What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Tim Ketton-Locke - Verified booking

The house is lovely with great décor. The themes blend in well and the kitchen is well equipped. The house is very clean and still has that new build feel. We stayed here, 2 children and 3 adults and loads of space. The soundproofing with the glass doors is good. The location is an excellent jumping off point, very close to a number of National Trust and beaches. Thank you. Places worth visiting- Flambards - if you have children or like a theme park - note free returns as much as you like for 7 days. Calyon Bay- stoney beach good for sheds and local swim. Polmear - stoney beach with some sand good for shells, not easy access and very small car park. Lost Garden of Heligan- Brilliant loads of great walks, recommend annual pass as save money after two visits. Farm shop there good and restaurant great. Mevagissey- use first carpark for all day parking £7. You can pay £5 and top up if needed. Post 2pm use next carpark as £2 is till next day. The first carpark is Willow carpark. The next one round the town is River Street. The Teacup tearoom is excellent, best scones and cream tea. No booking and very small. Looe- Great beach and lovely town. Best fish and chips EVER is in Ben Plaice. It's out of the town, but worth the drive and has parking. Gylly Beach - The beach café is great, parking cheap £4 or £5 for whole day. Park next to the beach if you arrive early otherwise by field next door. Falmouth - Great town can spend a good day wondering. We went to Fuel which have lovely staff and great food. Fowey - Kittows has a great selection or cheese and BBQ food. Brown Sugar does great food using Kittows products. Ruby's Ice Cream, the milkshakes are amazing. St Austell Brewery - Has the Hicks Bar, but also a shop selling local beers and wines cheaper. Worth a visit. Ozzell Bowl - small 8 lane 10 pin bowling, with slots 2p/10p machines and soft play. Charles Town - great place to eat of an evening, worth looking for events on The Lady Daphne, great music. Lanhydrock - great day out and excellent visitors attraction in the house. Long walk to the house, you can hire bikes there for off roading. Truro - great historic town with lovely Cathedral. Avoid the 10 pin bowling. Edies - Amazing local family friendly restaurant.

My husband and I have visited Cornwall every year for the last 18 years.

We have stayed in a variety of accommodation on each visit, so we generally have an idea of what to look for in a cottage. We were happy with the cleanliness of the cottage, however we did find that the grill pan still had fat in it and we were somewhat disappointed with the state of the outside space. There were lots of weeds (we're aware there has been a lot of rain) it was apparent that the outside areas hadn't been attended to for quite a while. The cottage is called Vi's Valley View, sadly the view was obscured as the double glazed windows in the lounge and the bedroom have blown along with two smaller windows, so looking out of them was a little dreary. In the welcome pack it stated there were dog bowls and treats in the study, neither were found. Not the end of the world I know. We had a query about the access to the outhouse where we could find fuel for the open fire, it said in the Information pack that the contact number for any queries was at the front of the Information pack, it wasn't. Thankfully I was able to find this on the email from our booking with Sykes. We made contact asking how we could access the outhouse and they got back to us 2-3 days later. In our experience the majority of holiday cottages leave a 'Welcome Pack', in these we have had items such as Milk, biscuits, and even a bottle of wine on a couple of occasions. At Vi's cottage we got a welcome pack but on opening it there was 2 dishwasher tab, 2 washing capsules, a cloth, sponge and washing up liquid. Sorry to say we were a little stunned the fact it was called a 'Welcome Pack'!! We found the bed in the main bedroom a too firm for us. On a positive note, we enjoyed our time in Cornwall. The cottage kitchen is well equipped, the lounge very comfortable, great location, good parking 'The Ship' served great food and the locals were very welcoming.

We had a fabulous family Christmas here - 2 adults, our 4 children (teens+early 20s) plus 2 dogs. As other reviewers have said, the property is immaculate. I still cannot believe how a place so spotless can be so genuinely welcoming to dogs. Food bowls and filled water bowls set out for the dogs on arrival, along with lovely treats for the people, and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree- thank you! We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and even though I loved most of them, I never unpack, instead I just live out of my bag for the week. This time the house was so clean and warm, with no ‘holiday house damp drawer smell’ that I unpacked immediately. Much easier! The location is very quiet and peaceful, with a lovely view over a field of horses, but it is only a short walk in to the town. There are several supermarkets 5 to 10 mins away by car and there are lots of beautiful beaches and walks nearby. The house is fully equipped, even down to having rechargeable torches in sockets in the kitchen and upstairs hall, and there is an outside tap and hose to clean dogs and wellies after muddy walks. Martin called a few days before we went, to welcome us and to check we knew how to get in, which was very kind. We all thoroughly recommend staying here!

We stayed here with our three dogs and older parents. When we first entered the property we were wowed it was spacious and elegantly and tastefully decorated everything was immaculate. The dog stations were a nice touch as was the dog treats and wine to start our first evening off right. The amenities were amougst the best we’ve ever had when staying in a holiday cottage the rain showers and easily accessible bath where appreciated by parents. As well as the extremely comfy beds . This property is an ideal base for exploring the area of south Cornwall I.e mevagissey fowey looe and Polperro and Charleston . We sat in the veranda at the front of the property adjacent the fields and soaked up the sun in the gorgeous garden furniture. & the enclosed garden at the back was ideal for dogs . We adored this property and had the best holiday we will definitely be coming back !

Thank you for a lovely week spent in one of the best holiday homes that we have been to. The house had everything that we needed and is in the ideal location for exploring what Cornwall has to offer. We had lovely weather for the week and made the most of it. We visited The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lands End, Trewidden Gardens, St Michaels Mount, Lizard Point, Trebah Gardens, Watergate Bay, Newquay, Perranporth Beach, St Agnes, Charlestown, Carlyon Bay, The Eden Project and took a lovely walk along the Pentewan Valley Trail. The comfy beds were very much appreciated after a long days exploring and the use of the washing machine and tumble dryer was very handy. We absolutely loved our stay at Trewhiddle House and would definitely recommend a stay here. Digger says, "Thank you for his dog bowls and the treats were very yummy!"
