Go on a seaside adventure with Devon holiday cottages

Devon in the South West is a great choice for your next staycation, whether you're travelling with friends, family, your better half or even alone.

Home to sandy beaches, surfing, sea views, dense countryside, picturesque towns and villages, and two National Parks, there's a reason it's known as the English Riviera. Plus, there's so much to do, from visiting Dartmoor National Park and its Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty to exploring the South West Coast Path, you'll have plenty to fill your to-do list.

When it comes to Devon holiday cottages, you're in for a treat. Think beautiful holiday homes along the coast with stunning views, or cosy Devon holiday rentals in the heart of the countryside.

At Snaptrip, we'll find you a holiday cottage that ticks all the boxes in this incredible holiday destination. From places to stay with room for the whole family, to pet-friendly places surrounded by epic views and dog-friendly beaches, you're sure to find the perfect base for your Devon holiday.

Why choose a Devon weekend break or staycation?

Devon has one of the most beautiful and varied landscapes in the UK. You'll find picture-perfect beaches, tropical island-worthy sea views, pretty villages, bustling market towns, dramatic National Parks, and jaw-dropping cliffs.

If you're going on a holiday to Devon then a beach trip (or several) should be at the top of your itinerary. The harbour towns that line the coast are like something from a storybook, with sandy, cobbled stone streets, beautiful shops to explore, and plenty of delicious restaurants and cafes to tempt you. Don't forget to indulge in a classic Devon cream tea while you're visiting.

There are so many beautiful beaches to choose from, but some of our favourites include Monmouth Beach, Torre Abbey Sands, Exmouth Beach, Dawlish Beach, and Strete Gate Beach. All of which offer huge stretches of powdery-soft sand and idyllic blue waters, so pack your cossies and lots of sun cream, and enjoy days spent lazing by the coast.

Devon is also home to some of the loveliest towns you can imagine. From vibrant towns soaked in history to sweet villages immersed in spectacular countryside.

Lyme Regis is the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The sleepy and laidback atmosphere will help you unwind as you wander around the countryside, stroll along the coast, mooch around the pretty harbour, and pop into shops and cafes in the town.

If you're a fan of the classic British sitcom Fawlty Towers, why not stay in the town where the iconic hotel is based? Torquay in the heart of the English Rivera is packed with lots to see and do. The continental vibe of the town is ideal for a seaside holiday, with a lovely marina to explore, Abbey Sands Beach to chill out on, and a classic seaside promenade to spend your evenings. There are also lots of castles and historical landmarks close by, so make sure you pack your walking shoes.

Exmouth is a lively port town which boasts two miles of golden beaches on the Jurassic Coast. There are lots of fun outdoor activities to get stuck into, and plenty of shops and brilliant places to eat with fresh seafood to keep you full and happy.

If you're craving the buzz of a vibrant town, head to Exeter and explore its bustling Quayside area. Exeter has a history dating back to the Romans and there are lots of attractions to satisfy every history buff, including the incredible cathedral. The dramatic Dartmoor National Park is just a short drive away, so you can pack up the car and head off on an adventure.

With so much to see and do in this gorgeous part of the UK, you're only challenge is choosing which location your Devon holiday cottage should be in.

Thousands of Devon holiday rentals to choose from

Our range of cottages has been carefully selected to ensure they have everything you need to have a holiday you'll never forget. You'll find properties with cosy bedrooms, driveways, private gardens to take in the views, kitchens and lounges to cook and relax in, and all the home comforts you could want.

Some of our properties even have extra special features including swimming pools, hot tubs, games rooms, and awe-inspiring views. With many of our holiday homes being pet-friendly, even your furry pal can come along and join in the fun.

Whether you choose a rustic cottage in the Devonshire countryside, a contemporary cottage on the edge of the water, or a spectacular converted barn complete with a hot tub, our huge range of holiday cottages has something for everyone.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Dionysios - Verified booking

There are so many great things about this cozy, welcoming cottage it's hard to know where to start.

Its central location is perfect for visiting all corners of Devon and only half hour from Cornwall. Meldon reservoir is within walking distance, leading to direct access to the moors and Yes Tor. The setting is peaceful and tranquil with beautiful flower gardens, free range chickens, wildlife and views of the moors opposite. There is a spectacular view of Yes Tor from the master bedroom and the big double bed is divine! The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, leading onto a private patio, dining area. There is a very generous welcome pack, including free range eggs, which we appreciated having arrived quite late. The owners have created a really welcoming and relaxing holiday home here and it's evident that a lot of care and thought have been given to ensure visitors' experience is perfect. Thank you.

Our stay and the cottage was absolutely magical.

The location is perfect with outstanding views and a rural feel yet only minutes from the town of Okehampton. Chickens and ducks wandering past the window was an entertaining treat, and the kindly provided eggs gave a welcoming touch. Not to mention the milk, jam, cream, scones and more! The choice of walks and visitor attractions nearby gave us more than enough to do. In the cottage we found everything we needed thoughtfully laid out to make it feel like home. The quality of everything was very high, comfy beds, good linen and plenty of towels. The adjoining games room was a very special extra providing a huge range of games and DVDs. The hosts were friendly, accomodating and went beyond the usual to make us feel welcome. We just can't thank them enough.

The Owners were welcoming and friendly.

We did have a few issues which did get sorted although the oven took a week. The beds were comfortable and the barn was warm, the settees left a lot to be desired. The woodburner popped on top outside when lit even when the damper was closed definitely needs servicing. Worst thing is the road it is more potholes than road I can't see the council doing anything with this being a no through road when there are so many other roads needing attention, maybe they can try and do something themselves, there are no passing places and on meeting a land rover and trailer I had to reverse quarter of a mile until he could pass. It did stop us going back lunch time to go back out in afternoon as one bone shaker a day was quite sufficient.

This stay by far exceeded my expectations.

The photos don’t do the accommodation justice, it was beautiful. When we opened the door we were wowed. The one thing I was upset about being away from home for Christmas was not having a Christmas tree, but to my surprise there had a beautiful tree set up in the living room which was beyond perfect. It was homely, spacious, cosy, with stunning views. Lovely local walks to take the dog. Only thing I will say is don’t underestimate the narrow roads around the area and road leading to the cottage, it’s bumpy, dark and quite a squeeze with a large 4x4 but it just made the journey even more exciting. Ellen and her partner were a delight. Definitely will be staying again.

A very nice property in a lovely quiet location.

The view from.the lounge/garden is stunning. Positives - the cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable and welcoming. There are lots of lovely walks and interesting places close by. Tavistock is a gem of a town and very welcoming and dog friendly. Negatives - the garden is not dog proof so be prepared to use a lead unless your dog has perfect recall. Ours are pretty good but it was still a concern. The WiFi is awful. We counldnt use most of the time but mobile signal is OK. As advised the access isn't suitable.for some vehicles. It is a long single track drive which is rough in places but OK if you approach with caution. No worse than some of the roads!
