Guests say

The Old Workshop in Hope Valley is a well-received cottage, praised for its cosy and comfortable atmosphere, prime location for exploring the Peak District, and thoughtful touches like a welcome basket. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, modern amenities, and the upside-down living arrangement that offers a bright and airy living space. While parking can be tight and some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Guests consistently note the property's immaculate condition, feeling very safe and comfortable with the level of cleanliness. The occasional mention of dust and cobwebs seems to be an outlier, not detracting significantly from the overall perception of a well-maintained cottage.

The cottage's location is frequently highlighted as excellent, being central within Castleton, close to amenities, and an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Peak District. Its proximity to local pubs and eateries adds to its appeal.

Comfort is a strong point for this property, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy. Some guests mentioned issues with the softness of the beds and the coolness of the bedrooms, but these comments are relatively few.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a spacious kitchen and modern amenities. However, some guests reported minor maintenance issues and inaccuracies in the listing regarding a dishwasher and parking at the Bulls Head Inn, which affects the score.

The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the welcome basket provided to guests, which includes items such as milk, bread, and eggs. While these gifts are appreciated and contribute to a welcoming experience, it is politely noted that such offerings are subject to change and not guaranteed.

Only thing that would make us hesitant to stay again was the softness of the bed - very very soft!

It was well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the idea of the upside-down set up. The only thing I'd like to mention, is the mattress on the king size bed was very soft, but I'd like to point out that this is an observation and not a complaint, everyone has different idea's of a comfortable mattress. It was in a perfect location and would highly recommend. Mick & Violet. North Tyneside.

We had the bedroom to the right hand side of the stairs. It was damp. The bedding was damp. The pillows were damp. It smelled foisty. The window on the bathroom was dirty and had cobwebs on it. The shower needs re-sealing as there a lot of black mould areas. The towels were probably new at sometime in the distant past. Good for exfoliating. Unable to take pictures of damp bedding surprisingly.
