    Staveley Holiday Cottages

In the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, about 4 miles north of Kendal, you’ll find Staveley, a village at the entrance of the Kentmere Valley with much to offer bikers and walkers. Overlooked by the scarps of Spy Crag, Lily Fell and Reston Scar, Staveley also marks the start of the Kentmere Round of hills. Walking routes include the famous Kentmere Horseshoe, and the nearby ‘Green Road’ from Kentmere to Longsleddale is a popular mountain biking course. The high street through the village has lovely shops and a pub, and the nearby village of Ings is home to award-winning restaurants.

At Snaptrip we’re thrilled to offer Staveley holiday cottages that are hand-picked for comfort and charm. Whether you want a romantic break for two in a period cottage or a modern barn conversion for a family reunion, you’ll be spoilt for choice with luxuries such as fire pits, games rooms, swimming pools or hot tubs. Many cottages welcome pets and have disabled facilities.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Andrew - Verified booking

The electric wall heaters in the lounge were controlled by the owner on her mobile phone.

She kept turning the temperature down on them and sometimes off completely. We had to telephone her numerous times and ask her to turn the heating on or up, because the room was freezing. It was snowing outside when we were staying there. The Lake District can still be extremely cold even in the summer. The broadband service was so erratic and slow it would not allow Netflix or iPlayer to operate, so the tv was useless. We ended up using our own Vodafone data for the internet. The amount of stairs you have to climb from the front door up to the bedroom is 28, which is even a struggle for someone who is fairly fit. They provided us with one small bath and hand towel each for two weeks holiday, which is really penny-pinching, considering that there is no washing machine in the apartment to wash laundry. The property comes with an allocated parking space, which is ideal in the centre of Windermere. The apartment is located in the centre of Windermere, with shops, restaurants and pubs right on your doorstep. The lounge and bedrooms were decorated to a good standard with very nice furnishings. The kitchen was well equipped with everything required for cooking and eating.

      The directions should be updated.

“Cinderella Me” is now “Lakeland Retreats” and Morrison’s is now Sainsbury’s. I drove around the one way system 3 or 4 times before I spotted the entrance to College Court! The accommodation itself was lovely - comfortable and clean, well equipped and excellent location. Maybe not suitable for young families due to the internal staircases and cream sofas! The provision of only one parking space could be an issue for some guests because the only option was to park on the street and there are parking restrictions between 9am and 6pm. I had a friend stay for one night. She moved her car into one of the empty spaces in college court for 5-10 minutes to unload and immediately one of the permanent residents came out to tell her she couldn’t park there. The same happened when she did the same to pack the car. Also, it might be useful for guests to be aware that if you wish to eat out in Windermere, you will need to book well in advance! I tried to make reservations a week before our trip at the beginning of September and was told by more than one that they were fully booked until mid-October. Takeaway was difficult too, with two Chinese restaurants closed.

Maison on Windermere was the most wonderful place anyone could stay in that location. The house was immaculate on our arrival and it was everything we had hope for from the photos. Each room was decorated to a very high end and the facilities that the house has were brilliant. We loved the cinema room and because the weather was great we made full use of the well appointed hot tub and gardens, even eating outside on one of the evenings. The kitchen has everything needed for a family and the comfortable living room was great for family gatherings. Each bedroom was decorated individually and all had en-suites two of which had massive jacuzzi baths in and the other had a beautiful free standing bath in. The location of the house was excellent just a short walk away from the nearest restaurant and bar and further short walk into the centre where you were spoilt for choice for places to eat or drink. We all had a fantastic weekend and we can’t wait to go back.

Clean, comfortable, quiet flat in an ideal location just off the main road.

We've no actual complaints - but felt that for a ten night, four-figure cost stay we could have had another toilet roll and another towel. We've stayed in lots of self-catering properties over the last years and this is the first time that there was no sort of 'welcome' which we thought was unusual. Even a packet of biscuits and a 'have a nice stay' just makes you feel welcome. However, we'd really recommend the property and we had a wonderful holiday seeing the lakes at their very best. One other wee point, directions provided are given from the south and it would be good to be advised on the best approach from the north too. Many thanks.

The cottage was very well situated in the heart of Bowness allowing access to all relevant activities.

It was well maintained and the kitchen had all the facilities required. However, the property was very small and felt cramped. Also, it is situated behind a hotel/restaurant which produces a foul odour from its kitchen and places its industrial-sized rubbish bin at the entrance to the cottage. This meant that we were unable to enjoy the outside space at any point. Also there are no views of the lake or surrounding countryside from the property as it is very enclosed. Finally, there was some renovation of the next-door property going on at the time of our stay and the builders consistently started noisy work at 7:30 every morning.
