    Banbury Holiday Cottages

Banbury can be found on the River Cherwell in northern Oxfordshire, nestled at the edge of the Cotswolds. Although it lies in a rural landscape, Banbury itself is a bustling retail and commercial centre - set amongst the hills with a busy market, museum and shopping mall.

The town centre of Banbury is bustling with activity. The museum links to the historic Tooley’s Boatyard, which offers tours of both the dry dock and narrowboat workshop. If history is your thing, the local pub The Reindeer Inn is worth a visit: it’s from here where Oliver Cromwell planned out the Battle of Edge Hill. Foodies should sample the local delicacy Banbury Cake - an oval-shaped spiced currant-filled pastry. Nearby, holidaymakers can visit Broughton Castle and Edgehill.

Holiday cottages in Banbury from the UK’s biggest and most trusted holiday home providers are bookable through Snaptrip, with thousands of properties on offer through the site. Users can filter their searches by desired property feature. Looking to take your pup along? There are plenty of choices for dog-friendly accommodation. What our customers say about their holidays

    • Deborah - Verified booking

This is a lovely cottage for a family holiday.

There is plenty of room for everyone, with comfy sofas and some cute kids' chairs in the lounge. The kitchen is cottagey and cosy, and has everything you would need while self catering, including cooker with an induction hob and a slimline dishwasher, and there is a choice of two places to eat meals. There were nice touches like tulips (my favourite) and a chocolate cake on arrival. The cottage has lots of vintage/antique bits, and we loved the character, particularly the inglenook fireplace- I even learnt how to competently light the fire without assistance. The bedrooms are lovely, with comfortable beds and lovely views. They can get very chilly at night during a cold snap in February, so taking hot water bottles might be an idea. We enjoyed watching the trains go by - they do run fairly regularly day and night, and sound the horn. The dog, a nervous collie, was very relaxed and at home in this cottage and loved the walks from the back garden through the paddock and into the fields. It is worth noting that the garden isn't completely secure due to a gap next to the gate into the paddock, and a gap under the paddock gate, but I believe the fields are more secure, if you have a dog who has a better recall than ours. We really enjoyed the area, and did the canal walk to Copredy village (good walking boots needed this time of year). The Mulberry cafe is lovely, with very friendly staff, the Red Lion is a cosy traditional pub with friendly staff, and we can highly recommend the cafe at the National Herb Centre - very friendly staff, great service and lovely food. We also enjoyed looking round there and getting inspiration. We had lovely street food in Banbury, and enjoyed looking around. Further afield, Lower Slaughter, Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water are great places to visit. All in all, this is a lovely cottage for a countryside getaway, and hoping that we and the dog will be back.Communication was quick helpful responses.

Lovely period cottage, parking a little tight if you have a large car.

We decided to leave the dog behind and are glad we did as the 'garden" is where you park the car and has limited space, it has a small shingled area which is split level to the car parking area. I think it would be helpful to include a photo but understand why they don't as it would have put us off if we had our Labrador with us. We had to ask for glasses to be delivered as there were very few in the kitchen - this happened promptly and the management company were very responsive. I fed back that it was difficult to dry the towels as only one small towel radiator in the downstairs bathroom which requires the heating to be on. Hooks on the back of the door don't really help as there is a slight dampness to the property (old property with thick walls) and despite opening windows when in the property, we resulted to putting the heating on downstairs which isn't ideal when its hot outside. The bedrooms are a decent size but no wardrobes, just some hooks on the wall and a few coat hangers, but plenty of drawer space. It has a good location, but a busy road. There is a well stocked local store and the pub had good food. enjoyable stay but it shouldn't be given 5 ticks, 3 to 4 would be more appropriate.

We very much enjoyed our stay here at Hollytree Cottage.

The beds were very comfortable. The sofas were also deep and comfortable (which isn't always the case even in cottages in a similar price range). We liked that the smart TV also had a sound bar, which meant that the sound quality when watching films was so, so much better than without. The kitchen had plenty of counter surfaces for cooking. Both the fridge and freezer were large. We also appreciated that the kitchen table was large enough for 8 people and not just 6. The shower had good water pressure, although it was slightly inconvenient having to come downstairs in the night to use the toilet. If anyone in your party is elderly, then be careful as there is a step up when walking from two of the bedrooms to the stairs before descending again - so you might want to help them or ensure they switch the corridor light on and take their time. Overall, we thought the property was attractively presented and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider returning.

We had a brilliant relaxing week staying at Robellen Corner.

The property is easy to find with off road parking. Inside is warm, clean and comfortable, the bed was really excellent, the kitchen well equipped and the lounge provided a relaxing space. We liked the large enclosed garden and it was a very quiet location. Karen has thought of everything you could need and it was lovely to arrive and find a welcome note , some home made cake as well as eggs, milk and bread The village of Adderbury is really pretty, there are bus stops, shop, cafe and pubs within easy walking distance. A good central location which enabled us to visit lots of lovely places within less than an hours drive. We visited two National Trust locations, Stowe Gardens and Upton House. In addition we pre booked Bletchley Park and Blenheim Gardens. We took the bus into Oxford and it was cheaper to buy a single £2 fare than a return ticket. The whole experience was fantastic in every way and we would highly recommend our host and this lovely property.

We’ve been to a few cottages over the past two years through Sykes Cottages, but I have to say that Hollytree Cottage has been my favourite so far.

Really comfortable sofas and beds. Lovely kitchen/diner where we spent most of our time playing games or chatting while doing a puzzle. Lovely area with lovely walks for us and our dog, with some interesting historical finds, such as the old disused/dismantled viaduct in the woods or recreating photos from old 1800’s photos from different points in the village from the books in Chipping Norton museum. We stayed in one of the hot August heatwave weeks and with the curtains closed, and a fan on in the kitchen, it actually stayed quite cool. The cottage alone was interesting when looking at the photos on the kitchen shelf, and realising that it was once two cottages, and then working out where the original features would have been. Even tho it’s on a corner in the middle of the village, it was really quiet, as it’s not a busy village. We had such a lovely peaceful relaxing week. We would definitely recommend staying here.
