"We have stayed at High Knott several times pre conservatory and after. This is why we wouldn't return.Old and really uncomfortable sofas.Needs blind in main bedroom for privacy from neighbouring houses.Kitchen needs much more lighting. Both radios/cd are really old and need replacing. No WiFi in 2016???No manual for cooker hob.Patio surrounded by weeds and discarded items.Leak in roof of conservatoryLack of glasses i.e. tumblers that are not chipped.Only one frying pan. Cupboards full of stuff visitors wouldn't use.Tumble dryer in filthy garage full of junk.Television almost impossible to watch as colour is predominantly green, picture quality poor.Conservatory guttering broken and leaking.Bed linen needs replacing.Bungalow needs a deep, deep clean. It would appear that pet sprays are not used in the cleaning although an extra premium is paid for a dog.We vacated 3 days early as we could not put up with the condition of High Knott any longer."

"We had a splendid time in Nokka Cottage in April 2019. We were an extended family of seven people with ages ranging from 8 to 70. The beds were comfortable, the house was warm, the showers excellent and all the equipment worked. The kitchen is not comfortable and the kitchen table, though adequate for more than our number, was hard to get round so there was a lot of shuffling around to let people in and out. The low beams claimed victims. The location is excellent, however, and the local pub and restaurant are literally just over the road. The scenery of course is unsurpassed. The house is well supplied with books and the living rooms are comfortable. There is a small shop with very limited groceries not far away but you need to do a big shop before you arrive bringing all staples as well as food with you. All in all it is a very good place to stay in Borrowdale."

" The kitchen was really well equipped and has a gas cooker which is often a rarity in rented cottages . The owner Nick was very welcoming and helpful. Stonethwaite is a delightful place. It is a bit isolated but being next to the Langstrath inn and opposite a little cafe more than compensated. Keswick was only 7 miles away for the one rainy day we did have. Borrowdale is one of the highlights of the Lakes and this village is set in the heart of it . Our main target was Great Gable which is very accessible from where we were staying but we also did the short drive to Buttermere to do Haystacks. The local walks of Great Crag and Castle Crag are also both really enjoyable and a contrast to the higher peaks. We enjoyed our stay very much. "

"We booked the farm cottage for a family weekend away with elderly parents and our little girl, age 7. This cottage was perfect for us - plenty of space & toilets and in a fantastic location. Had easy walks from the door and a pub just around the corner. The charm of the cottage itself was a bonus - tastefully decorated with 3 foot stone walls making it quiet and peaceful, with deep window recesses and window seats to look out over the garden, the pretty village of Stonethwaite and the hills. The kitchen, dining room and lounge with open fire were great too. We were made very welcome by the farmer, his dogs and chickens and really enjoyed our weekend."

"Very nice property, plenty of space, especially in the top floor bedroom and en-suite.Bear in mind that its (fabulous) location means that local amenities (apart from nearby hotels and cafe) are some distance away but there is an excellent bus service. Two issues with cleanliness. (1) main bedroom carpet was covered in (mainly human) hair (of different colours - suggesting not just immediately prior occupants). The cylinder vacuum cleaner in the property was not up to the task of removing them (our first task on arrival). (2) the verandah / boot room had a substantial amount of cobwebs in the corners suggesting that it is overlooked when cleaning."
