entrance porch and was not an outside window (this was not accurately described in the property details), we were therefore unable to get any fresh air into the bedroom. The bedroom had visible mould growing on the walls and smelt of mildew. the owners were trying to address the problem by placing a dehumidifier in the bedroom which we were asked to keep on at all times apart from at night. The lounge/kitchen was a good size and well stocked, however the kitchen cupboards all smelt of mildew. The whole property was very clean and in a great location. We are frequent travellers and have stayed in many holiday cottages and certainly feel short changed on this one. This is the first time we have ever given negative feedback. We feel a partial refund is appropriate. We felt we paid far too much at £787 for 3 nights.

After our wonderful stay in Whitby we used Sykes again.

On arrival we were shocked at the sparseness of the furnishings. A cavernous loft apartment with only a two seater sofa facing a television. There was a coffee table in front of the sofa. Nothing else! There was a washing machine but on phoning the agent I was told an ironing board and iron was missing as it was a health hazard. I expressed dismay at the lack of furniture and amenities at the apartment and she replied that it belonged to a lovely young couple who had just bought the apartment and couldn’t afford to furnish it!!! The huge bedroom contained one bed and 2 bedside tables and fitted wardrobes. Nothing luxurious. There was nowhere to sit, no dressing table for hair and makeup. Hardly the ‘romantic’ apartment advertised. The agent offered a bottle of Prosecco in compensation but it never arrived. Little things like one tissue in the tissue box, very cheap flimsy lavatory paper and big things like no dishwasher, ironing facilities and four flights of stairs to the apartment were a great disappointment. Nobody with health issues, heart, mobility etc., should consider this apartment. ‘Romantic’ certainly not. For a one bedroom apartment this was greatly overpriced.

This cottage is perfect, the outside seating area is pure tranquility especially in the morning listening to the birds.

The kitchen and lounge area is spacious and extremely welcoming, clean and tidy. On arrival there was a welcome gift of Red Wine and speciality chocolates. The kitchen area was clean and even had tea, coffee etc provided for which we didn’t expect. Tom and Mary had sent us a welcoming text and a contact number if we needed anything at all. The beach is about a 15 minute walk away and is absolutely stunning especially at sunset, I would advise to walk down rather than driving down as the car parks get full very quickly. The local pub The Albion Arms are very friendly, recently they have changed to ordering via the App system which failed on the first night and left people waiting for over an hour, hopefully they have it sorted now. Overall the apartment is in a good location and is perfect for couples to escape to the quite village of Crantock. I would definitely recommend to friends and family and I would 100% stay there again.

Property was excellent and we had a great stay.

Everything was very clean and well organized. Sofa and beds were comfy. Plenty of space for us all to function in the kitchen and living area. Lighting was fantastic. The step in the bathroom was a challenge for all. Would be good to include a streaming device eg Amazon firestick, Google chrome or smart tv for families to stream their own services. An extra towel per person for the week would be appreciated. Blackout blinds/shades in bedrooms would help keep the rooms cooler… a shade for the French doors to keep sun out of the eyes at dinner would help too. Thank you for providing a couple washing tablets for the dishwasher and washing machine as well as basics like paper towel and cling film/foil. The croissants, Prosecco, and coffee etc were a very nice addition. Thank you. The views were amazing and the proximity to the playground fantastic. Great to be so walkable into town for dinner, shopping and obviously the beach!
