"Overpriced, needs overall, few things broken or not working, we reported to reception and some things sorted but bathroom light didn’t get resolved, stained carpet, tatty kitchen cupboards/draws, leaking kettle which was replaced with a tatty travel version and took an age to boil, front door had issues too!Out doors had court yard, desperately needed weeding, washing hanger outside but no pegs, ironing board unstable, ironing board cover past its best so slipped off, only 3 dining chairs (supposed to be 4), pottery set had silly sized small bowls, blinds didn’t fit, frayed and you couldn’t reach the pulley without standing on a chair, no instruction for appliances accept cooker, double glazing blown, no welcome book for the cottage. On a positive note, bedding clean/crisp, welcome pack with basic groceries was a nice touch. The touch left for guests didn’t work but a replacement was provided by the gentleman on reception which we appreciated as we had dogs with us.However very disappointing, on the wall there was an old 13/14 Visit England tourist board certificate, we feel it’s a long time since the Farrier Cottage has been 4*"

"The above may be unfair as I write as an 83 1/2 year old. The owners Tracy & Geoff Tyrell are excellent, most welcoming and friendly, and offering home-baked bread, scones with fresh milk, cream and jam etc etc. The kitchen facilities also are good. They supplied us almost daily with logs for the wood-burning stove, which was a huge bonus. My personal difficulties lay in the weak lighting; I need stronger light to read by. Also I prefer places where I can walk the dogs without leads. Because of the free-range chickens and sheep in the field. leads are essential, and coping with the dogs and unlocking gates etc, I found difficult.Younger people would not experience these problems, and I would recommend this venue unreservedly to them."

"We booked really last minute and had an absolutely delightful time. The apartment was well maintained and perfect for our family of four. We had three beaches within walking distance (even our 3 year old managed this easily!) all very quite and secluded. The apartment complex has private access to the Duporth beach and this is a real bonus!. The beach itself is perfect, although mostly a shingle beach, sadly though some irresponsible dog owners had let their dogs poo on the beach/not cleaned up after them which was a real shame. Nearby Charlestown was quaint and we had lovely relaxed lunch at Charley boat house. We would love to visit again! Thank you Sykes cottages.."

"I cannot fault Gingers cottage! It was the first cottage we have stayed in that I can honestly say was perfect. The location is lovely, right next to lots of footpaths and it was lovely to have a field of lambs next to us. The cottage is a short drive away from Bude and the canal. (Recommend the weir cafe, great park for children, and a scoot alongside the canal!) The cottage was spotlessly clean and well presented with fresh flowers. The cream teas and sparkling wine were lovely to find on arrival plus treats for the children. The cottage is well geared up for children of all ages, the play room had toys for all my children who are 8, 3 and 6months. We can’t wait to go back."
