The Lake District is known for having plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts. Patterdale, in particular, is in a great location for anyone who wants to go hiking or walking. Helvellyn is nearby and well known by walkers, it’s a great option if you’re up for a challenge. If you’d prefer to be by the lake, you can enjoy sailing and canoeing on Ullswater. Lakeside walks also offer a more gentle alternative to conquering the surrounding fells. Patterdale is a beautiful spot for a short break.

"Beautiful property, expertly designed. It was so homely and airy I never wanted to leave. 4 people could easily enjoy the property, we were just a couple and had plenty of room, The balcony was a god send in the warm weather we experienced. It has everything you could need and easy to use equipment, comfy bed. An inspiration to use the lower floor as bedrooms, cool in the recent heat. The upper floor fantastic views. Very warm on the top floor, then after the third day we realised the heater had been left on full, perhaps something the caretaker should check, as it really wasn’t needed. Close to amenities, (pub, shop) and a short car drive to a host of restaurants and inns. My only complaint is it has excellent WiFi and mobile signal. My husband could still work whilst on holiday 😂. I would have liked a guest book, just so we could put recommendations of restaurants, walks, days out etc. Also perhaps (you may have already done) the instructions to bring your own towels. We brought our own but they were already supplied. Could have brought more clothes! 😂"

"We really enjoyed our week here as it was so relaxing, being close to Ullswater, easy walking countryside, and convenient for the shop , pub and close enough to walk in to Glenridding. The cottage has the advantage of lovely views from the balcony, it is quiet and is well equipped with linens, towels, cooking utensils etc. There was a lovely welcome pack with eggs, milk and biscuits from the shop. Also, there were essentials like toilet roll, cling film, washing up liquid and sponge. All we had supply was our own food. There was plenty of hot water, and wood for the fire was available if needed. The owners have thought of everything to make the stay comfortable with throws for sitting outside when cool, and good quality TVs and WiFi. There are two designated parking places next to the road at the side of the property."

"We had an excellent holiday at S85029. The cottage was very spacious, yet warm, cosy, comfortable and welcoming, even in the most appalling weather at the start of the week. We were a group of four adult couples and one dog, and found the living room and dining room perfect for spending time together, but there was always space for people to have a bit of time out from the group when they wanted it. The location was truly superb. Everyone (including the dog) loved the ever-changing views from the house, and there is plenty of fell-walking straight from the door - we barely used the cars. Red deer rutting season had started, and we could see and hear the stags up on the fell, and a red squirrel visited the garden. Something for everyone."

"We had perfect weather so spent most time outside, the number of dog rules was a real irritant, not really dog friendly in my opinion, the cleanliness issue was really the. Patio and grubby decor in places, also really needs a bigger outside table to be honest. Freezer downstairs and no gf loo a bit of an issueNegatives out the way it was a fab house in a brilliant location and the folk in the shop were first class, the view was as good as any and thanks for the weather. The steep drive was actually quite fun to race up back from the pub, pub is a good Lakeland one friendly with great beer and expected quality pub grub.Yeah would go back, we rarely do so similar type for a s, real value for money this one in fact a steal"

"The barn is beautifully presented, well-equipped and very comfortable, with a stunning location. A couple of minor niggles: the website says "towels not provided", but they are....this should be corrected, as towels take up space in the car and we didn't need to bring them. We do a lot of self-catering holidays, and this is the first time I remember staying somewhere that did not provide tea bags/coffee/sugar, (and perhaps a pint of milk!), as luck would have it we had forgotten tea and were too late to get to the shop. Also, it was unusual to find no soap/shower gel for the bath. As I said, minor niggles, we loved the place and have already booked to return!"
