The Old Reading Room is a detached stone built cottage situated right in the heart of the picture postcard coastal village of Bamburgh. Tucked up a small, private lane, this quaint property was built in the early 1800s and originally used as an infant school. It then became the reading room for the village and finally a doctor’s surgery. The Old Reading Room now provides self catering holiday accommodation where restaurants, tea rooms, shops and pubs are all a mere gentle stroll away. Visit the interesting Grace darling Museum close by or amble down to the glorious expanse of golden sands only a few minute’s walk from The Old Reading Room.

Great cottage in an excellent location in the centre of Bamburgh with its own parking space.

This was our 4th time in this cottage. The only thing we missed was a bread knife (i.e. a serated edge). Everything else was fine. Considering how close it is to a main road, it is extremely quiet. Close to the beach. Our particular love, the excellent cakes and ice cream, just across the road.
