What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr R Tregidgo - Verified booking

Born and bred in Falmouth, I have visited Cornwall many times over the years and stayed in a lot of cottages and I must say Woodbine Cottage is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

Spacious with room for 8 people, the cottage has a nice balance of comfort and practicality. The lounge/diner was cosy with plenty of seating for our party and the kitchen was very well equipped. The 4 good sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 3 WCs, were key in our decision to book the cottage. It was good to be able to enter the cottage via the large utility room and to be able to remove dirty outdoor clothing and use the handy downstairs bathroom before entering the living areas. There was plenty of off-road parking for our 2 cars and a lovely secluded patio area with seating and a fire pit. On our arrival, the cottage was a little cool, but the underfloor heating and panel heaters soon had it lovely and warm. Regrettably, it was not cold enough to warrant firing up the woodburning stove. Must come back in the winter and try it out. The cottage is set in the beautiful village of Mylor Bridge which has everything you could want. There is a lovely pub in the village serving Cornish ales and an extensive menu. The village has two shops including a post office, a butchers and a fresh fish shop. There is a large well equipped play park for children of all ages. The scenic walk from Mylor Bridge around the headland to Restronguet Creek and the Pandora Inn with its floating jetty, is not to be missed. Close by, the town of Falmouth offers a bustling town centre with plenty of restaurants and shops. Falmouth has several good beaches. Pleasure boat cruises on the Fal and Helford rivers are a great way to take in the coastline. Within a short drive, you can access the world class visitor attractions of The Eden Project, St Michaels Mount and The Lost gardens of Heligan. Despite the inclement weather, we managed to fit in a visit to the Eden Project, a Fal river cruise, a walk to the Pandora Inn and several trips to the beach. We had a great holiday and look forward to staying in Woodbine Cottage again in the near future.

We arrived after a 6 hour drive parked the car and then looked for the keysafe, which we couldn't find.

Rang Sykes as we were very tired and needed the loo. Sykes duly contacted you and said you would be in touch shortly. You weren't! We were pretty upset by this time as no-one from your company had bothered to ring us so rang Sykes again who contacted you a second time to get this situation sorted out. A neighbour who had also just arrived, heard what I was saying to Sykes and after a while we realised that the car parking was at the back of our our property - Flotsam - no. 87 and not at the front. All the other houses in our terrace had key safes near the back entrances except for ours and no. 86. This meant that we had to walk down the hill to the end of the row, go accross the side of the last house and then walk back up the path to get to the front of the house where there was not one but TWO keysafes. Finally, after a lot of unwanted hassle, we could get in. We were considerably upset by this experience as it would have been so easy to get in through the back entrance had there been a key safe there to enable this. We are both disabled and in our 80's. Luckily it wasn't raining or one of us would have been soaked by the time we got around to the front door. Not having one of those key safes near the back door is definately not user friendly and there is no mention of having to do the hike around the houses to get to the front. After a long and tiring jpurney this is not acceptable.. There is also no dishwasher in the property even though dishwasher tablets are being left for its use and there is no dryer either. What a fiasco that we could definately have done without!!

The owner or overseer of the property was very helpful and friendly.

She messaged us on the day we travelled over and let us know to contact her should we have any problems. As there was no mobile reception at the holiday site, and could not locate the email with the key-safe details, and it was dark, we certainly had to communicate with her and was very helpful. The property was very similar to other Pendra Loweth holiday homes we have stayed at. This one was much better than the last one as it had downstairs toilet and washing machine. The home was very clean and tidy and we liked the wood flooring. The furniture looked nice, however we found it to be very hard to sit on, and not very comfortable. The bedrooms were nice and clean, but again the beds not very comfortable. The beds could have done with memory foam mattress topper to make them softer to lie on. The shower was very nice and powerful, very important - but having shower curtain would help prevent water from spraying over the walls. The internet was good, again very important thing to have. The TV was not that good for us as we are used to using Smart TV at home. Having Smart TV today for Netflix and Amazon is probably important thing to have in holiday cottage. The kitchen was quite small but had everything we needed to cook and clean. The main plus for us is having car charging point on site, which we relied on while there. Overall we would recommend this home.

    • Kate - Verified booking

The overall first impression of the cottage was lovely.

Clean, tidy, fresh and inviting. It's only on closer inspection and throughout the duration of our stay little things became somewhat bug bearing. The downstairs bedroom smells very damp. We opened the window and kept the door closed as we weren't actually using to other than to store our cases. The upstairs bathroom needs attention, the bath seal is awful, brown and stained and the sink has a big cracked in it too. The TV in the main bedroom is there but doesn't work and if you didnt know how to survive without any WiFi or mobile phone signal, you're about to find out as there are absolutely no mobile or fixed routers or hotpots to host Internet of any kind (including mobile data / 4G). So whilst we did have a lovely time and the cottage is lovely too, there are a couple of easy fixes to make it a 5 star stay. On a plus though... the cottage is fully equipped with utensils, towels, linen and cleaning goods. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didn't dwell too much on the negative bits.

Lovely cottage, absolutely spotlessly clean on arrival.

Thoughtful touches of a goody bag of treats for us and treats for our Westie. Everything you could need for a self catering holiday but there are a few things which could be improved upon. Not enough hanging space for clothes and the size of the drawers in the chest of drawers in the bedrooms were not of a good size for storing clothes in. Only good enough for socks, underwear etc. Internal doors need oiling as very squeaky. Nowhere in bathroom to place items. Didn’t really want to place them on the toilet and surrounding area. Not very hygienic. Just a couple of extra shelves would be great. Wash basin was way too small as you could not fill it with a lot of water as it spilt over the side and onto the floor. Boiler system noisy. Would recommend family and friends to stay here without any doubt. Treesoth Cottages is a great location very quiet and peaceful and ideally located for visiting other areas in Cornwall.
