What our customers say about their holidays

    • Joe - Verified booking

We both really enjoyed our stay at 1 Easton Barn.

We were pleasantly surprised at how well equipped the property was and it immediately felt like home. The property is very well situated. Its a short drive from various beaches like Challaborough Bay, Wonwell Beach, Bantham, Burgh Island etc. Up the road is St Annes Chapel which stocks your essential and last minute items and Kingsbridge is not too far should you need to visit a larger supermarket. There was a review somewhere which commented on the noise from the pool table below and it was audible from the room, however it didn't cause us any issues. The garden area is well kept with a small summer house, inside which is a BBQ and spare charcoal we could use if needed. Bathroom facilities were good enough. I've used far worse showers! Bedroom has ample storage and plug sockets. Living room was comfortable with plenty of board games for rainy evenings and the house in general was warm. Kitchen was better equipped than my one at home. No shortage of plates, bowls, saucepans, cutlery, utensils etc. In the spirit of a fair review, There were some areas of the house that could have used a wipe, so we just did it ourselves. Overall, I didn't expect this property to be as clean as it was given the age and type of building it is so I don't feel rating its cleanliness any lower than full marks would be justified. Lastly, we would like to thank the hosts for having us. The check in process was super easy, the property was good value for money and we genuinely look forward to staying again. Thankyou, Joe, Leigh & Benny (the dog)

Apparently, following some redecoration, the property had been left without heat for some days and was very cold and still with out any heating on when we arrived.

In our view, the electric wall mounted heaters would never be adequate in early spring, winter and late autumn mainly because of the high pitched ceilings in the living room and bedroom[i.e. heat rises].The wood burning stove is nice idea and very fashionable but, in practise, was difficult to light and 'ate' wood with out adding much to the warmth of the main living and sleeping areas. If the current system is going to be retained we suggest in the cold season a good electric fan heater is provided in lieu of the log burner. We,in fact, left a day early to avoid another evening and night at Beech cottage. The enormous TV was also much too big for a small living room.

We stayed at Beech Cottage for a 5 day break around New Year.

Very nice location in quiet lane overlooking lovely countryside. The log burner was most welcome . We took our dog Bueno with us , who enjoyed some great walks. We also took our bikes & dog trailer which Debbie, owner kindly let us store in her garage. You do need to take a torch with you, as the one in the cottage isn't great. There wasn't a comments book in the cottage, so could you please pass on our thanks for the prosecco Debbie left for us. A really enjoyable stay lucky too with the weather only rain once. Note to Sykes Holidays. Your paperwork stated contact for keys Lucy Watkins, this is incorrect. Its Debbie Potter although tel number is as you say

We had a lovely little holiday in Bluebell cottage. Great location in Seaton, just a few minutes walk to the shops, pubs and seafront with the added bonus of the car park just behind. Had a bit of confusion with the parking permit but that was soon sorted out for us. Great base to travel to nearby places like Beer, Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Bridport to name just a few. The cottage is lovely and cosy, comfy sofas and beds however the stairs really are steep and would be a challenge to young children and people with mobility issues. The garden was a nice plus too, shame the lack of sun didn’t allow us to sit out in it but we still really enjoyed our stay

I really enjoyed my stay in Little Claremont.

It was a granny annex so is very well appointed for all kitchenware and storage space in the bedroom. The owners Martin and Lynn were friendly and helpful with their own 2 dogs so they were so considerate about my dog Hettie. Great location in village on Dartmoor with plenty of National Trust places to visit and gorgeous walks. A particular favourite of mine just 5 mins drive away was Burrator Reservoir. Park in Quarry and go up over the top away from the road, Sublime views over moors and reservoir. Also a must for dogs is Lydford and Teign Gorges the latter near Castle Drogo which is also worth a visit.
