"S15692,(E5466). Rented this cottage 26-29 August with my 2 dogs. The owners are very friendly which is just as well as its in their garden just feet from their back door. The outlook for us wasn't great, looking straight onto an overflowing skip. The cottage is ample size for the 3 of us & the dogs. The fields at the back was great for the dogs. The cottage garden is quite sweet but the patio a bit of a hazard with massive broken slab. Also the garden isn't secure as there is a gap big enough for the dogs to escape through. Not really sure why the fence doesn't go right to the wall!!.The cottage itself is in need of a good clean. We had to hoover before we did anything, massive thick cobwebs all over the walls especially above the bed.The sofa bed has loads of stains on it and the dust when you pull out the bed yuk.The curtains are dirty & shabby, really thin and don't quite cover the whole of the widows and the one over th door is really ridiculous. The pole falls down every time you alter the curtain. The bedding is in dire need of replacing, really thin and cheep & the quilt cover was too small for the quilt. The pillows were horrendous and feather to boot. Not great for dust mite allergy sufferers like me.Both the main bed and sofa bed are really uncomfortable.Even the crockery is cheap and nasty.Everything feels sort of " make do and mend" really. As if they think "well it's only the holiday cottage,it'll do".Also we paid an extra £50 for the dogs but there is nothing for them at all,not even a mat for the bowls. You're even asked to make sure you clean up any dog hairs before you leave so not quite sure what the £50 was for.All in all quite expensive for 3 nights & 2 days.( you can't get in till 4 pm and have to be out be 10 am). Also it doesn't matter if you have insurance,if you get burgled you won't be covered. There is a second bedroom which you can't use as the owners us it as a junk room.It has French doors to the outside which aren't locked. So even if you lock both the doors you have access to, the property still isn't secure."

"A lovely cottage, in a stunning place, with beautiful views. A reasonably comfortable cottage, which is modern and spacious. There is only 2 things I would have to say regarding a negative feedback. The sofa/chairs were not too comfortable as the seating on the sofa kept sliding off (which is no good when you are restritcted with your movement due to arthritis etc) and the chairs were too hard/solid. The cleanliness was lacking a little, as the fridge was not clean in the bottom box, and the cuttlery pot & other items were a little dirty. I know this is not the owners who clean the property, but the cleaners job is to make sure everywhere/everything is cleaned each time the cottage is empty and having to get it ready for the next customer etc. One other thing I would like to mention (which is only a suggestion)is that there was no storage for your food items as not everyone would be eating out every day, so would ha ve their own food items. Also, there wasn't enough draw storage in the bedroom to putfor some of your clothing items which you cannot hang up. Other than these coupke of things, I would say that this cottage is a lovely place in a beautifulplace, with stunning views etc. The owner was lovely, pleasant and very friendly. Their is just one other thing I would suggest, and that is to leave some brewing items (including milk) so that your customers can at least have a brew as they arrive at the property. All other cottages we have stayed in over the years have all left brewing items along with a litlle snack to tie you over until you can get to the shops to buy things you require for your stay. I would recommend this cottage to others, as we did enjoy our stay here, and had a wonderful few days."

"I had read a few previous reviews on here, so would like to correct one or two of the comments made. Firstly the house was immaculately clean, the bed setee has been changed for a comfy cream linen, complete with fur throw. The bed is not as photographed and is really comfortable. The bathroom looks to be completely revamped and there is a good electric towel rail which is very hot 24/7. Altogether I think the owners need to update the photos of this lovely place. Spacious, and although we ate out the kitchen equipment all looked up to date. The only downside for us was the net curtains, which in winter don't help to retain the heat and in summer must be a problem especially in the bedroom, but if these were changed then it would be a perfect place to spend a holiday."

"The cottage is located in a pleasant location and the owners are friendly. The visitors' book contains a number of positive comments, however, we felt the cottage lacked many basics:– No visitors' guidebook to the cottage and surroundings– Very few utensils in the kitchen (e.g. lacking a range of knives, fish slice, mixing spoons etc)– No baking trays, so using the oven could be awkward– Dirty oven, which produced a lot of smoke– No washing up implements (scourers, cloths, brush etc) and only a little washing up liquid– No cleaning cloths for general use– Inadequate heating– Inadequate bedding for the sofa bed (no bottom sheet, so we had to improvise)– Clean on the whole, but lots of cobwebs in corners and a grease-filled grill tray left in oven"

"This cottage was cosy and everything we asked for. The area around was full of public footpaths and all linked up over miles of countryside. The RAF base down the road wasn’t particularly a distraction, and apart from the odd flight here and there was relatively quiet. There was a supermarket and other shops connected with base but are all part of the town as well and most things can be sought from here. Overall I highly rate this cottage if you want the cosy cottage in a small village with lots of countryside to walk in, plus its not far from the motorway so can be accessed quite quickly. Oct 2011.
