This property is a real home from home.

It has everything you might need for your stay and your comfort. The only thing it didn't have was a hair dryer, so take one with you. But the owners quickly supplied one after I mentioned I haven't bought mine. The white TV in the photos has been replaced with a larger black one. I had no problems with the signal as mentioned by another review. The bed and sofa are very comfy. I loved having the footstools to put my feet up at the end of a tiring day walking and the throw. The property is in a very quiet location, no noise at night (couldn't hear any Seagulls, unlike other properties I have stayed at in Cornwall). There is a heated towel rail in the bathroom for drying towels or an extendable airer in the garden. A tall unit in the bedroom doubles as a mirror if you turn it around - ingenious. Off road parking right outside property. I preferred to walk down to the harbour via the coast path, there are steps but it is not as steep as walking down/up the road and better views. Instructions of how to join it are in the property. Would recommend getting the ferry from Mevagissey to Fowey (£17 return 2023) instead of driving there. Lovely walk along the SWCP from Mevagissey to Gorran Haven and onto Dodman Point. If you carry onto Hemmick beach (this part is steep in places and very overgrown), you can take the direct route back to Gorran Haven via fields and a camp site, which takes half the time. Then get the bus back to Mevagissey. Very nice ice cream at Gorran Haven, which is very welcome after a long walk. Charlestown very charming place to visit, where they filmed some of Poldark. Another nice easy SWCP walk is Portscatho to St Mawes, good views across to Falmouth. Portscatho is a lovely stop for picnic lunch, there was also a restaurant there which looked inviting but I didn't use it.

Only one fault really, the boiling hot bedroom.

We stayed 10th June - 17th June and the weather was in the low to mid 20's. The bedroom was boiling hot of a nighttime, even with the fan running all night. Although the bedroom does have 3 Velux Lights, if you open them for fresh air, the noise from the seagulls (mainly) and the pigeons does continually wake you throughout the night, we tried it one night, the seagulls don't seem to rest, forever squawking. But it is a seaside village, so there will be seagulls, loads of them, and they certainly know how to make a noise in the middle of the night. We tried just releasing the 'vents' on the Velux's and whilst quietening the noise of the seagulls, it did nothing to release the heat from the bedroom. We were advised not to leave the Velux’s open during the day, especially if we were out, because in the past the seagulls have got in and spoiled everywhere, leaving a ‘clean-up’ operation. I suppose ultimately, the bedroom could do with air conditioning, but that comes at a cost to the landlord, and would people be prepared to pay something towards the extra cost, having suffered, I know I would. Overall, the property is lovely, no complaints elsewhere, it is only the boiling hot bedroom which lets it down.

We were extremely pleased with the standard of cleanliness and had chosen the property as it was modern in design with up to date fittings etc.

so were not disappointed. The bathroom and shower was perfect too. The only downside for us personally was that the garden was not designed with a dog in mind therefore we found it was not ideal for our elderly labrador/spaniel cross. I had envisaged the garden differently than we found it to be, so will undertake more research when making any future bookings. The hill down to the harbour in Mevagissey would be too steep for some people to manage to walk, which we did not appreciate fully until the return journey (although there were payable parking facilities in Mevagissey). We had a wonderful time with so much to see and do in the area and would recommend the property to anyone fit and able to manage the hills when on foot. P.S. We noted the owner feedback book with minor points: No potato peeler or tin opener. An indoor clothes airer would be appreciated if it is too wet to use the outdoor washing line. P.P.S. There was no extra bedding should this have been required and we were unable to find any instructions for the wall heaters (which to my knowledge did not appear to work, although the small room fire did). Thankfully we were very lucky with good weather for the time of year and had a fantastic time.

      The property was spotlessly clean.

There are a few things noted. The lack of crockery and pans. The blind in the dining area was unable to be drawn up as wall mounted clip missing. The fridge has no ice box, it may be worth noting this The bedroom would benefit from larger drawers, a chair and a bin. There was a lot of noise coming from the pub across the road Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Perhaps this was because we had the velux windows open so the noise travelled. The view from both windows in the living area is not the most desirable looking out onto a building in need of repair one side especially. None of the above affected our stay and would certainly recommend the area. We went on the Mevagissey to Fowey ferry it was well worth the trip. Unfortunately we missed the dolphins. Had a wonderful day at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The decor and pictures in the apartment were impressive. The information before hand was prompt and very helpful. There were no issues with the car parking and loading/unloading the car went well.

A very pretty apartment, ideal for a short stay but not for two weeks.

Having the bedroom upstairs and the bathroom downstairs was a bit of a pain, as was not having an on-site parking space (though we were able to use one of the empty apartment’s spaces for the first week). There is simply not enough storage space for a stay longer than a few days, either in the kitchen (little food cupboard space, no freezer), or bedroom (no drawers, only a couple of shelves in the ‘wardrobe’). The low eaves were literally a pain in the neck in the bedroom as you can’t stand straight at either side of the bed, only at its end. There is no hoover, broom, or mop for cleaning and, despite staying for two weeks, we did not get clean towels, bed linen, or a mid-stay clean, which was disappointing. On a positive note, the bed and sofa were comfortable, the shower was very effective, and the apartment is perfectly positioned in the centre of the village and makes a great base for days out. We would not stay again because of the issues mentioned but we had a good stay, despite the weather!
