Staying in South East

One of the biggest attractions in the south east is the wonderful New Forest. A last minute cottage holiday in the New Forest will offer some fantastic walks around one of the most beautiful areas in the country. Watch out for the wild ponies, and cows that populate the region. For children, Thorpe Park is a fantastic day out in the South East, and is easily reached by either car or train. The South East has some fantastic beaches, and Snaptrip has many properties close to the seaside. With stunning beach towns such as Hastings, Brighton and Whitstable, the South East can claim with some justification to be just as blessed with beaches as the more commonly visited South West. The landscape is filled with castles, cathedrals and of course the stunning White Cliffs of Dover, giving you plenty of options throughout the region for your late availability cottage break.

"I would normally put the positives first, but as I feel we've been had right over, I'll do it the other way round.I booked the S13972 for a few days before my wife went into hospital. On the website it stated that there was 'building work going on next door'. As they are detached properties we did think it would be a problem. On our arrival we found that it was their property above which was having building work, not next door at all. I put this to Michael on our arrival, but he blamed it on the company I booked through. I had spoken to the owners by Text a couple of days earlier, but even though they knew the info was wrong, they failed to mention it to us.The place was (is) a Building site. Scaffolding erected all round, building materials everywhere and a skip sitting on one of the Parking spaces, meaning there wasn't even one whole parking space to use. It was (is) not a fit place to be open as a Holiday apartment. The main attraction of this place is the Hot Tub, which Michael showed us straight away. We were instructed to keep an eye on it as there was a problem with it, which meant that the pump motor kept stopping. We were asked to keep turning it on when it did so. As I'm sure you're aware, a Hot Tub without the water being circulated, means it's going to go stagnant. Which it had obviously started to do, because it smelt. My wife wouldn't get in it.If you are due to go and stay here, I advise you to take; Earplugs - The owner live above and I don't think they've got carpet. You can hear them clomping around on the floor above. When they are watching TV in the Living Room it's very loud in the en-suite Bedroom below. Oven dishes - The Oven is fine, but there's only one large cumbersome metal cooking tray. We went out and bought another one to use while we were there.A hard hat and old clothes. There are bits of scaffolding stucking out and building materials everywhere. On the positive side, it's clean and tidy and apart from oven dishes, fairly well equipped."

"We were warmly welcomed by the owner and given a guided tour including a full safety briefing for the fabulous hot tub. The accommodation was spotlessly clean with a fresh and modern feel to it. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bedrooms large and comfortable. The living room area included a large screen TV with Sky which also included Sky Sports. The garden area is very pretty with tubs of flowers and plants dotted all around the rattan garden furniture. We were lucky with the weather, so it is was nice to sit outside with a drink and listen to the birds singing in the woods that the garden backed onto. The facilities included a selection of books and DVD's which was a nice touch as was the little basket of goodies left for us in the kitchen (thank you!). We took a few provisions with us such as tea, coffee, hand soap, towels etc, but they were all provided. Also included was sole use of the hot tub. This was a fabulous luxury which we took full advantage of on both days we were there. It was also spotlessly clean and well maintained. All in all, this was the perfect location for our weekend in the Hastings area. This is the perfect place for a couples getaway, but easily accommodates up to four people. If you are thinking of booking, then don't hesitate as we will definitely be returning in the future."

"Very enjoyable stay at Habour lodge for the weekend. The lodge itself was very cosy & was pet friendly. My dog enjoyed the big garden and me & my partner took full advantage of the hot tub (Which was amazing) - it really helps ease the muscles in your back, so relazing. Unfortunantly at the time of our stay the weather was not good and rained everyday - which prevented us from going to the beach etc. But staying in wasnt bad as we had access to wifi, sky and the hot tub. When we did go out we found a resturant called 'Two bull steak house' the found was lovely and cooked to perfection. The only thing that I would mention is that the lodge is below the owners own home. And unfortunantly you can hear them updtairs walking around & even talking sometimes, which was a bit weird. I sometimes thought that people was ealking around in the other room but it was upstairs. But other than that we had a lovely time at the lodge and would return."

"The cottage was clean and well presented. However the location was remote and so was a drive to amenities and the new forest itself. Unfortunately we found the beds very hard and uncomfortable and as we both suffer from bad backs this affected us throughout the holiday. We did check the mattresses and they are from John lewis and do have mattress toppers. This cottage has a septic tank which means when you flush the toilets or use the water there is noise for about 5 minutes afterwards which is annoying at night time. You share the front of the property with the owners and as the property is on a road with no frontage we felt we had to have all the blinds shut all the time to get some privacy. The television is small but as we were not at the cottage much it didn't cause us a problem. The owner was very pleasant and the cottage has everything you need and everything is in excellent condition."

"S14135 is situated in a beautiful quiet viĺlage with thatched cottages and a community shop. The cottage is furnished to an extremely high standard with everything you could need. The beds are comfortable and the showers are powerful. Although S14135 has a garden it is situated behind the stables therefore younger children would need constant supervision, my daughters 8 and 10 loved that they could go out and play when we returned from our days out. The surrounding area is beautiful and a trip to the Isle of Wight is a must. The only downside we found on the day we arrived was a fly that was in the cottage, not a big deal except it was a horse fly which bit my wrist which then produced an itchy lump for days and would be quite nasty for a child to experience. We bought fly spray and had no problems after that.We would definitely recommend S14135."
