"Lovely house for meeting up with family and friends. We were a party of 8 adults. Unfortunately we were unlucky as when we stayed the boiler and dishwasher were broken and there was only enough hot water for 2 persons. This meant for a very cold weekend. We tried to make the best of a bad situation but nothing was able to be rectified. Other points to bear in mind are that you only get one pillow per person and also have to share large towels. The area is very beautiful and we had some lovely countryside walks. Wifi worked well but some of our party missed a large tv. There was a lack of advertising for things to do, local area of interest etc compared with all the other cottages we have stayed in. In the details it states a welcome pack is provided but this is an instruction manual rather than a basket of goodies. Because of our bad luck we would not be returning. Cottages4you handled our problems well over the weekend and this would not put us off booking with them again. "

"Excellent and cosy place to spend a quiet week and, if you have the urge, somewhere from which you can take off and explore Oxford and the surrounding area. Every piece of equipment worked except the security key holder which would not close, and one portable heater, even though I replaced the fuse in its plug. Combined CD player and radio also a bit of a mystery! A really good feature is the open hearth and the chance to have a fire - logs were supplied but if you want more go to B and Q or Homebase just down the road into Abingdon after the A34 interchange. Best local pub is the Merry Miller at Cothill - good food and drink and log fires. Beware of a very busy road just beyond the lane on which the Cottage stands. Cars are driven at well over the 40 MPH limit supposedly in force. Not easy for pedestrians. Information left for visitors very thorough."

"We enjoyed spending the week around New Years Eve in this cute, very quiet and cosy cottage surrounded by a marvellous area. The cottage has been very well equipped and provided us with everything we needed. We would recommend this cottage to parties of two adult persons who both have a body length of maximum 170 cm because it's quite small and most doorways and ceilings have a low max headroom. It contains four sleeps and two separate bedrooms but the kitchen and living room are quite tiny to accommodate four adult persons sufficiently. As we stayed in the Westover cottage during the winter season we had some difficulties in regulating the (traditional) heating system. But may be that has to do with the fact that we are not familiar with the heating system in this cottage."

"Pierceys is a beautiful house in a fantastic location, fabulous walks right on the doorstep. Unfortunately when we arrived the house was absolutely freezing and took 24hrs to warm up. There was only one pillow per person, no spares, only one large bath towel per couple, and one room did not have curtains on one of the windows.Although adequate the house was not as clean as we would have expected, there were pubic hairs in the shower, dried tomato pips on the kitchen work surface, and dirt around the edges of the carpet and skirting boards. This house is not worth the 4 star rating but could be if a bit of money was spent on improving it."

"As a base for exploring the area The Dovecote is great, It is a decent sized bedroom up top with two easy chairs and a desk with a kitchen / bathroom / toilet downstairs. Outside there is parking for one car and a small garden with table and chairs. It is not somewhere you would want to stay in all day, as it faces away from the sun (stays cool) and has no outward views, but if you use it to eat and sleep it is ideal.Over the road you can rent canoes to paddle up and down the canal and have tea, cakes or more substantial food at Annie's cafe. The canal side paths are great for relaxed walking and everyone locally was very sociable."
