"The holiday cottage is in a great location for both beaches and tourist attractions. Ideal for those wanting a quieter stay. The furnishings and fittings are tired and minimal. For a family of four the relaxing and cooking areas are cramped. Seating 4 adults comfortably around the dinner table was a squeeze and in the living area we were tripping over each others outstretched legs. We chose to self cater and found the cooking facilities difficult. The electric oven and hob were difficult to use if you were not familiar with using them and there were no instructions on how to use the cooker therefore a lot of carbon was added to our diet. The utensils were minimal and there were no oven gloves for removing items from the hot oven ! On the surface the cottage looked relatively clean at the beginning of our stay but we soon found out that under the chair cushions there was a plethora of biscuit/food crumbs as well as general dust. The beds were clean but the duvets had seen better days. one was quite grey and smelly. The mattress although looking fairly new were obviously a budget range and therefore the springs and support were not contusive to a good nights sleep. The carpets in the rooms were in need of a deep clean or replacement and the lino was in need of a good clean too. All in all I was disappointed by my stay at Cherry Cottage."

"We arrived and were pleased BUT parking turned out to be bad. This place is on a estate, and parking is a huge problem, vehicles park on the verges etc. Kids playing ball against nearby garage doors do not add to the peace. Also trains are noisy if you open a door or window. It could have been cleaner in the lounge - dust under t.v. unit and the mirror was very dusty. kitchen window was very smeared when sun on it. Not possible to see t.v. when sun is in the lounge as it is badly positioned. A net curtain would be o.k. but we had to pull the curtains to see t.v The grass in rear garden had not been cut and was above my ankles. The beds we found very hard and duvets far too hot, but I accept that as a matter of taste. Shower worked well but soaked the window sill and glass partition could be longer to keep the area dry. Lighting in kitchen near microwave is very bad. You have your back to the lights, an under cupboard light would work well there. The kitchen bin broke on first use and I felt it was not up to the job. A big shame because Battle and the area is really beautiful."

"This was a perfect holiday retreat, if you like peace and quiet, as you are away from everything. We took our 5 month old puppy, Lily, with us for her first holiday away. This was a perfect place for her, grass to run around on and the cottage itself was lovely inside and pet friendly. There was horse in one of the fields, that was so friendly and loved apples! The Owner offers breakfast for a small charge, so we booked this for our last day and this was great. We found some lovely pubs to eat in nearby where we could take our dog. The Sun Inn at Hulverstone (which even has dog treats) and The Steamer Inn and Waterside Restaurant along the seafront at Shanklin. Would recommend all 3. Colwell Bay worth a visit (and again cafe is dog friendly). Yarmouth, where you can sit near the bird reserve or overlook the harbour and Ryde Park, which is near the beach. Great holiday had by all and would certainly go back."

"This is a beautiful accommodation in a lovely rural setting. We were met by the Owner on arrival who was very welcoming and also provided us with some food items. S76984 provided everything you could possibly need both in equipment and entertainment e.g. books, games, dvds. The only downside to our stay was that the previous week it was clear that a dog had stayed in S76984. Oddly it didn't appear to have been hoovered following that stay as there were an unacceptable amount of dog hairs throughout. I knew the accommodation allowed pets but I wouldn't expect to be covered in dog hairs after sitting on the sofa or from walking around, which led to me spending 2 hours sweeping the sofa and floors. This has put me off staying anywhere which allows pets in the future which is such a shame as it was a lovely stay apart from that."

"An absolutely wonderful place to stay where the owners are exceptionally kind, friendly and a joy to know. Peter is a warm and thoughtful man with a genuine desire to make the holiday special for his visitors and Claire even baked biscuits and scones for us! The gardens are beautifully kept by Ben, another friendly family member, and has access to a private, pebbled little beach where we were able to light a small fire, much to the delight of the children. One of our members is disabled and enjoyed nothing more than sitting on the sun-trapped patio watching the red squirrels and wildlife in the enchanting grounds. This was our second visit and has now gained the status of ‘home from home’ where a warm welcome is guaranteed."
