This corner of Scotland has largely been unspoilt by the march of time, and as such, it is an excellent place for wildlife spotting. When you’re out enjoying the surrounding countryside, keep your eyes peeled for the birds, butterflies and deer which live here. The nearby forests, moorland and lochs all make for an excellent day in the great outdoors whether you choose to explore by foot or on your bike.

"This is a small but well-equipped cottage, located up a quiet lane just outside the town centre of Taynuilt. It was perfect for me travelling alone, and would be fine (if a little snug) for a couple. The cottage genuinely does have a mountain view - the front window looks out directly to the Stob Dearg (Taynuilt Peak) top of Ben Cruachan (see photo). This is a bit more reliable than the weather forecast for gauging the conditions on the hills! The cottage has good heating (although I barely needed it in mid-July), a decent shower, comfortable bed, and plenty of kitchen equipment. The front room recliner armchairs are also very comfortable, although the wicker table-and-chair set is a bit small. There's an outside sitting area behind the cottage with a bench and some chairs, plus a clothes line for drying (although the cottage doesn't have a washing machine). Although there's no wi-fi, I had good 4G mobile signal so didn't need it - check with your provider, of course, but Taynuilt seems to be well covered."

"A lovely setting for this practically new log cabin. There is no wi fi and no washing machine. The lack of wifi was expected I suppose but a washing machine should really be included. The drive is very steep and there is a sharp bend on it`s steepest point as it passes the owners bungalow half way up , so great care is needed. I found urine on several places on the toilet and the `under rim `area was dirty with that greyness that water deposits over time. the lady owner is elderly and I am presuming she cleans the cabin and other 2 adjacent caravans herself, but to be honest , she is getting a lot of money from us ( over £500 for 3 nights ) so she could employ a cleaner. Overall, a lovely place to stay, nice and quiet and view over Loch Linnhe. Just needs a few tweaks to get a top score, mainly in the cleanliness department."

"Fantastic two weeks in Oban, revisiting places we've been many times before. Flat was spacious and cosy with a great view over the harbour and McCaigs Tower. Oban harbour always has something going on. We loved the 'Still Game' box sets (One of our favourite comedies) so we were never bored on the occasional rainy evening. Mull, Kerrera, Lismore, Iona and Staffa were beautiful as ever and we even managed to get to one of our favourite places in Scotland - Corrour, in the middle of Rannoch Moor. Mario was a cheerful, friendly host who assured us if we had any problems he was only a phone call away. If I had to make one small criticism it would be that the curtains in the bedrooms aren't thick enough when there's a street light right outside. Other than that, excellent. Thanks Mario."

"The cottage was adorable however was very disappointed about the view, there was not any mention of the static caravans parked right outside to the front and side. I checked all the website and and adverts on loads of holiday pages and all the photos only display the cottage. You can book a caravan but there are no pictures. I think anyone turning up there would feel the same. Also there is a great deal of land to the back of the cottage that is a dumping ground and looks unsightly. Such a shame because given a bit of money and time that place could be lovely. The lady that lives in the house on site is Friendly but only see her when arriving and leaving. The toilet door did not shut wich proved extremely embarrassing having to shout out every time someone was using it."

"Spent a wonderful week at S23197 in July with friends. Fantastic accommodation with plenty of space for 6 adults to live comfortably without tripping over each other. Great communal spaces in the open plan living/dining/kitchen area but also room to get away from it all on the terraces. Beautiful and tranquil location yet easy to get around and explore this beautiful part of Scotland.Owners carrying out some ground works to add a decking area and hot tub next to the lodge but asked us if it was ok if they continued work only when we were out for the day. By the end of the day one we were already planning a return trip once the works are finished!Lovely addition of a bird feeder on the balcony kept us entertained watching the local wildlife up close."
