    Beauly Holiday Cottages

Beauly, a pretty riverside Highland village, is located in Inverness. The village is famously said to have been given its name after Mary, Queen of Scots visited and declared it was a 'beau lieu', meaning beautiful place. History enthusiasts may like to see the ruins of Beauly Priory, which dates back to the 12th century when it was home to an order of Valliscaulian monks. Visitors can  head to the village square on Thursdays for some authentic Highlands culture and listen to the local bagpipe band. Anyone interested in fishing might try their luck at catching a salmon or sea trout from River Beauly. Alternatively, the town has some excellent independent cafes and delis.

At Snaptrip, we have a charming range of holiday cottages in Beauly with every comfort and feature you could want, from hot tubs to log fires, period features and modern open-plan design. Many of our holiday cottages also welcome your four-legged friends.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Susan - Verified booking

This property has a superb location and was exactly as described.

The outside of the property gave no indication of the quality inside which was excellent. The farmer on site ( Tom) was easy to get along with and nothing was too much trouble. We had a few issues with the heating system (including the non working shower in one of the bedrooms ) which required a plumber to investigate and sort out for us which was satisfactorily resolved quickly. Some points of constructive comment follow. 1. There is no mirror in the twin bed room upstairs - this would have been nice especially as this room had no en-suite and the bathroom was on the other side of the landing. 2. Two of the ventilation fans in the en - suites ( downstairs bedroom and upstairs double room) were not working. 3. The range oven clearly had a thermostat problem as whatever temperature it was set at for the main oven, it was recording 40degrees below - we tested a range of temperatures from 100 degrees to 230 degrees and found this to be the case. Cooking chicken in this oven would have been a no no. 4. The statement on the booking site that electric vehicles cannot be charged on site needs to be altered. It should, in my opinion, read “the electricity charges for the house rental do not include those for EV charging. The costs for this will require to be paid in addition.” EV’s can be charged by mains cable obviously ( albeit slowly) overnight but perhaps with the ever increasing use of EVs, the house needs to be brought up to date. 5. An outside tap and hose would have been nice for car washing as the long main drive to the house is extremely dusty in dry weather and for owners who prefer to keep their cars clean, this would have been a welcome addition to the facilities. We did have an excellent stay in this house albeit with a few issues and if what I have mentioned above got looked at and sorted, I would have awarded 5 stars.

My family and I booked this property to celebrate a 30th birthday of a family friend, we live only 20 minutes away and needed to be nearby as we all have animals that need daily attention, so we had a “stacation”.

Easter Urray was everything we had hoped for and more, as a very keen cook the kitchen and the larder were very well equipped and once I got the hang of the gas hob we got on fine, the enormous utility room was great for the dog and all our outdoor things. The kitchen was ideal for cosy family suppers and for our more formal dinners the dining room was perfect. One of our guests summed it up perfectly “grand but cosy”. The house was so warm on arrival that we had to turn the underfloor heating down as the weather was mild, loved the wood burning stoves, we all live in the country but found it very peaceful and great for all ages. I loved it so much, that I really did not want to leave, I have hired many properties over the years and have to say that this was most definitely my favourite and we will be back, the owner was helpful and met us on arrival, we knew if we needed anything he was there but he respected our privacy which was appreciated. A ***** property.

What an absolutely fantastic cottage, location and owners.

As soon as we arrived, we felt welcomed, and got settled in straight away. The cottage has everything and more, even some complimentary biscuits for us. The owner (Kate) had left us with milk and some food provisions, that we weren't expecting, but kindly appreciated. The cottage is so cosy, lovely and extremely clean. At night you don't hear a sound and it's pitch black, perfect for a good night's sleep. The owners are only across the yard, so if you need anything, they are close by and they have horses that you can visit and feed to the side of the cottage. I checked with Kate, to see if we could give them food, and got them some carrots. While at the cottage we got to see rabbits every morning and evening, plus the horses and sheep nearby. We spotted the Red Kites too, while taking in the gorgeous views of the mountains towards Loch Ness. Beautiful sunsets, very atmospheric. None of us wanted to leave, and would definitely return. Thank you ❤️

The house is accessed via a long track, which is potholed.

The accommodation is very well set out and having three double bedrooms with good on suite bathrooms is excellent, but in my opinion two of the mattresses are in need of replacement. The sitting rooms are an ideal size, but furniture is uncomfortable and probably two years past the date when it should have been replaced. The house was not dirty, but not cleaned to a very high standard. There was a slice of toast under one of the settees and a dogs ball under one of the beds. We realised that dogs were allowed in the house, but disappointed with the number of dogs hairs on the settees. The kitchen is a great size and is well equipped, but the cooker could do with a deep clean. We could not find any instructions for any of the equipment. We had hoped that during our two week stay that there might have been an offer of clean towels and bedding at the end of the first week, but this did not happen.

This property did not fail to impress!

The Croft is beautifully furnished and the owners have paid attention to all details in terms of comfort and aesthetic qualities including a private deck area. A lovely touch of milk, tea/coffee and biscuits were left (much needed after a long journey!). In addition to this, the owners left a well stocked cupboard in the kitchen with extras such as stock cubes, mini cereal boxes, sauces etc. The view from the Croft is of the owners land and you can say hello to their 4 horses. Kate, Ali and their daughter were very friendly and approachable. The Croft is ideally positioned for touring the Black Isle and surrounding areas. We even travelled to John O'Groats. Inverness is within a 10 minute drive offering a good selection of shops and restaurants. Closer to the Croft is Muir of Ord which has a well stocked Co-operative and a decent chip shop that is open every evening from 4.30pm.
