"What a beautiful little cottage. I stayed here for a week mid-June this year with my wife, our 2 children and my friends and their daughter. It sounds like a lot for a 3 bed cottage but 2 of them were 3 month old babies and one is not quite 2 – even so the house was pretty much at capacity with the 7 of us and all our belongings and baby paraphernalia. The house, as I mentioned is as gorgeous inside as the stunning views of Mevagissy Harbour on the outside. It’s beautifully decorated, very cosy and comfy and well-appointed with gadgets, appliances and accessories. It feels like Sam (the owner) has thought of everything you could possibly need and made sure it’s available. On that note Sam is incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, she replies to messages almost immediately and passed on some great hints and tips of things to do locally. The cottage is a superb base from which to explore Mevagissy and the other towns and villages in Cornwall. It’s located up quite a steep harbour-side path which makes unpacking a bit of an ordeal, especially in 30 degree heat, but once you’re in and settled that’s all forgotten. And packing the car at the end of the holiday is much easier as it’s all downhill. I’ve read a couple of reviews of this property that moan about the parking and the steep climb up to the front door but it really wasn’t an issue for us at all – even with pushchairs and toddlers. It also has the added bonus of making you feel less guilty about the Cornish pasties and the cream teas!! Plus when you open the curtains first things in the morning or plonk yourself down on the bench outside to enjoy a couple of sundowners the view is breath-taking. It’s sensational.Parking is fine too. You are able to drive the cars round to the bottom of the footpath to the cottage for loading and unloading and then park the car a couple of hundred yards away across the harbour. It’s £30 for a week’s parking and it’s a lovely stroll round the harbour to get to back to the cottage. You also have to pass by 3 or 4 pubs so could stop off along the way if you needed a rest.Newquay, St Ives, Padstow, The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and many other destinations are only a short drive away or there are coastal paths you can take straight from your front door that offer some stunning scenery. Mevagissy itself has some great restaurants, pubs and little shops in its narrow side streets that are worth trying out/exploring. It’s a fishing village so the seafood in the restaurants is some of the best I’ve tasted. You can also buy fresh fish straight off the boats and take it back to the cottage and cook. Which is what we did on more than one occasion. The kitchen in Tranquillity cottage is small but well laid out and full of everything you need. We comfortably cooked for ourselves and sat down to eat in there with no trouble at all. It’s not a criticism because I wouldn’t change anything about the cottage but as a 6ft tall man I came away from the holiday with a few bumps on my head. The beams in the kitchen caught me out a couple of times, the shower cubicle and the points of my elbows we’re very well acquainted by the end of the holiday and I’ve no idea how the shade on the main light in the living room is still in one piece. We could have made quite the montage of video clips of us banging our head in the lounge if we’d thought about it. We had a fantastic trip and absolutely loved Tranquillity cottage. I can’t recommend this place highly enough."

"Although I found the apartment inside very spacious, clean, well equipped and the location (Mevagissey harbor) very picturesque I cannot say that the holiday was perfect. The entrance way to the apartment is the worst that I have seen, coupled with the fact that the staff smoking area for the restaurant below is at the foot of the disgusting metal staircase which leads up to the top priced apartment is a joke. The very first night that we were at the apartment we were greeted by loud shouting, talking and laughing from the restaurant staff between the hours of 10pm - 1am . This could be heard through the windows of the two bedrooms on the left hand side of the apartment which happened to have my 18month and 7 year old sleeping. The following day I spoke with the supervisor who apologized but didn't really seem to care (i suspect that he was one of the staff who was involved). When we walked back to the apartment and went to climb the stairs with children, pushchair and bags we were greeted by more members of staff sitting on the staircase smoking which we had to push through. Then for the next 6 nights we were greeted with the same rowdy behavior by the staff at the foot of the stairs obviously egged on by our complaint. So due to the noise issues, the generally dirty entrance stairs (and i would say not very safe with all the cigarette buts that were left there) and the overflowing rubbish in the bins around the front area this is definitely not worth the money we spent on the apartment..."

"Mevagissey is a lovely picturesque fishing port situated on a beautiful stretch of the Cornish coastline. “Tranquilly” is situated right on the coast path with arguable some of the best views available of this fantastic harbour and surrounding area. You can sit and watch and boats coming and going from either the front windows or the bench outside and truly immerse yourself in the Cornish way of life. Turn left from the front door and in minutes you are at the first of a number of spectacular secluded bays which are assessable from the coast path which is your home address for the duration of your stay. Turn right from the front door and you are on the harbour side with fresh fish available from the catch of the day, which on a number of occasions we took back to the cottage and cooked in the well equipped kitchen. The harbour side and surrounding cobbled streets contain an array of interesting shops, restaurants and quaint old pubs where we spent many happy hours during our week stay during early September. I highly recommend this cottage, don’t let the lack of parking put you off it’s not a problem and the steep walk to the front door is more than compensated by the views. The sunrise we experienced on a couple of the mornings we were there was a joy to behold."

"We thought the apartment was excellent - light, spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, clean, and the view over the harbour was just superb - we spent hours just watching boats come and go, fish being unloaded, and tourists wandering around the harbour - idyllic. The apartment is child-friendly, with games and dvds to suit most ages in case the weather is inclement. There was only the two of us, so we were spoiled by all the space! However, the entrance to the apartment is awful. You have to walk down a dark, narrow alleyway between rows of rubbish bins belonging to the restaurants beneath the apartment and squeeze past the (friendly) staff on their breaks to reach the external steps to the seagull-infested patio before you even get to the door to the building. Such a shame. We weren't too aware of the restaurants, except for the nightly tipping of the empty glass bottles into the bins at around 11:00 pm!We had some incorrect information with regard to the rubbish collection - it is essential to put the rubbish bags out on Thursday evening as the collection is very early Friday morning.Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here."

"We booked a holiday for our family at tranquillity cottage for Christmas 2014. Unfortunately if we had been told how hard it is to get to we would not of booked it. You either can find the terrace above it and walk down a muddy winding path or try and park on the harbour somewhere and walk the very steep incline with a week worth of belongings and 3 children including a toddler it was not easy.Anyways, the cottage itself is beautiful but being a fishermans cottage it was a tad too small for us. It is decorated beautifully and has everything you could possibly need including dozens of towels!! The view from the main bedroom is gorgeous and you could find yourself sat there just gazing out for ages. And the cream tea left out for us upon arrival is really appreciated after a 4 hour journey :)There were some bad points however; The dvd player did not work. The X box came out in black and white. And there were some cleanliness issues inc thick cobwebs above the stairs and the main bedroom, and we found an old watch, a sock, Vaseline tub and a set of headphones on and under furniture. For the money we paid we were a little disappointed. "
