About this property

Located within the stunning hamlet of Warren Mill overlooking Budle Bay near Bamburgh and Lindisfarne in Northumberland, Turnstone Cottage is the ideal destination for a family holiday or a group of friends travelling together. The setting is simply superb with the most spectacular views over Budle Bay. The accommodation isn’t bad either with a delightful sitting room welcoming guests in with ample seating arranged around a woodburning stove set in a feature inglenook fireplace, which helps to create a really inviting ambience. The spacious, country kitchen is a wonderful space to whip up dinner for your holiday party and there is another woodburning stove here, adding an attractive finishing touch to the room. When it’s time to serve up, make your way to the dining room which is all set up ready for you to enjoy long, leisurely meals together. At bedtime, guests can make their way to any of the three charming bedrooms which all offer captivating views over the coastline and beyond and offer a really calming space to rest your weary heads after a hard day of exploring. Waking up in the morning is a delight at Turnstone Cottage which is a great base from which to explore the region. Located between Bamburgh and Lindisfarne, there are so many attractions to visit, it can be hard to know where to begin. Bamburgh has a good selection of shops and amenities as well as its infamous castle and Lindisfarne boasts a highly impressive castle too. Other towns worth visiting in the region include Alnwick, Seahouses, and you can even head to the border and visit the ever-popular town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Activities to look forward to in the area include golf, sailing (from Seahouses to the Farne Islands), birdwatching, hiking, cycle rides and horse-riding. For a truly memorable holiday in an outstanding location next to the sea, make sure you book a stay at Turnstone Cottage.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Beds very comfortable, kitchen so well equipped (even for Christmas turkey...), everything clean. No noise from the road due to very good window insulation. Loved the fireplace and also the friendly owner. Felt comfy and at home. Thank you!
