"The cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable with a great location. The local pub does amazing food and the local shop is well equipped.we enjoyed our stay in this large cottage. It is furnished with comfortable lounge and dining room furniture and all of the beds and bedding were clean and comfortable Graham ,the owner, lives on site and is very helpful when needed. Previous reports do not reflect our experience and you do wonder why people make such comments. We have just come back from a 6 days stay at brook-field cottage .The cottage is wonderful and we would definitely come back again next year. I am shocked to read people who write bad reviews about the cottage.we chose to ignore the bad reviews and God we did the best thing. We could not fault the cottage. It is in a very quiet and lovely location and the owner Graham is such a lovely person always there when you need to know best places ,Restaurants to go.He does not bother you a all.Thank you Graham.See you next year same time. DerbyAfter reading the previous review after we had already booked, we were somewhat worried about what to expect. However, we needn't have worried. On arrival we were greeted by the owner and he had generously supplied us with fresh flowers, scones, jam, cream and milk. After that he respectfully kept away unless he was needed. We didn't ever hear him in his 'annex' next door. The house is vey spacious and ample room for 7 adults and 3 children. Although the decor is pretty outdated the house itself was comfortable, very warm through a very cold spell and well equipt for our needs. Yes it might have benefited from a more thorough cleaner, and there were a couple of spiders in the bathroom, but we had a wonderful stay and enjoyed it as a great base for a terrific family holiday. We came as a group in June, we were three couples, a baby and a dog. The property has a large kitchen, with everything you could need, dining room, large sitting room, one double bed (quite compact) downstairs next to a small shower room/toilet. Upstairs was a large bathroom, two nice sized double rooms overlooking the fields/paddock at the back of the house and two twin rooms. You can push the beds together to make doubles. The garden at the back is spacious and if you are lucky you will see the pheasants that visit and the ponies which are friendly. It is enclosed, however a small dog/inquisitive child can get out as there were holes in the fence. We blocked these up after our dog found them and went to visit the ponies. There is not much to do in the village but it is close enough to all the great places Cornwall has to offer that it makes a great base but you need a car. We went to Newquay, Eden project and St Ives nothing was more than an hour or so away. The owner lives next door and is really friendly. He helps to make your stay. There is a wonderful pub in the village which is friendly and does great food.only a five minute walk. My only complaint as such was the spiders. I expected some of course but there were five or six in every room and cobwebs all over the window sills in the kitchen. Other than that it was amazing.Excellent place for families. Enough space to be together and to have time apart. And the house is well located to visit the many attractions in that area. We managed without a car but as it was Christmas this wasn't a real problem. Otherwise, although there is a hourly bus service, a car is pretty essential. It's about 6 miles to the beach."
