About this property

As cool and contemporary as Newlyn itself, this wonderful four-bedroom home which perches high above the town and harbour is a delight to the senses, and boasts spectacular sea views, a gorgeous interior and fantastic outside space.

With an enviably keen eye for design, the owners of Marine Lodge have created a retreat that not only fits in beautifully with the surrounding natural landscape, but being just two minutes’ walk from the town, is also perfectly positioned as an idyllic coastal holiday home with some of Cornwall’s best towns, beaches and landmarks (like St Micheal’s Mount) within easy reach. Styled with mid-Century furnishings, local paintings and natural textures, the real drama is showcased via sweeping views over Mounts Bay which can be enjoyed from both outside the house and in. Set over three floors, this home isn’t just beautiful to look at but is equally well-equipped and even includes a self-contained annexe with its own balcony and entrance, so guests can expect to be completely comfortable during their stay.

Sumptuous seating adorns the open plan living room and superior mattresses grace all four bedrooms, so if relaxation is high up on the holiday’s agenda, Marine Lodge more than fulfils the brief. Fully kitted-out and generously sized, the fabulous kitchen is where family feasts can be rustled up with ease and an eight-seater dining table along with a furnished outdoor terrace are the perfect spots for shared dinners, whether gathered inside for a lavish meal, or unwinding in the sunshine while lunch sizzles away on the barbecue.

Tucked into the hillside, the garden enjoys spectacular sweeping views over the bay, and surrounded by a variety of trees and plants, has a wonderfully secluded, nature-infused ambience. Though unusual in its design, the garden which includes a tiered layout, makes the most of its landscape. Several tiers form a series of small, flat areas including a kitchen-level paved terrace with outdoor dining suite, barbecue and firepit, and a lower-level sun-drenched nook with loungers.

Recently touted as one of Cornwall’s trendiest up and coming coastal towns, Newlyn’s food and shopping scene though small, doesn’t disappoint. Restaurants like Mackerel and Sky Seafood Bar (though seasonal) and Tolcarne Inn are well worth popping into for delicious dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and if you love shopping indie, there are places like Newlyn Cheese & Charcuterie, The Strand vintage store and the Helen Feiler gallery for paintings and jewellery. Nearby lie the towns of Penzance with its fabulous lido, Mousehole and Marazion, all within easy reach by car. Or, for a really wholesome way to experience the coastline you can do so on foot along the coast path which in total is about 4.5 miles but which can be broken up with short stints on the bus which operates a regular service in the area.
