About this property

Inverness 11.4 miles. Purlie Lodge Apartment is a delightful abode located in the lovely lochside village of Abriachan, near Inverness. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, and with a garden space and one king-size bedroom, this property is ideal for a couple looking to explore the wonders of Inverness. Be welcomed into a light and airy open-plan apartment, resting on the first floor. Here you can cook up a storm in the well-fitted kitchen and enjoy a romantic meal for two at the dining table, before settling down in the plush sitting area to enjoy a good book. When sleep calls, freshen up in the sleek en-suite, before catching your rest in the welcoming king-size bedroom. When the sun is shining, make the most of the patio space outside, dining alfresco with a glass of fizz as you admire the wildlife which visits the garden. Regular visitors include red squirrels, pine martins, hares, and beyond the fence, deer. Throughout the year the garden is also visited by approximately twenty-three bird species! Purlie Lodge Apartment is settled into pine woodland and is adjacent to the owner's home in the rural, scattered community of Abriachan. The property is situated high up in the hills which surround Loch Ness, nestled on the A82, almost equidistant between the bustling city of Inverness, and Drumnadrochit. There are many local attractions to be visited, including Urquahart Castle, Glen Affric, Plodda Falls, The Great Glen Way, and for a seaside adventure, Dochgarroch pick up point boat trips. Scenic walks are boasted from your doorstep, so why not visit Abrichan Forest Trust woodland to check out the local wildlife, where you will find breath-taking views of Loch Ness? Walks are varied in length and difficulty, and also offer mountain biking trails for adventurous afternoons, or there is the option of heading into Inverness to enjoy the many independent stores, cafés, restaurants, and pubs. Here there are also attractions including Inverness Cathedral, a selection of museums, Craig Phadrig, a locla golf course, Inverness Botanic Gardens, and dolphin watching at Dolphin Spirit Inverness. There is simply so much to be explored with a stay at the beautiful Purlie Lodge Apartment.

The Capital of the Highlands, the city of Inverness, is the gateway to the countless delights of the Highlands of Scotland. Towering mountains, dark lochs, great forests and precipitous sea cliffs are all within easy reach. Of particular note is the legendary Loch Ness, which is surrounded by some truly breathtaking scenery, although most visitors are usually on the lookout for something a bit more mysterious! Just outside the city is the Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust). The site of the last major battle fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display depicting the battle, whilst a walk on the field serves as a poignant reminder of the clansmen who lost their lives. Inverness itself has much to offer, museums, an art gallery, fine theatre and leisure facilities, not to mention shops, pubs and restaurants. The River Ness flows through the city and both the river and neighbouring Moray Firth are home to a diverse range of wildlife and marine life including red kites, along with dolphins, which can sometimes be seen from the shore, or on trips from the harbour.

The bed was lovely, king-size with clean soft linen, wardrobe storage was vast with loads of hangers, the bedroom also had a great view. Kitchen was clean with everything to cook, launderette and undo that bottle of wine/beer, washing powder/liquid, and cleaning products supplied, large fridge/freezer. Small two seater sofabed, armchair enable you to watch a multi- channel TV (with a dvd player and dvd's available) two person table and chairs to eat at, full instructions to all equipment plus an ever increasing array of things to do, place's to go. This apartment had two toilets, one of which was adjacent to the living area, the other in the shower room, adequate shower and washing facilities with shower gel and soap to use, (might benefit with a mirror over the basin for shaving?) towels quality excellent and plentyful Masses of parking, you could get a coach parked there, getting up to the lodge might be tricky though! The owners, Irene & John are lovely, approachable and friendly, and should be really proud of what they offer, and for that we highly recommend this accommodation.
