Discover Hull holiday cottages for your next break

Designated the UK's City of Culture in 2017, Hull, or more formally, Kingston-Upon-Hull, is a port city with a rich history.

Located on the River Hull at its confluence with the Humber Estuary, Hull has all the amenities you'd expect from a major British city along with fascinating heritage. The town of Wyke on Hull was founded in the 12th century and it's thrived as a community hub since.

The Old Quarter has stunning Edwardian and Georgian architecture and an abundance of free museums, and the city also boasts contemporary attractions, a lively music scene, and so much more.

At Snaptrip we're proud to offer a variety of gorgeous Hull holiday cottages for brilliant and unforgettable breaks away. We have something for everyone whether you want a cosy period cottage or a modern barn conversion for a large group.

Why choose a Hull weekend break or staycation?

Nestled on the shores of the Humber River, Hull is packed with fascinating museums, cosy pubs, and beautiful buildings, and is surrounded by natural beauty.

The city of Hull in Yorkshire has reinvented itself from a port town into a culture hotspot. The city is awash with history. It's the birthplace of slavery abolitionist William Wilberforce, rock legend Mick Ronson, and pioneering aviator Amy Johnson. It is also the city that sparked the English Civil War.

To get a taste of historic Hull, make your way to Hull Old Town. This old quarter has historic landmarks, cobbled streets, and much to explore. Pop into the gothic Hull Minster and wander around the majestic church. You'll spot imposing arches, hand-crafted ornaments and stunning stained-glass windows. Make sure you visit the Hands of History Museum to discover more about Hull and England in the Victorian era.

Another lovely area to mooch around is Humber Street, a pretty lane lined with quirky eateries, galleries, and boutiques. It's a great place to end your days, with plenty of restaurants, pubs, and even a distillery.

Culture vultures will be in heaven when visiting Hull's excellent Museum Quarter. The area consists of four museums, Arctic Corsair, which is based in a former trawler, Streetlife Museum where you can discover the history of Hull's streets, the Wilberforce House, which charts the history of slavery, and Hull and East Riding Museum of Archaeology, where you can meet a woolly mammoth.

For more museum fun, venture away from the Museum Quarter and visit the brilliant Maritime Museum and Ferens Art Gallery.

If you're not afraid of heights, why not walk or bike on Humber Bridge, the UK's longest suspension bridge? This iconic structure is 2,200 metres long and offers incredible views of the city and beyond.

If you need a little relaxation and tranquillity, head to The Queens Gardens. This oasis in the heart of Hull used to be the largest boating dock in the UK before it was transformed into lush gardens. It's a lovely place to enjoy a picnic or just a rest from your busy day sightseeing, and there are often concerts and events held in the gardens.

No trip to Hull is complete without a trip to The Deep. This amazing aquarium is based in a futuristic building on the river's shores and is home to over 5,000 various sea creatures and 50 habitats.

With so much to see and do in Hull, why not book one of our Hull holiday cottages and experience the sights of the city at your own pace?

We just got back from a fantastic stay at The Stables holiday cottage in North Yorkshire and couldn't wait to share our experience!

There were four of us, plus our dog, and the cottage was perfect for all of us. From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the cozy atmosphere. The open-plan living area on the ground floor was such a welcoming space, with a lovely view of the garden. We spent our evenings by the large wood-burning stove, which made everything feel incredibly snug. Upstairs, the mezzanine lounge was a hit. It was a great spot to hang out with another TV, some games, and a comfy sofa bed. The view from up there over the living area below was pretty cool, too. Sleeping arrangements were super comfortable. The main bedroom had a big double bed, and the twin bedroom had large windows that let in lots of light, making everything feel bright and airy. The garden was another highlight. With two patios and a BBQ, we managed a lovely evening and afternoon with a few vino's and nibbles outside. Our dog loved running around the lawn, and it was a great place to unwind. The village of Roos was charming, with a couple of nice pubs to explore. And just a short drive away, Withernsea offered a great selection of shops and a delightful coastline. All in all, The Stables was a delightful place to stay. It had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy getaway with family, friends, and pets!

