What our customers say about their holidays

    • Neil - Verified booking

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a wonderful place and wonderful people.

When my partner first shown me this place I nearly ruled it out due to having young children 1 and 4, I thought the out door space may have been an issue. I am so glad we decided to book as it was not an issue at all, was amazing and our children loved it, such a sense of space, playing freely on the grass, meeting the farm animals and even feeding the lambs which our daughter absolutely loved. They gave us lots of ideas for days out we could do in the area with the children which was great and we enjoyed some great family days. And when their day was done and fast asleep, we could spend our time relaxing in the hot-tub admiring the views and cozying up on the couch with a glass of wine and amazing cheese board from a shop they recommended in cartmel (so delicious). I would definitely recommend staying here the properties are immaculate, the people are lovely and the balance of time with the children and for ourselves was perfect. We will definitely be returning.

Lovely stay and we would like to return.

The accommodation was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Kath was extremely helpful in the lead-up to our stay and the videos she sent were very helpful. The location was ideal once we found our bearings as it is quite tucked away in a lovely spot. Neddy Cut is slightly overlooked by two similar buildings but all are well separated so it still feels quite private. Slight damp smell at times but this was not a big issue, just an observation (possibly linked to warped wooden boards in the corner of living room, where we presumed the boiler to be). Very warm but this is a good thing when weather not so great. The boiler/ ventilation systems can be a little noisy at times for reasons we couldn’t quite figure out (in terms of when they came on). I was also pleased to note that during our stay no work was done on the adjacent building which is under construction. Would highly recommend.

The property is outstanding for it's facilities, the general layout and the location.

Also the videos sent to us by the owner prior to our stay were super helpful. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the heating system - on the Sunday of our stay, the heating was on full and would not turn off at the thermostats, resulting with the overnight temperature being unbearably hot in the bedrooms. We had to try to sleep with the outside doors to the bedrooms open, and walking to the bathroom with bare feet was almost impossible due to the temperature of the floor. We contacted the owner who tried her best to resolve, suggesting we turned the heating off at the boiler and putting it back on when required as she could not get anyone to look at the boiler till the last day of our visit. Also work on a build next to our lodge was quite distracting. Overall would recommend the property if heating is fixed and build next to it is completed.

The location of Corn Cottage is perfect.

The walks from the doorstep are plentiful and fabulous. There is parking for one vehicle on the property, with more at the roadside. The cottage was presentable, however, the toaster didn’t work and the owners were notified and happy to replace, but we used the grill in the oven. The dishwasher worked once and the wash cycle was poor. Again, the owners were notified. This would explain the dirty teacups and pans that on our arrival we had to wash by hand. That said, lots of hot water and the owners kindly provided plenty of logs at no extra cost. I am sure that the issues we had can be easily addressed by the owners.

This was a spacious lodge for 6 people with everything you could possibly need.

Everything was spotless and very well decorated. We went for the Christmas week and Kath even provided an aluminium roasting tin and foil. The lodge was decorated for Christmas with a real tree with lots of Christmas extras . It was very thoughtful of the owners. We enjoyed using the hot tub even though the weather was cold and frosty. I could sing lots more praises about this property and it is a little more expensive than some but the standard is much better than most lodges. Next time we have a family get together I well definitely book there.
