Staying in South East

One of the biggest attractions in the south east is the wonderful New Forest. A last minute cottage holiday in the New Forest will offer some fantastic walks around one of the most beautiful areas in the country. Watch out for the wild ponies, and cows that populate the region. For children, Thorpe Park is a fantastic day out in the South East, and is easily reached by either car or train. The South East has some fantastic beaches, and Snaptrip has many properties close to the seaside. With stunning beach towns such as Hastings, Brighton and Whitstable, the South East can claim with some justification to be just as blessed with beaches as the more commonly visited South West. The landscape is filled with castles, cathedrals and of course the stunning White Cliffs of Dover, giving you plenty of options throughout the region for your late availability cottage break.

"Our luxury Eco house was as described and in perfect condition. The wildlife on our doorstep was amazing and so were the views. A small selection of lodge houses which meant humans traffic was minimal so relaxation was easy when at the accommodation. Plenty of safe, secure outside space to eat and socialise within the houses and a BBQ is supplied on the house's large balcony which over looks a steam and woodland. The peacocks regularly joined us for breakfast and the dives enjoyed a feed purchased from the cafe shop on site. We particularly enjoyed the on site museums which were quaint, interesting and full of antique pieces from days gone by. Use of facilities were also included which meant entry to museums (which can be wandered to through a short woodland walk). The miniature golf was still under construction and will make a lovely little addition to the facilities within the mill. I hope the site doesn't expand too much (not that I've read any plans to do this) as this would spoil the remote quintessential feel to the accommodation and surrounding grounds. Easy access to most of the island which made exploring on foot and by car easy and hassle free. A car would be recommended as the nearest shop is a 5 min car ride in Freshwater. "

"S41339 Eco lodge at Calbourne Water Mill was fantastic setting for a family with young children. The lodge itself was very well appointed and comfortable. The lodge was super warm, gaining its heat from a ground source pump, certainly warmer than our own home in the north of England. We were welcomed after the Mill had closed by a very cheerful and helpful work member, guiding us through house before we settled in for our 10 day stay. The location is stunning, overlooking a stream and woodland. The working Mill and grounds were at our disposal to wander around. The kids were fascinated by the doves that swooped down and landed on their arms and heads while being fed. The Mill has peacocks that come and knock on the door for breakfast or pop on to the lodge balcony. Wonderfully quiet and dark at night, no light pollution. We had a great time and would recommend to any family."

" ...with excellent views of the countryside and The Solent in the distance. The cottage is ideally situated for touring the Island and there are many attractions within a 15 minute drive. The cottage is well furnished with three bedrooms and two bathrooms and also has televisions in all rooms. There is also WiFi available (but we did have problems, and were unable to get on-line most of the time) The property has its own tarmac drive and ample parking and also a lovely sitting area in the garden. We had a lovely holiday and we would not hesitate to return there again and would certainly recommend it to other people. Submitted by Peter John on 31/08/2014 "

"We have just got back from the most wonderful long weekend away in the Isle of Wight. From start to finish the booking was so easy & everyone involved were so helpful. It was my daughters birthday when we arrived & nothing was too much trouble - including the housekeeper putting up the balloons & banners that I had arranged to be delivered to the house! Everything went so smoothly, the sun shone & the Watermill was just the most perfect place. The children could play outside safely, they adored the Peacocks & all the birds & we all enjoyed quality family one in a very relaxed environment. We will definitely be back! "

" ... Nice circa 6KM running circuit from the Apartment, via the beach promenade in front of the Royal Yacht Squadron, then up the hill at Gurnard (Woodvale Road), and back down into Cowes. Handy to have an M&S food store and small Sainsbury a few minutes walk away. Nice to have a Nespresso machine in the apartment and fully provisioned with all utensils, detergent, tissues - we could have stayed for a month! Enjoyed bfast at Eegon's cafe, and no corkage charge at Bahar Tandoor meant we could bring what we wanted to drink! Submitted by James H on 20/07/2017 "
