    Hope Valley Holiday Cottages

The joyfully- joyfully-named Hope Valley is one of the most loved parts of the Peak District in Derbyshire and refers to the areas centred around the village of Hope. It appears to be a single valley at first glance, but the river bisecting it changes name several times across the area. At the valley’s head, Peakshole Water flows to Hope, then it reaches the River Noe at Edale before entering the River Derwent. At Snaptrip, you’ll find a brilliant collection of Hope Valley holiday cottages from the UK’s leading holiday accommodation companies.

A visit to the Hope Valley should include a walk along one of the Peak District routes, with Winnats Pass, Mam Tor, and the Great Ridge all a short distance away. These are some of the most photographed spots in the whole county, offering breath-taking views at all times of the day, year-round. A variety of historical inns and restaurants offering wholesome home-cooked fare dot the villages and traditional Derbyshire ‘well-dressing’ remains an event here if you fancy seeing something a little different.

At Snaptrip, we’re proud to offer thousands of holiday cottages across the country. Under our best price guarantee, customers can remain assured of unbeatable value and once you visit these remarkable landscapes, we’re sure you’ll want to visit time and time again.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • William Ba - Verified booking

We have just completed five days at the "Old Workshop", and really enjoyed our stay.

We are a mixture of ages 17, 50, 80, and 85, so it is difficult to please everyone, but it managed to do quite well. On arrival the Cottage was lovely and warm, and a lovely welcome pack just what we needed after our long journey in the rain. It has a large spacious lounge, seating six adults with ease, beautifully decorated and clean, with a view from the rear window of Pevril Castle, being upstairs was different, and may be a problem for some, but we managed well, being positioned in the heart of Castleton is a bonus for those who cannot walk far, and compensates for the limited views from the windows. The kitchen is also very spacious, and has everything you need (except a dishwasher), which would be a luxury to us anyway, the microwave position would be easier and safer to use at a lower level, specially for an older person. The double bedroom was the smaller of the two, but cosy and adequate, the bathroom and shower were adequate and worked well, but it was small and the shower was a little difficult to get into for the elderly. The second twin bedroom was much bigger, and an on suite attached was a nice extra, although it was a bath not a shower. Parking can be an issue, luckily we have a small Saloon car, and next door had a larger Saloon, so I did manage to squeeze in and out without disturbing them, however if you had two SUVs or larger Saloons, you would have to juggle to get your car out, which you need to be aware of, we managed ok, but parking on street is difficult. Apart from the points mentioned, the weather was very kind to us and we had a very nice stay and would return.

We enjoyed our stay at The Old Workshop.

It is in a great location in the centre of town, meaning it is only a few minutes from all the amenities and many pubs. It also makes a great starting point for some wonderful scenic walks. Parking is at a premium in Castleton at busy times of the year, so being able to park two smallish cars (with difficulty and care) is a godsend. The accommodation was clean and generally well-equipped, though there are low doorways, so mind your head! The rule about not being allowed to take other guests back seems Draconian. We were there for New Year when the weather was bad and some friends were staying in another location – we were unable to bring them back for a coffee or a game. If we had known about this rule, we would not have chosen the property. The choice of a very small bath, rather than a shower, in the master bedroom en-suite, seems bizarre and a tremendous waste of space. I am 6" 3" and could hardly get my legs covered with water. Getting out of the bath, would also be extremely difficult for many.

A lovely cottage in an ideal location for exploring the Peak District, plenty of walks from the doorstep.

Would definitely consider a return visit. However, this was all let down with zero communication from the owner with no information pack or any instructions. There was also no number provided for to report any issues. Whilst the property has clearly recently been updated with an excellent bathroom and kitchen, there were a number of small but frustrating issues i:e both bulbs had gone on the oven extractor fan, the bulb had gone on the bathroom mirror and the remote for the tv soundbar didn’t work, probably a battery issue. The latch on garden gate was also hanging off meaning it didn’t fully close and was an issue for the security of dogs who could easily get out. The outside light at the front wasn’t working, again a simple fix but no spare bulbs and nobody to tell about it. Feel petty mentioning and only giving 3 out of 5 but when added together all of the above left us with a pretty negative view when it could have been so much better with minimal effort.

      Would highly recommend Foxgloves.

A great little annexe attached to the owner's home. The property is spotlessly clean and well thought out with everything you'll need for your stay. The owner has thought of everything and it has been very nicely done, very comfy bed, with even a washer and dryer provided (should you need it) and a little private area to sit outside (weather permitting) It is very central and a great bolt hole for exploring the Peak District with many places and attractions only a short drive away and plenty of walks nearby if that's what you're looking for. Whilst the excellent facilities provided mean you can cook if you prefer, it is only a couple of minutes walk from Castleton village where there's no shortage of places to eat and drink. I ate at The George one evening and would recommend, friendly staff and good food. If you're planning a trip to this area, I would definitely recommend Foxgloves for your stay.

Nice cottage, great location and lovely welcome pack and great communication from the owners.

Lovely lady. Was let down however by the following: - needed a much more thorough clean. Seemed to only have had a quick do-over by the cleaners. Crumbs on kitchen table, cobwebs for example. Coffee cup stains on bedside table. - slugs coming in under a gap at the back door during the night leaving trails across the kitchen. - some maintenance required; roller blind in living room chain broken held together with wire that needed several repairs during the stay. No light bulb above bed in the small bedroom. Shower head leaking and squirting out from sides which was frustrating. Garden was overgrown and tired and needed some tlc. Not major issues, didn’t spoil holiday and all very easy to sort but would make a big difference.
