Staying in South East

One of the biggest attractions in the south east is the wonderful New Forest. A last minute cottage holiday in the New Forest will offer some fantastic walks around one of the most beautiful areas in the country. Watch out for the wild ponies, and cows that populate the region. For children, Thorpe Park is a fantastic day out in the South East, and is easily reached by either car or train. The South East has some fantastic beaches, and Snaptrip has many properties close to the seaside. With stunning beach towns such as Hastings, Brighton and Whitstable, the South East can claim with some justification to be just as blessed with beaches as the more commonly visited South West. The landscape is filled with castles, cathedrals and of course the stunning White Cliffs of Dover, giving you plenty of options throughout the region for your late availability cottage break.

"S14380 is a lovely building! Sadly certain aspects of the interior have been neglected for quite a little while. Some of the problems we experienced - the lights in the drive not working; the roller blind in the 1st floor bathroom falling off its roller - are things that were noted in the visitor book some months ago. On the whole we had a very nice stay but mainly because we were all together as a family for Christmas. The owners should take note of the constructive comments in the visitor book and fix the place up a little and get the heating sorted out (as mentioned in the visitor book by another guest - the timer seems to have a mind of its own!). We did try to contact the caretaker about the heating but never got a call back. When we arrived there was only one toilet roll for 8 guests! One of the handles on a saucepan was falling off and if it hadn't been spotted there could have been a serious scalding incident. The bedside lights in the Master Bedroom didn't work! On the whole for the amount of money they are charging - nearly £1,700 for four day's stay over Christmas- I feel that having already been informed several times in the visitor book that guests are disappointed with aspects that could be easily addressed, the owners are to a certain extent taking the proverbial!"

"Shabby without the chic. Sad to see a beautiful house being neglected. Parties with children or dogs note the garden is not secure. On arrival we discovered the wooden gates to the drive were completely rotten, one had actually rotted off its hinges. The caretaker advised us to lift them into position and time them together to close. Her carpenter inspected and advised they were rotten and needed replacement. The boundary walls of the garden are so low in places a dog or child could easily climb over into the busy road or precipitous cliff side. Many of the rooms have evidence of water incursion and during a rainstorm water leaked into the back bedroom. The upstairs bathroom was barely usable, the toilet only flushed intermittently, the mechanism to remove the bath plug was broken and it took us all day to empty the bath, the blind at the very large window over looking a busy road was flimsy - showering was only for the extrovert. There were a number of small annoyances I won't bore you with but considering we paid a premium rate which was a large amount of money for a weeks stay we were not impressed and would not recommend it."

"This is a lovely house and it was ideal for three couples plus three small children. The location is fabulous for views but to walk anywhere you are going up/down long steep hills. Road access is also in the middle of three way traffic lights and there is no way of knowing which direction is green! Somewhat tricky. We had perfect weather for the whole week and so spent much time in the garden. Although it is a beautiful house it is in need of much TLC- None of the outside lights worked- The central heating was erratic- The sash window in the bathroom was broken and left open (I managed to force it shut)- The roller blind in the bathroom was brokenI spoke to the caretaker about all these things. She was very nice and actually dropped round but did nothing herself. She said she would get the handyman to drop by but they never materialised. As a holiday let for a large group the house works well but it falls frustratingly short for what we thought was a top quality property."

"The house was beautiful and the views were fantastic. We would definitely stay there again subject to the blinds and shower curtain being repaired in the first floor bathroom. Due to the lack of privacy (especially at night) 9 of us had to use the bathroom downstairs. We noted previous guests had made similar complaints back in December 2015.Even though the house seemed to have a no smoking policy, the house did have a strong smell of smoke. We purchased air freshener to deal with the smell. S14380 was warm and had a cosy fire place in the living room but this room did not have adequate sitting for 9 people. The two top floor rooms were cold (the radiators need bleeding). There were 3 TVs in three of the bedrooms, only one worked.Overall house was clean but windows could do with a wash and spiders in one of the chest of draws need to be removed.Thank you for the daffodils, they were lovely."

"This is an amazing holiday home and a truly unique experience. Our party consisted of 3 families (6 adults and 4 children) and we all adored S16868 and would thoroughly recommend a stay here.As well as having the novelty of staying in a windmill, you will find it is also furnished and decorated throughout to a high standard with lots of home comforts and a lovely garden to finish.Wendover is a very nice little town with lots of nice pubs and restaurants in lovely old buildings and all in walking distance. One night we came back and we all played sardines, which in the dark over 5 storeys was hilarious. The adults enjoyed it as much as the kids! Finally, Liz, the owner, was very helpful and friendly."
