"This is the only review you need to read! :)Harebeck cottage is a delight to stay in and a great base for our walking holiday over the New Year. Katherine welcomed us and made us feel very at home, and very kindly provided a wonderful hamper full of goodies! Nothing was ever too much trouble, and she was always happy to help. The cottage was cosy, lovely and warm due to the aga and wood burner (extra bags were available on request for a small fee). The cottage had everything we need (and more...even down to the doggie bed and treats!), and the roll-top bath was brilliant! For those who have mentioned the stairs as a negative, yes they are steep, but we didn't find them to be problematic in any way. The kitchen was also amazingly stocked and with a brand new cooker, we had very thing we needed. The location was perfect for us as we were looking get away from it all, although some may find it a little secluded. Pubs, village shop, and bakery were all a short drive away, but can be walked to if needed. The farm tour was great and truly shows Katherine's passion and hard work in everything she does. Thanks for everything, and we hope to visit again!"

"Another stay at Harebeck and the cottage was as warm and welcoming as before. The Aga keeps the place really cozy and the log burner was fabulous after a day in the mountains. Really well equipped, comfy bed and lashings of hot water for a soak in the bath. This time we had a farm tour with Kath: fascinating. We will return."

"Lovely cottage on outskirts of Gosforth, aga in living is great for warmth, drying clothes and pizzas. Just be aware that this is a working farm you are staying on, and the stairs to bedrooms and bathroom are very steep!! Not suitable for some people but we loved it."

"We had a lovely stay at Harebeck. It is a comfortable clean cottage and the owners were helpful and welcoming. It had everything we wanted: log burner, comfortable beds, a great bath, warm and cozy. A perfect location for mountains lakes and sea."

"We enjoyed the stay however any person booking should take on board the the stairs to the bedroom are very steep. The cottage windows cannot be opened due to flies and wasps. This was inconvenient as in hot weather the aga made the cottage very hot. In cold weather the bedrooms would be uncomfortably cold. The cottage has a rustic farm charm and if this is what you want the other things do not matter. Allows dogs but the cows are at close proximity."

"The welcome was wonderful, with the kettle hot and tea and milk and some lovely biscuits. The place was clean although the approach is very potholed. However, the stairs are a near vertical home made ladder arrangement which I could only descent backwards. There is no cooker in the kitchen, cooking is done on an aga in the sitting room and hot pans have to be carried through the sitting area. The landlady has obviously worked very hard to try to make the place a success but the layout doesn't work and I doubt that the stairs would pass planning control"

"The cottage owners are very welcoming and helpful & Catherine sorted us a local Turkey and vegetables for our Christmas stay. The cottage is listed as having central heating but there is only one radiator upstairs outside bed 2 and controlled by next door, the listings also state that the kitchen has an Aga cooker but it is in the lounge at the bottom of the stairs, cooking is very difficult when the work surfaces, water, fridge and everything else is in the kitchen 20 feet away, also the Aga has been preset at a low temperature and the thermostat disabled so you cannot achieve the correct cooking temperature of 230 in the top oven, this sets the correct temperatures for the hot plates and simmering oven, the top oven was at 150 and cooking anything took a long time. The cottage desperately needs a cooker in the kitchen. The stairs are extremely steep and the warning at the top recommends you come down backwards, upstairs the carpets are thread bare and open gripper bars are ready to rip into your feet in the night (be warned) the beds are comfortable but upstairs is very cold, the bathroom is large but the shower pressure is really poor, the taps are loose and the hot water is extremely hot, we had a bit of fun in bed with our two year old daughter counting cobwebs on the ceiling (torch required). The farm supplies wood for the log burner at a cost but unfortunately you dont get seasoned dry wood its wet fence posts that struggle to burn and the cottage is seperated from the main house with adjoining doors so conversation is clearly heard. We cut our stay short and went home a day early."
