Ditsys Den in Tonbridge, Kent, is a well-received cottage with a friendly host, offering a comfortable stay and a secure garden, ideal for dogs. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, the comfortable bed, and the thoughtful touches like fresh eggs. While some minor issues with facilities and maintenance are noted, the location is praised for its proximity to local attractions and the overall experience is positive.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage is generally described as clean and well-maintained, with only a couple of isolated comments about a dirty roasting tin and old coffee pods. The majority of guests did not raise cleanliness as an issue, indicating satisfaction with the standards of hygiene.

The location is frequently praised for its beauty and convenience as a starting point for visiting local gardens, houses, and castles. The secluded garden and the surrounding area are also appreciated, contributing to a positive experience.

Comfort is highlighted with mentions of a very comfortable bed and a restful stay. However, some guests noted the bed being small for tall people and the seating being uncomfortable after a while, which slightly lowers the score.

The cottage is well-equipped, but some guests mentioned missing items like a teapot and dish drainer, and a lack of instruction manuals. Concerns over safety in case of fire due to the narrow passageway and protruding pipes were also noted.

Guests were delighted with the thoughtful extras such as fresh eggs, indicating a welcoming and considerate host. However, as these gifts are personal gestures and may not be consistently provided, they should not be expected with every stay.

Negatives: The picture of the garden, that is used as the primary selling point, is misleading. The last autumn's leaf fall had not been raked up, the furniture was old, tatty and falling apart. The garden has had about three years of usage since established (according to the guest book entries), and it looked like no-one was bothering to maintain it. It was a big disappointment, as we had expected to see something more well-maintained like the picture. No guestbook, and occupant information like an updated wi-fi password or local area information was clearly displayed/provided. We used a clearly displayed sign for the Wi-fi password which was out of date, battled with it for half an hour, and eventually had to go and knock on the door of the main house to ask for the information. Eventually, we found informational items tucked in behind the TV, a day later. We felt that it was a bit of an oversight to not make the location of these much clearer or to update their sign. We felt that the owners of the accommodation could have attended better to the small things, and the garden was a big disappointment.

It has a memory foam mattress which doesn't suit everyone and indeed one does tend to slide off the edge if one is not careful! Otherwise the place is great. Very cosy and warm, which suited us well as the weather was not the greatest the week we were there.

All I would like to say yes I do think the mattress on the bed should be changed as I don’t believe it’s now overused so changing it would be brilliant, but I do say you get an excellent welcome other than the bed I have no other complaints