Where do I begin Sack the cleaner ….

. Cobwebs everywhere. Kitchen area and pots and pans filthy ( flies or spiders could have been all over the pots as they aren’t in a cupboard, no cups only mugs, sink waste trap was vile, cooker was disgusting, the grease made our eyes sting when it was hot. Everything was sticky and greasy. The washing up bowl was disgusting, the sink area was filthy and the rubber tap hoses were black inside, plumbing was noisy when hot water was running. The tv was tiny, dvd’s but no player downstairs, log burner was filthy (couldn’t even see the fl ames due to the doors being sooty) Curtains were filthy Microwave was rusty, washing machine was dirty and utility room smelled of must. Bathroom was filthy (check the shower screen where it opens it is disgusting) Floor Tiles missing under stairs Bedroom furniture dirty and hairs in drawers. (didn’t even unpack our case) When we opened the velux window loads of bits dropped on the bed. ‘Blinds’ pinned up with cork board pins. Woken up every morning to dogs barking. Garden not secure (the gate needs wire mesh to the top) the garden was unsuitable for dogs if you like them to be clean. Our dog had to have her feet washed all the time she was here due to the mud everywhere. A totally unpleasant stay from the minute we arrived. Left early as we had had enough!!!

We were very impressed the moment we walked into Mulberry Manor.

The spaciousness of the property hit us first then we noticed the lovely welcome tray of goodies which included a bottle of prosecco, some chocolates, half a dozen free range eggs and a loaf of home-baked bread,as well as a lovely hand crafted card welcoming us. We had travelled with our two daughters and our 4 year old grandson for whom a camp bed was provided. Our daughters and grandson occupied the upstairs quarters and we had the en-suite double on the ground floor. Our grandson was very impressed that there were 3 toilets. We were delighted to learn that we were the first guests in the cottage. We found the accommodation very comfortable and it was an ideal property for us. As with many new things there were a few first time niggles but these were sorted for us very promptly. The plusses for us were the spaciousness & comfort of the property. the tranquil location with sea (and wind turbine) views and the in-house amenities of washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, TV etc. We loved every minute and would certainly recommend it as an ideal family accommodation.

Eggleston is a lovely spacious house great for family get togethers.

We had a lovely week staying at the house and the kitchen was well equipped which as a nice change to other houses that don't seem to expect you to cook. Some of the furniture is becoming tired (e.g. broken arm on the 2 seater settee) but the house was well equipped with books and games although we had taken our own. The link with Great Newsome Brewery was good and the cases of beer we ordered on click and collect were delivered ready for the start of our stay. The biggest downside to the house was the appalling wifi which frustrated everyone and the mobile signal was also poor. There was an abundance of flies and we had to buy a fishing net to fish them out of the hot tub but I think that was due to us being on a farm and haymaking going on in neighbouring fields. The hot tub was a beautiful location to enjoy the sunsets and we were sorry that the outdoor dining wasn't in this section of the gardens. The dining room was particularly spacious making it good for large groups. We very much enjoyed our stay.

The rooms were nice and spacious and the added bonus if a separate downstairs loo was great.

However, the items in the kitchen weren’t particularly clean and it was clear that the floor hadn’t been mopped prior to arrival by the colour of our socks. When trying to cook some breakfast, we really struggled! The job needed to be unlocked but we have never used one like this and so ended up googling the instructions. It would have been much simpler to include an instruction leaflet. It kept then showing a symbol and not working - we still don’t know what this meant as there was no instruction manual. This left the rest of our breakfast cold and was disappointing. There was also only a sweeping brush, and a carpet sweeper to clean and so couldn’t do a very good job. A bit indulgent but it would have been nice to have a small welcome basket - even just some milk left. Overall the cottage was nice and the outlook too - we had a lucky treat seeing some newborn lambs in the field. It was easy to find and well located.
